House of Saddam

I just started watching the new TV mini-series called House of Saddam and its actually pretty good. The show charts the rise and fall of Saddam Hussein and it focuses on his family and his relationship with his closest advisers. The mini-series is only four episodes long and I’ve already gone through two of them. It actually sucks that there are only four episodes because it is an interesting subject and there is a lot to cover but I guess four episodes are better than one. If you’re interested in watching the show its broadcasted on BBC or you can do what I did and just download the episode off of torrents. [Link]

I watched episode 1 earlier today. Although, as moayad said, it is a bit over dramatised, the events are pretty accurate regarding the hall where they started reading out the names, and the attack in Dujail. But I’m really impressed by the Arabic pronunciations. Not like those American shows where the actor doesn’t even know Arabic or talks in Egyptian dialect when his role is a Gulf Arab, those guys are talking very good IRAQI dialect.
FYI, Saddam’s actor, Yigal Naor, is an Israeli Actor. A touch of irony no?

Guyz come on now.. accurate? What about Saddam’s meeting with Sheikh Jaber in episode 2? I mean first of all such a meeting never took place! In a car? seriously! And that guy didn’t look anything like Sheikh Jaber! Plus Where are Ezat El-Douri, Watban, Sabawey and the rest of the gang! I think it was a cheap attemp to make a movie or series about Saddam, just like "Saddam’s Tribe".. Anyone seen it? It was aired on Channel More Four.. quite funny watching Saddam talking with a think Indian accent!
