The Kuwait Cat’s Meat Crisis

catstory

The Qatar Digital Library have published an article about a scandal in Kuwait in the 1930s when one restaurant was accused of using cat meat instead of mutton. It’s an interesting read and it also sounds like an incident that could take place today. Kuwait really hasn’t changed much. [Link]

The other day my parents had some old saved newspapers from the 80s I was looking through. The news was almost exactly the same as it was today with some names and places changed

“Government warning of overspending”
“Government to cut subsidies”
“Crisis in neighboring country”
“Parliament has been dissolved”

That’s why I’m always skeptical when people warn of impending doom because of the news. They’ve been saying the same thing forever.

Most local bloggers and social media personnel are intentionally or unintentionally promoting agenda against Kuwait. They are being well paid/sponsored/receiving gifts from three specific neighboring countries. I wouldnt be surprised if any one here ended up in that route…

Finally someone speaks the truth!

Who are those three specific neighbouring countries?

The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Its not Kuwait… Its people. People never change. They do they have the same ambitious and desires… they have the same way of thinking and they make same mistakes.

It was covered in Abdullah Al-Hatim’s book ‘Where it began in Kuwait’. He wrote that the owner was wrongfully accused for serving cat meat to customers. The author’s argument is that owners of other restaurant were jealous of this guy’s success, since his restaurant was cleaner and served better food. Thus, the framing and smear campaign.
