Largest H&M Store in the World Opening in Avenues

If the five H&M stores already in the Avenues weren’t enough, H&M are now planning to open another one! The new location is where the old Debenhams used to be in phase 1 of the Avenues and according to the hoarding, it’s going to be the largest one in the world. It’s crazy that we need the largest H&M in the world first of all but it’s even crazier that is opening in a mall that already has five other locations.

Update: Reminds me of this hilarious (and real) scene from The Simpsons…

The current H&M location in phase one will be splitted into 2 stores.. the ground floor is confirmed it will host Vavavoom cosmetics store that will be shifted from the first floor …

I’m guessing the one right across from this is going to close down for sure but doubt for example the phase 4 one would close since thats brand new. Phase 3 location is pretty huge and busy all the time so I wonder if that will close and if it does I wonder what would open in its place? it’s in a pretty prime location, probably their best location in avenues.

Marks & Spencer should move into the Grand Avenue H&M location, because the one that exists now is small and doesn’t have a proper Children and Men’s wear sections, plus their food hall doesn’t have frozen food.

This just goes to show how Al Shaya likes to keep all the prime locations to himself. This isn’t the first time he does this. For example, there was a noodle factory in Phase 1 but instead letting someone else have that space he opened an ihop and replaced IHOP’s previous location for a canes chicken tenders. He even opens brands that nobody cares about just so that a brand that does matter doesn’t get it only because he doesn’t own it. And if anybody is gonna tell me that alshaya gives other companies a chance yeah that’s true but all the prime locations are brands owned by him, no exceptions. Anyways the avenues brand is all he’s got so might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

Well, it is his mall… I would do the same if I owned Avenues as well, I’d give all my brands the best locations. Thats why he bought the Avenues in the first place

Which unknown brands? There are a bunch of new brands in phase 4 but they aren’t unknown (LeLabo for example is unknown here maybe but it’s a pretty big brand), but yeah they’re always empty. But, thats not just phase 4, there are tons of stores all over the avenues in which i’ve never seen anybody in and i wonder how they’re still open.

I’m also wondering what would it mean to have the largest store.. would it have more stuff/ more lines (if yes, then the question is why were they not there in the existing stores??) and if NOT, does it just mean more of the same stuff.. in which case whats the BIG DEAL then??

Yes, slow fashion is actually a thing! It involves a combination of one or more of: paying fair wages to workers, using sustainable fabrics, reducing environmental impact of production, and many other factors. It’s actually a wonderful thing to wear your clothes with a clean conscience.

Happy to spread awareness. Personally gave up fast fashion a couple of years ago, and though it is really hard most of the time, I wouldn’t go back.

Someone should tell the Simpsons this Starbucks scene truly happened in Kuwait with a Starbucks opening literally on top of another Starbucks (at the new Debenhams near VOX Cinemas).

Meanwhile, we still don’t have Primark, Jarir or even something as cool as ComiCave in The Avenues; what gives?!

I’m pretty sure there is a Jarir in the avenues. It’s even one of the stores you can access from outside the mall. I don’t see the point personally since bookstores here legally can barely stock anything interesting.

Comic/collectible/videogame stores do very very poorly. This kind of store was destroyed by online and they can’t afford to pay rents in big malls.

Primark isn’t actually good it’s just cheap. If you want cheap there are plenty of brands that do that here already

I’m so disgusted by this

Here in Saudi H&M is opening everywhere like it’s Starbucks, yet Alshaya is not giving any attention to my favorite brand Topman

They claimed they “renovated” the Topman store in The Avenues in Kuwait, but they actually what they did is combine Topman with Topshop in one store, and Topman only got like 10% of the whole place!

They closed Topman stores in Dubai (Ibn Battuta Mall, Festival City) and recently when they opened The Avenues Bahrain, they opened Topshop only, no Topman, which is really annoying.

Can someone please get in touch with me, i need to speak who ever is handling the brand in the region, they are screwing the brand in the region, they need to either let it go with another company or give it the treatment it deserves.

🙁 🙁

Aracadia which owns Topshop/Topman is not doing well in the UK they are closing down a few stores and now each store has the same brand manager for both Topshop and Topman, but it’s not like they are going through very bad times.

Technically, Topshop/Topman should have two floors flagship stores at least in Dubai/Kuwait/Riyadh

They have four Topman stores in Jeddah lol, so i’m not sure what’s their strategy here, it’s insane!

I wonder how long it will take to undo the damage to our vocabulary (vernacular?) that was inflicted on us by excessive – and just plain wrong! – use of the word PHASE?!

The Avenues needs some serious internal re-branding work

I don’t mind the phases, I just HATE, and I mean HATE the fact they have an area inside the avenues called the mall, THE WHOLE FUCKING THING IS A MALL!!!!

Considering all the opposite comments, this comment seems so irrelevant but anyway, when is the new H&M opening? Some people say it’s on the 13th of Sep? Any Clue?
