Truefitt & Hill Barbershop Opening in Kuwait

trufitt

Truefitt & Hill is the oldest barbershop in the world established back in 1805 in London, and they’re opening their first location in the Middle East here in Kuwait at the Symphony Mall. I hadn’t heard of them until a redditor mentioned them and according to him they’ll be opening up by the end of the year.

They are probably the BMW of saloons: To survey your head and touch your hair, they charge 15 KD. Then the actual haircut will cost 50 KD – and you’ll still not be happy.

I highly discourage everyone from going there.

I’ve been to the one next to my AirBnB in Colaba (Bombay) and had the worst time ever.

All the barbers there were wearing these uppity, Victorian era suits, which given India’s morbid colonialist past with Britain was just really messed up to see, it was like they were Uncle Tom-ming in a way. (side note: fuck Boris Johnson)

Unfortunately, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Their skills in cutting hair was also severely lacking, they’re apparently trained to cut hair in a glacial place so as to give off the impression that they’re hair masters. They’ll cut your hair slower than Joan Rivers going up a flight of stairs.

It was a nightmare.

And to top it all off, they’re expensive AF.

But I’ll say this about them, they have some really cool hair and beard products on sale that you’re bound to love, Mark.

Well, there is already a british salon and barber in salmiya. The salon/barbers name is Toni and Guy. As far as I know, they hire their haircutters and they send them to UK for an advance training. Toni and guy’s haircut for men costs 10kd. And for women, 30-50kd(not sure). Maybe the fee for the mens haircut on this upcoming barber ship will be around that price.

Finally something for me to do while my wife is at Rola’s – other than window shop at AAB World / B&O.
