April Fools

I don’t think newspapers should participate in April Fools. It’s just lame. Newspapers are supposed to be a source of truth not hoaxes. If you don’t know what I am talking about check the main page of the Kuwait Times. They have an article saying that alcohol is now legal in Kuwait. Its very easy for newspapers to pass a hoax as truth because people trust newspapers. They are taking advantage of this trust, I didn’t fall for it but how many people out there today will? [Link]

Kuwait’s government announced yesterday that alcohol would be legalised in Kuwait starting May 25….

Why use Q8 gov. on fooling?

the site sucks, i think its a blog rather than a properly developed site and they taking advantage of cheap way to publish their news on the internet and for that they can afford a lame joke like this one.

What hurt is the broken trust.
How’bout if someone says K….times.net is really a reliable source of web news…. followed with Happy April Fools Day!
BTW 10nx 4 Q8 newsppr links…really timely!bye4now!

That was really one of the worst April Fools jokes ever. They really, really shouldn’t play around with something like that, since it’s such a controversial issue.

I dispise soicialists, however, i would rather have a socialist gov here than a backwards religious gov.

But, never fear, the time will come in the next three to five years, when the top dogs in kuwait will be fighting for the wikallaat of absolute, j.walker and smirnoff, at around the same time the touristic projects in failaka will have opened for business.
I mean come on! you dont think that the gov spent billions of KD in failaka and other tourism projects just for the kuwaitis to visit them do yuo???
The islamists wont be able to say anything once that is up and running.. you ask why? . ok because they wont have the backing of the major voting sheep of kuwait, why?? because, if you remember rightly, the prime minister explained that these projects will be owned by the people of kuwait, every kuwait will have shares in these projects that they connot sold off, and remember what was promised on the front covers of the newspapers.. EACH KUWAITI will have an extra income of upto KD3,000 extra from these projects.
Money is on the mind of the majority of the kuwaiti voting sheep. thay will tell these religious idiots to shove it where the sun dont shine.

For them to actually use that as their April fools day joke means that its on the list of things people want it Kuwait, they are sorta letting people get use to the idea in a way..

Come on…How many of you not only believed it but wished it true? Who can’t take a joke? It was meant in fun. I thought it a great break from the usual suicide attacks in Iraq and Islamists and liberals grilling some minister in parliament. And besides Al-Rai, Anbaa and other newspapers also played April Fools’ jokes. Anyone remember the joke about moving the Kuwait Towers? Kuwait Times’ joke just happened to be really funny and interesting because so many people want alcohol in Kuwait.

al watan said that the oil was gonna finish, but the dum thing was that they put the joke at the back of the paper and the truth in the front. What dumm asses.
HAPPY APRIL FOOLS EVERY BODY

i juz think its a brilliant marketing strategy…
comeon u guys//…bet a lot of u bought the paper..

i got up in the morning just read the headlines(kuwait times) and rushed out of house as i was runing late, and on my way i literally called all my friends and told them about this news, which we all felt was a bad news….till i reached work and finally read and couldnt stop laughing ๐Ÿ˜€ Happy valentines Day every one ๐Ÿ™‚

my friends,

this is a joke, yes, but in my opinion so much more.

it is the embodiment of a whole liberal social movement that has recently taken the country by storm in the last couple of years, only in the easy to digest coating of a joke.

and I do very much hope it does it’s job.

everybody needs to pull their heads out of their asses, and realize that only in the favoring of individual choice (so long as that choice harms no others) above the collective organized choice of religion, politics, and/or economics is the only way to progress and hapiness.

or perhaps mankind is still to much of an animal (a sheep, perhaps? or a dog amoung the topdogs?) to live in such a fashion.

i believed it also, and it’s about time alcohol is already there !!!,just needs to be legal ,it’s legal everywhere

It was a cruel joke, especially to all the thirsty expats dying to go to the store and buy a six pack of beer whenever the hell it suits them

But I bet it was their biggest selling issue!

its okii all the newspapers do it all over the world..
seriously people cant take jokes anymore. its april fools so it doenst matter if even the newpapers take part..

and il.7mdlah its not true !!

Chowawa… an American friend was in Saudi for a week on business and he went to a few parties. He said the booze was flowing like nobody’s business and for every letter of the alphabet there’s a corresponding drug!!

โ€˜April foolโ€™ pranksters under probe: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information Sheikh Faisal Al-Malek has referred the cast of the TV program โ€˜Baitakโ€™ for interrogation, reports Al-Anba daily. It has been reported the program was interrupted to announce the National Assembly had approved a proposal to write off outstanding loans of citizens. However, after a short time the program was interrupted again to say the announcement was an April Foolโ€™s joke. Al-Malek told the Al-Seyassah daily the Kuwait TV is official media and persons should distance themselves from making illegal use of government media.

2 things:
Someone in an earlier response said their friends thought that legalizing alcohol was bad news? Get new friends!

It’s an Aprils fools joke, many reputable publications and communications providers do this…chill.

Guys, Take it easy, Am as thirsty as the rest of you. Alcohol Does exist by Containers in Kuwait So its nothing new, But nothing beats popping into the local hotel on a hot afternoon for a pint of brewski! Trust me, it will be legalised oneday as Kuwait has to Improve its Tourism strategy. Yes it does! Think of the posh malls widely spread all over the country, We have tooo many shops but hardly any shoppers, Look at the Airport for the love of god, it looks like a school yard during holiday, WHAT I MEAN IS Millions of Dinars are spent but nothing is earned back in Profit!
The problem is the government is to slow to realise that ALCOHOL = A MASSIVE FINANCIAL SUCCESS, unclear? Look at UAE and its successful STEPS it took.
All I can advice the drinkers, Enjoy the weekend in Jomireh Beach, Ritz Carlton has a really cold pint of weise beer! Regards

5 teenage girls, aged between 16-17, created 17 question mark boxes from Super Mario Brothers with info gleaned from website Qwantz.com and placed them in public places around the town of Ravenna, Ohio as a joke. One box was noticed by a concerned citizen, who reported the “suspicious package” to local authorities. Haz-mat Units and a Bomb Squad were called out to investigate, but were cleared of not having anything dangerous in them. One of the girls turned herself in. Authorities plan to press criminal charges, which some have viewed as too harsh.
