A friend of mine just told he saw an ad for KEMS (Zajil) in the newspaper saying that you can get an 8MB DSL connection for only 8KD. For more details you have to visit their stand at InfoConnect. Anyone know anything about this???
update: I just called Zajil and this is there offer.
Now until February 9th they have a special 3 in 1 deal. When you sign up for their DSL connection you get a free dial up connection AND access to all their hotspots in Kuwait. Here are their prices:
256KB DSL + Dial up + Zajil Hotspots = KD96 a year (KD8 per month)
512KB DSL + Dial up + Zajil Hotspots = KD179 a year (KD15 per month)
1MB DSL + Dial up + Zajil Hotspots = KD349 a year (KD29 per month)
You can get more info by calling them on 820820
I think the 1MB connection for KD29 is a really good deal and add to that free access to the hotspots and it makes things a lot more interesting. I am really tempted to swap over from Qualitynet to Zajil now.
note: The Zajil Hotspots can hit up to 8MB thats why they are saying 8KD for 8MB.

8 MB For zajil Wifi thats what i saw on AlWatan Newspaper
a friend of mine in the UK pays 12.5kd a month for 4mb and we’re gna get 8mb for 8kd? 😛
8KD per month or per day?
:: I think starts from KD8 ! may be for one year contract or 2, MTC makes it upside down for all ISPs Wataniya is going to luanch/upgrade another internet issue. Lets see what Qnet & FT has
or per hour?
maybe its an early april fools joke
no its 8 KD For downloading only 8 MB file:P
That’s an excellent deal from an excellent provider (we have a KEMS line at work… I dunno how many MB but there are tons of users yet it’s always fast).
well qnet is off my list of isp’s to get dsl from… and since ft sux i guess its between kems and united net… any update from them??
daaaaaamn.. my subscription with Qnet ends in Jan 2008:P i guess i have to wait for info next yr 😛
Sounds excellent. *goes to check further more*
I will wait for K’s opinion on these things.
i need to check with TivoGuy on this kems offer..
This offer has been around ages ago, they dont advertise much. The price cuts seem very attractive.
well she told me its a offer just for infoconnect and it expires on feb 9th
Has anyone transitioned from one provider to another i.e, now that KEMS’s rate is attractive why not dumpt Quality net and go for KEMS. There might be an issue with getting the DSL connection transfered from the Ministry(activated and reactivated)
BTW is the KEMS rate without any restrictions (download cap, or blocks P2P)
what’s “Zajil Hotspots ” !! do u told if u use KEMS DSL (8MB connection) i will not have lagging in games ?? cuz Qnet sucks 🙁
What do u know about KEMS ?
Is it reliable ? No frequent disconnect ? Speed as advertised ?
Anyone tried it before .. Please share ..
it’s time for a Kuwait ISP PRICE WAR!!!
Bring it on.
I know a few friends who have KEMS in office, it is good, however this is their retail launch offer so am not sure of support.. BTW Qnet phone support takes so long to connect…
ok , dose anyone have any idea whats the best connection for ONLINE GAMEING !?
i have have the 512kb united ( showtime ) , very good at download/upload p2p . But horrible at Gameing and gives you lagging and High PING in games ( i tried the 1MB..has the same problem ) !
any word form FT ..?
One of my friends came back from the Infoconnect exhibition
QNet also has a stall there and they are offering
256KB DSL + Dial up + random gift = KD180 a year (KD15 per month)
512KB DSL + Dial up + random Gift = KD250 a year (KD21 per month)
1MB DSL + Dial up + gifts = KD460 a year (KD38 per month)
There is also a stupid bandwidth limiting scheme which is slightly lower priced
Now why is Qnet so much more expensive than KEMS, surely they are not stupid or does KEMS offer has any hidden catch
HO probably because qualitynet already has a big chunk of the market while zajil is now trying to get a chunk. zajil wont be able to compete with qualitynet if they offer the same prices.
doesnt mtc e-g0 have some offers? like 8 kd for the usb thingie and 80 kd for the year types 😛
Guys, does it have to be a yearly contract or can i take it for 6 Months?? Please answer anyone..
