Yeezy Boost 350 – Kuwait Launch

yeezy

For the sneaker heads in Kuwait you’re probably already aware that Kanye’s third release with Adidas will be launching world wide this coming Saturday August 22nd. If you weren’t aware, the previous grey 350’s were surprisingly released at Harvey Nichols in Kuwait and now they’re also part of the world wide release of the “Pirate Black” edition (). But don’t get your hopes up. Like all the stores world wide, Harvey is also getting a very limited quantity of around 12 pairs. To make matters even more difficult, Alshaya has a no raffle policy so unlike most of the stores around the world, Harvey Nichols won’t be holding a raffle on the Yeezys. Instead, like what some stores around the world do (Colette as an example), “VIP” customers will be given a chance to own a pair while the rest will be up for grabs on a first come first served basis.

I’m still trying to get a pair for myself but as of yesterday Harvey Nichols still hadn’t received the shipment yet so they will most likely be releasing them after the August 22nd world wide release date. I even heard September 21st as a local launch date although I find that hard to believe. Once I get a confirmation on a local launch date I’ll post it here but your best bet might be to check their instagram account daily just to be safe.

FYI, the previous grey release of the Yeezy Boost 350 are now selling for on the grey market while the Yeezy Boost 750 are selling for $2,250+.

Update: They’re launching tomorrow morning (Sunday, August 23rd) at Harvey Nichols. First come first serve, doors open at 10AM and there are around 12 pairs only. Good luck not getting trampled.

Update2: I just realized because this is Kuwait, everyone will probably send their drivers from 6AM to wait in line.

It is very difficult to categorize this problem. Outsiders would say that this is a first world problem, but we live in the third world. Perhaps a new problem category should be created.

It is difficult to express in words how sad, shallow, and gullible a person has to be to desire these. Of all the possible things in the world to spend your money on, why on earth would someone even be remotely interested in a pair of stupidly priced and over marketed shoes promoted by an arrogant, tasteless, and narcissistic pop star?
To anyone out there who wants a pair of these, I suggest you buy a gold Apple Watch to go with them. Then your life will be truly complete.

Third world country doesn’t necessarily means poor country or low GDP per capita. Kuwait never will be first world country until they start arresting “wastas” and until everyone starts respecting law. First indicator of third world country is high corruption rate (with many other things) and most of countries with high corruption rate are poor countries, but Kuwait amazingly manage to be country with really high GDP and with one of the highest corruption rate in the world.

You can be a prick and be talented. Most people who look past his persona will agree that he’s pretty damn musically talented.

No comment on the fashion stuff though

I have a pair of the Yeezy Boost 350 black and white released last month. I also have a pair of the Climacool Sonic Boost ($379 LESS expensive than the Yeezy) and much more comfortable. While I do love the material of the Yeezy, the fit of the Climacool is more practical if being used for actual workouts. The Yeezy’s are cute and pair well with gym attire for those who like to look as if they’re going to the gym. So if you’re really planning to use them as a workout shoe, don’t waste the money IF you can even get your hands on a pair. Also, Chinese replicas (outstanding looking replicas) are all over the place so be cautious when purchasing.

Yesss let pop culture, marketing campaigns and the media dictate what’s cool for you to buy. Keep mass consuming oh you gullible sheep!

It’s really unfortunate that people have so much FREE time and money for all this bullshit. Just few hundred kilometers away people are dying of fear of war and hunger and look at this part of the world. Amazing people !

Those have got to be among the ugliest shoes in the entire history of shoes. But, hey, I’m sure they make the workout go all the better.[/sarcasm]

My point, such as it is, is that they are ugly shoes shilled by a sociopathic, narcissistic and boorish “celebrity” who claims he is a “genius,” a term we generally reserve for an Einstein, a Salk, a Jobs or a Carver. The only thing West does that approaches “genius” is getting shallow, style-obsessed hipsters to shell out their disposable income on anything he sticks his name on, regardless of its utility or aesthetic value.

But, yeah, to each his own.

But they’re ugly in your opinion, that doesn’t make them ugly shoes. But based on what you’ve been saying you sound like such a hater. Why does it bother you so much what people like and what people want to spend their money on?

