and u said there were many activities to do in kuwait…. (at least ur trying lol)

btw i still agree with that article about nothing to do in kuwait ;D

Mark, on a side not. The links to other blogs are gone. I hope that was an error, was using your page as a portal.

I started rearranging the sidebar and then stopped cuz i was busy. should finalize it this weekend. Also improving the search feature since current one is pretty lame.

I do believe there are stuff to do in Kuwait, But the problem lies in the accessibility, cost and conditions..

Lets compare living in somewhere like London/Toronto/Manchester to living in Salwa.

Say your in London sitting at home bored, I can think of a thousand accessible, cheap activities you can do.

Here are some of the top of my head :
1.you can take the underground with your Oyster Card to:
2. to a park
3. to the pub
4. Watch a play
5. Take a walk somewhere around Oxford St.
6. to a concert
7. go on a blind date
8. go clubbing
9. cycle

Now same scenario in Salwa, Kuwait:
There is no subway or another reliable/convenient means of public transport, unless your prepared to suffocate to death due to inhaling too much labor’s sweat, so most of the time you have to take the car. If your under 18 or simply don’t own a car your choices are really limited.
1. Go to Salwa park , (only applies for 4 months a year)
2. Roam the streets
3. A mall
4. Something food related

remember its an “I am sitting at home bored” scenario so activities like going to the gym or horseback riding don’t really apply..

Maybe its not fair comparing Kuwait to one of the most culturally rich and diverse cities in the world, right? But I can come up with a similar list with every other city/town that’s 60% as rich as Kuwait,so countries like Swaziland or Congo don’t count although I can come up with a similar “cheap and accessible activities list” in Cairo.

I endorse the ‘boredom’ ur facing but Hey its just a small trade off for the money your earning here? isn’t it true 🙂

I’m a huge metal fan but what does Kuwait offers? Closed doors ( must-sit zombie audiences ) rock shows ? Absolutely Nothing. The virgin stores offers rip-offs collections of “yuck”…
But hey Life is ok.Can’t compare with other countries and complain.

Still I agree to your view.( am a big fan of London) but its too much your asking for here in Kuwait.

No Offence Intended.

Roopesh , yea i do agree Kuwait has its advantages for sure otherwise no one would have moved here.
what i love most about Kuwait is that its still a very cozy family orientated culture, compared to the west.

having lived in Kuwait 10 years, now back in Europe, yes – boredom is a factor in Kuwait but in London:

1. You could get stabbed if you go down the pub for a drink (ok, no pubs in KWI but you know what I mean)
2. You could get mugged if you go for a walk almost anywhere in London
3. Your car could be vandalised/missing if you leave it on the street overnight
4. You must hand over a huge chunk of your salary to tax/social security
5. You can’t afford a maid, and if you can – she’ll probably steal something from you
6. You’re extremely lucky and very well-paid if you can afford to live in a 1-bedroom cold flat in the city centre… otherwise you’re commuting on an overcrowded dirty underground rail system for an hour just to get to work.

Of course there are 1001 things London has over Kuwait, but it’s not all fantastic 🙂