Mark thanks but surely a 70 KD difference is huge.. I can imagine Zajil undercutting by 10-20 KD.
My friend came back with the KEMS form
There are the hardware and installation section which need investigation
a) what is Linksys All in one Modem charged at 35 KD; There is a Zoom ethernet modem free for annual subscriptions but is the Linksys All in one Modem compulsary along with the Zoom bit
b) What is “Paradyne long reach” charged at 35 KD
c)Onsite installation fee of KD 10 (optional)
If all of these are not optional then the KEMS and Qnet offers are quite compareable
Can the more tecchnically savvy members comment
izgerty
The pricing is efficient for the annual one, however there are 6 month options available though I am not sure on the discount bit
HO all internet providers in Kuwait provide u with a free modem if u subscribe for 1 year. So you dont have to pay for hardware.
Onsite installation is optional because u dont need it. Its not hard to install a modem on your computer.
POOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRNNNNNNN!!!
i heard zajil is even better than Qnet
i called on zajil,s hotline the computer speak,s in arabic no english option
512kb for only (15kd) its really cheap
thank god my qnet subscription just finished 3 days before and i din,t renewd it now i will get zajil,s 512kb for only (15kd)
I’m really thinking about getting the 1MB and using a load balancer between two connections! Its like SUPER SPEED! hehehe! Why try for 2MB when you can get two 1MB connections! Nice!
u guys r lucky …
i’m still stuck with a slow 256 pipe …
enjoy ur downloads … hehe …
512K for 15KD is a great deal. However, the feedback I have received from one of KEMS Technical support is that the speed is a shared 512K and not dedicated like UCC and Qnet. This is way they use the word upto 512K!! Can someone confirm if this is true!!
hell ~ this is so unfair…
I renewed my KEMS 128K DSL on January 31 @ KD 85 for 6 months… they mentioned NOTHING about this new deal, and i am customer since 1996..
~TweeZ~ Noooo porn except via proxifier :]
Hello and sorry didn’t read most of the replies however, the 8mb connection for 8kd is for the wifi in specific restaurants/cafe they will mention to u where you will go and login with the user/pass given to you after the subscription to use the 8mb connection, its a bit good if you live in salmiya maybe and could go to cafe all times to download etc
and just a friendly advice , don’t take a 1 year subscription now at this time , as you see the competition got bad for qnet/ft since mtc and wataniya got into the competition now which leads to fall in prices at any minute not to mention the goverment of communication are already developing all kuwait lines to be able to be used with fiber optic technology(aka cable) which some of you may have noticed the digging around kuwait this and the last whole year, the service will be provided is 8mb and estimated to be as low as 5kd per month , no i’m not joking because its a govermental service like home telephones 35kd subscription per year however no news confirmed about release date or even if it will have limits. no confirmed source just fellow workers in the goverment of communication
Kiraa I dont think I would ever depend on the government for the internet, that means they have to maintain something and their track record when it comes to maintenance is bad!
i’m so switching
Damn this is really hot deal, too bad my Qnet ADSL won’t end before 2 months from now.
I sighed up baby! bye bye QNet forever !
Ive been using KEMS For about 6 months now. I had earlier used Qnet with the same land line. I had to switch lines just to get my internet working. They claimed that my phone line couldnt handle speeds blah blah. I switched to KEMS And I have DOUBLE the speeds, both up and down. On the line that “couldnt” handle the Qnet 1mb/512 connection. There support staff are very friendly and I have faced a problem ONCE with that during that time. Back when i was with Qnet I knew everyone in the call center by name. This is after all my own experience with them and it might be better/worse for you guys. All I know is that KEMS are much, much better than Qnet even back in the days when everyone was on turtle speed dialup.