Well, thanks for the name-calling (“hater”) and while I’ll let that slide, I will say that I don’t care what people spend their money on. Buy all of Kanye’s shoes you can get your hands (feet?) on. Obviously, his shoes bring you happiness. I find it sad, though, that people choose to support someone as vacuous and unredeeming as Kanye West. He no doubt has already made a bundle off these shoes — probably more than most of us will earn in our entire lifetimes — so if you want to support the guy, his ideals (and Kim, Wrecker of Civilizations) then that’s fine with me.

It makes perfect sense we’re having this discussion in Kuwait.

But, hey, to each his own.

Yeah, that’s pretty much right. Even if I had done so, are we now subscribing to the fallacy that two wrongs make a right?

I didn’t make a fuss about the name calling you did. You can name call as much as you want but don’t throw a hissy fit when you get name called back.

I’m shocked that the Yeezy sales team didn’t thoroughly check to whom they were supplying before they allowed a store to release their products sans global marketing plan. It causes reputational damage and disappoints customers of all the retailers involved.

Such a lousy attitude that will cost you readers. Remember that traffic = money for you. So, actually, it’s more like McDonald’s than your personal blog.

Not really, if that was the case I would have commercialized the blog a long time ago. I post whatever I want and if people find it interesting great, if not that’s fine as well. It makes no difference for me because I just post whatever I want anyway. If the blog stops generating money that’s fine. Money never ran this blog.

I didn’t know what to write really until I read all the comments. This is his personal blog and he’s not forcing us to come over. Attitude yes, but don’t we all have it? Why crucify someone just because they’re accessible and responsive. Everyone has a right to their opinion. This is Mark’s house and what he does in it is his business as long as he doesn’t hurt anyone anyway.

Btw since this is the comments section, can I share my view – they’re overpriced and look lame – definitely not ugly though

Well technically the blog allows you the freedom of not having a full time job Mark, correct ? If advertisers pull the plug – the blog stays – but you’re forced back into alternative employment.

For the record, shoes are hideous and Kanye and his talantless pornstar wife represent all that Is ugly about the world today.

The blog is just one source of income and not my main source of income. And you can call Kim talentless but that’s obviously BS because she obviously has a talent or else she wouldn’t have been able to get to where she is today. If you think that video got her to where she is today then you’re being naive.

Just in case it looked like it I’m not a Kim Kardashian fan nor do I watch her reality show. But I do appreciate talent when I see it. Also full disclosure I bought her selfies book Selfish because wtf.

Hey Mark,
With all the those social media app, snapchat and instagram or whatever your blog is still the best in Kuwait, i dunno what it is but it has been in my favorites long time ago. Anyways just wanted to say keep up the good work!

Since we’re on the topic, what do you do with your limited edition or collector’s grade shoes? Do you retain all the original boxes and trade them with other collectors? I’m asking coz a while back I saw this documentary about sneaker collectors and their rare collections. Some guys make quite a bit of cash on this hobby 🙂

No I just wear my sneaks. None of my sneaks are pricy, maybe just one or two pairs that cost me around $700 or so but I wear those as well. I don’t buy shoes to hide away in boxes.

Amidst all this negativity and all these strange people commenting about how terrible kanye and Kim are, I’d like to say that I LOVE these kicks and I think Kanye’s a great dude who’s super talented. I actually managed to cop the grey ones (not from HV tho) and will be hoping to cop these too! You do you do Mark, these are dope.

I have Nike sneakers that look pretty much the same. I paid $72 for them at Zappos. I don’t know if they are limited edition though. They’re just comfortable and I’m quite happy with them.

What’s up with all the hate on here?

I respect Kanye and his creativity with these shoes, I love them!

Good luck on getting a pair, Mark!

thanks but i’m not going to even attempt to get a pair. From the info I gathered it’s going to be a cluster fuck at harvey nichols tomorrow. They won’t be even giving out numbers to people in line. They’re just going to open their doors and whoever can run inside the fastest gets a pair. I’m not doing that.

That’s how it is here in the US too. To me, it was just a lottery, if I get it awesome, if not, oh well. Why let it ruin your day, you don’t have anything less than you did yesterday.

These are not bad at all. I have seen way uglier sneakers.

If these were regular sneakers, displayed and sold without the connection to Kanye West, I do not think pople would call them ugly.

What resonates with all the bashing of the sneakers is a hate towards Kanye and Kim,

The sneakers are not the problem. It looks like peoples attitude towards Kanye and Kim, wihich is a natural reaction I guess.