For those who are current customers of Qnet and wish to renew their subscription with the new offers prices… You can ask them to do one of the following two things (negotiable at Qnet end):
1. Ask Qnet to “extend” your current subscription with the offer price.
OR
2. Renew your subscription and activate it now with an additional number of days equivalent to what the remaining days, of the current subscription, worth against the offer price. This option is really tricky, since it requires a good deal of calculations, in which I –personally– shamefully flunk! =P
Zajil: Offers clean bandwidth (i.e. 256 up/256 down) per user. Not shared like Qnet. That’s why they’re better & a bit more pricey.
As for their hotspots. It’s 8mb SHARED connection, you seriously think each user will get a dedicated 8mb connection? Go to a hotspot & try it out.
I’ve tried out some of their locations in malls & Mishref Coop (Starbucks). I admit it’s speedy, but the more users on the AP, the less bandwidth per user. And of course you can’t use torrents, P2P and play games. Their router isn’t letting them through & I suspect the UPnP is blocked.
So here’s the breakdown:
512MB from Zajil: 256 up & 256 down.
512MB from Qnet: You & your luck.
If you got money to spend. Get yourself a vsat. 😉
Mini 256 up and 256 down means its a 256kb connection.
also just found out that you cant get access to zajil hotspots if you are connected on their dsl connection. u need to disconnect your connection at home to access hotspots.
Mini
I don’t get it
Qnet offers fairly good bandwidth, I have a 256 DSL and it gives 256dn /128 up
I thought the complaint was about Zajil that they share the bandwidth
Regarding P2P and games, is it blocked at their locations or even the home connection blocks these
After seeing the post and reading the commentary, went to InfoConnect last night. Let me begin by saying you have to give credit to QualityNet – they know how to advertise and how to sell. They had one of the bigger booths (and the biggest amongst the ISPs – QualityNet, United, or KEMS) and the most amount of salespeople. Needless to say they were signing up customers left, right, and center.
For KEMS, you really had to want to buy their service – unfortunate because I’ve heard good things about them and their service. We use them at work and my IT Team tells me they’re very reliable. The KEMS booth is located within the Eureka booth. Last night, they didn’t have any KEMS salespeople – just a Eureka salesperson talking about the service and one other Eureka salesperson “signing” people up (checking filled applications, taking money). After asking some initial questions, they asked me to call their call centre 822 822 for more technical questions. Here is what I found out – no upload/download limits (so far) and the salespeople were “pretty sure” they don’t block VOIP.
So even after this uncertainty, I took the plunge and signed up with KEMS for 256 kb for a 1 Year (it was a great price), walked away with a free Zoom Modem/Router, and with an expected installation in about a week.
KEMS doesn’t block VOiP ..
HO its blocked at their locations, but as K said, they dont block VoIP. Only UPnP & P2P & Torrents.
For home you get it unblocked, just have to configure the router to make sure your torrent client goes thru (TCP/UDP) and enable UPnP.
So far I vote for KEMS.
jarabt 5edmathom in Kuwait – Airport men gabel
8 MB = over 500 KB for download
5alatne an9edem
I think it’s good offer
bye
Mini Thanks so zajil does not block P2P at home
I wonder why Qnet has not lowered prices
Mini Thanks so zajil does not block P2P at home
I wonder why Qnet has not lowered prices. One of my friends asked the salesman at Qnet stall in Info connect as to why the prices were higher and he got a lame duck kind of response
I went to Info connect today evening. the Qnet stall was bang in the middle and had to really search for the Zajil stall, thanks to Shan’ neh for mentioning it is in the Eureka stall. They now have a phamplet mentioning “no limits, not shared” but the salesmen were silent on the VOIP blocking bit
Met one of the Zajil senior guys outside the stall. he mentioned that the low prices are only applicable to Info connect and will go up after 9th ( I am not sure if this is a marketing tactic).
Asked one of the Qnet sales guys as to why Zajil’s price was so low, he gave me a classic “I don’t know” blank look… don’t these guys do any competitor analysis. One of the Qnet guys also mentioned that VOIP may be blocked for all the ISPs after 2 weeks as MOCI is considering a proposal to block it
Dey hav a Fucked Up siTe tho..
just to add on to the VOIP blocking thing… a couple of my friends that use pcphonecall.net service have recently found their cards no longer work in Kuwait, and a couple of colleagues have had their internet services suspended for using VOIP.
Strange, my friends confirm that VOIP is working on all ISPs, maybe they study usuage patterns and then block the high users
Off topic mark but –
there was a link here like weeks ago for paying you’re home phone bill online and get a zero account certificate that you can print , i couldn’t find it when i searched the blog i was hopping you could post it again i really need it to get a new dsl account and i can’t get since its Thursday and friady also moc are closed and i want to get that kems offer that expires this Friday , PLEASE HELP ME
I think you can pay the bill online from NBK but there is no printable confirmation
I remember the Infoconnect guys telling me that they can get the no objection if you sign a paper,
Try going to infoconnect and getting a connection without the zero account certificate
thanks HO , but is it true that the offer is extended until the end of hala February?
Hi Jane
Yes, the Zajil call centre guys mentioned that it has been extended till end February
U guys are the best!!!!!thnk u thnk u thnk u!!!ull are beares of amazing news 😀 :D.
ok either the zajil customer care dont know about the offer extension or for some reason they dint wanna tell me…im a lil irritated after calling for about half an hour to reach a guy who it turns out doesnt knw a damn thing….ull knw more abt the company themselves:S
Ok heard that the Zajil offer has some download caps, has someone got the Zajil offer and installed it (now that the exhibition is over). Maybe he/she can throw some light if the offer is truly without any catch
Can anyone please confirm if the offer is still available and if it has any capacity limit..help will be really appreciated…
Hello,i was wondering if someone could help me,id like to knw if the zajil infoconnect offer has been extended and whether it has any bandwith limit
Hi,
The offer is still valid till feb end and can be brought from Eureka… that is what the bright guys at the call centre told me… however there is a lot of confusion on the bandwidth limit… the Eureka guys at Infoconnect were insisting that there are no limits but they were salesmen and did not know a kilobit from a byte…some of my friends speculate that there are download limits otherwise why will KEMS price it at half of Qnet’s rates… only someone who has got the connection can comment on the speed and download limits
i went to kems(zajil) office today, but they said “offer was only for 1 week.” so literally offer has been expired; yet their rate is cheaper than other competitiors.
did u go to the eurkea branch rafian
yes jane at first i went to eureka as it is near to my university. They told me “it was here but now it finishd”. Then referred me to kemps office in liberation tower.
Hi guys,
I went to the branch of the kems located in al-tahreer tawer 3rd floor.
The offer was only for the one week time during exabition in mishref. The present prices are already as mentioned at the website of kems is almost the same as quality.Sad to say for myself and many other fellows reading this lines…we missed the chance. Now perhaps some 1 try to gather info about the E-go and the watania and compai them to each other to get the best offer.Ehat a chance man we really miss it.I should open my eyes more often in future to offers like this. Cheers
I’m using united 2 Mbps DSL its fast enough and there service is good and most of p2p applications work fine.
the best offer i got ever was from mtc it was a year ago, i got the UMTS connection with only 9kd a month and i bought some 3g device and i can play games with good latency and i can download at a high rates 40-70kbps depends and i only pay 9 kd a month and i can access anywhere in kuwait that got service up 😛
omg i replied 6 months later 😀

I am using KEMS ADSL since 1994 (30 years) but when I tried to renew service for 2025, I was told I cannot do that and their service for consumers will end within 20 days and will not be renewed, which is OK for me because I just bought an STC 5G mobile router which is working great.
But my problem is with my mail ID which I have been using for the past 30 years. KEMS are not saying whether they will also delete my email ID, which will be very bad.
I am using this mail ID on their webmail (RoundCube) and also as pop3 mail with Eudora application.
Both Zajil and KEMS have been purchased by a Bahraini Company called Kalaam.
Any idea about future developments with this provider?
Thanks
