They must have upgraded the emergency services in Kuwait because recently I’ve just been hearing great stuff about them. I previously posted about how a girl who was getting kidnapped by a taxi driver was able to SMS 112 for help and have them respond very quickly and today zDistrict posted about his experience with 112 which was also as impressive. Check out his post [Here]

Happy to hear that,,,
I while back I read about an interesting trial concept. They numbered every lamppost in the city and whenever someone reports a motor accident all they mention is the number on the nearest lamppost and direction (northbound/southbound) that enables the rescue team to narrow down the location to within 50 meters. All emergency vehicles and fitted with GPS device with the numbers programmed. That concept saved a lot of time coordinating between the person calling, operator and response vehicle.
I would disagree with their efficiency, actually burashed on watan tv made a comment about this and how true was his comment.
Zdistrict mentioned everything as what burashed said, and I too have had to go through the process.
The term police dispatcher or whatever the term maybe is not really being used efficiently.
Whats the purpose calling and telling them about the accident if i am to receive 7 different calls from various people to communicate the same info I communicated in the first place.
It should be one call, one log and that log gets logged out to all the nearby units, like the movies.
Watch any hollywood movie with a police squad car and how they get the log and notice the difference.
Lethal weapon is a perfect example of this.
Yes they are. Plus they have a very good response team. They get the Job done now matter who u are. The 112 Team are one of the BEST TEAM in Kuwait. This is thru real life experience with them. The Cops on the other hand are not all that good Lazy guy, But with 112 Team they get the job done no matter what or how small the incident is.
Nawaf true but in this case marzouqs call wasn’t and emergency and so they might have routed his call differently to clear up the line?
i read his story
that’s a real improvement
keep it up guys
my experience with them wasnt the greatest…dont get me wrong, if that taxi girl story was true, then i am very impressed…however, the other day i was at a friends house..he lives in salwa..and apparently there was some sort of wedding celebration…u know where 100000 cars block the street and one car starts to skid around o takhmeesat?? well that happened and we called 112..keep in mind this is salwa, there is a police station about 3 minutes away…the skidding o el takhmeesat lasted for about 10 minutes…and the cars had their license plates removed so we couldnt do much…..AAAAND no one showed up AT ALL….not a single cop…oh and when we did call 112 they already knew about it cuz apparently other neighbors had called them..
Me too mine wasnt that gr8 neither.. I was once tanning at the beach and a girl next to me wasnt even swimming or had anything on her head so she was fixing her umbrella and suddenly the situation wasnt that nice, she got a seizure and her eyes started turning white her noise dripped blood and she fainted just infront of my eyes. I was shacking, but i re actted and called 112 but it took them 20 minutes to arrive and after 5 mins the girl woke up but if something worse happened to her. I would blame them!!
777 is among the BEST run public service in Kuwait..PERIOD! I called them to report an accident and it was dealt with amazingly.
Don’t know where they get their training from, but they definitely represent the pinnacle of professionalism.
Keep it up!!
The 112 number is a global number used in many countries for emergencies. It allows for a lot of things, including location tracking and the ability to call this number even when you don’t have network coverage.
The director of central operations in the MOI, Lt. Colonel Khalid Bin Salamah, is the man responsible for the 112 service. He’s a good man, and he should be given some credit for the excellent service being provided now since he took over 🙂
عاشو آل بن علي و آل بن سلامة 🙂
I had a guy follow my wife home. She called me and I told her to lock the doors and windows. Well before she knew it the guy is trying to open the door. I called 777 and told them there was a guy trying to break into my house and that my wife was alone with my baby boy. I took me 45 minutes to get home from my job. For those 45 minutes all the dispatcher kept telling me was wait 5 minutes, wait 5 minutes, wait 5 minutes. The guy was still trying to get in. I told the cops what was happening and they said “why don’t you come to my office to file a report”. I told them I was holding the guy and I thought he was kuwaiti. The cops were at my door 3 minutes later. First they said my wife invited him over. So I asked them if the guy spoke english, no he doesn’t. Then I told them my wife didn’t speak arabic. I also told them if my wife wanted him in the house why would we have been calling 777 for almost an hour. Then they brought us both to the station and they wanted the guy to press charges against me for holding him until the cops came.IMHO emergency services suck
sad story
JC, by law you cannot hold anyone against their own will, thats called kidnapping, even if he is a trespasser, but you have the right to defend yourself.
Legal is complicated, in all matters, the best you can do is file a report for finger prints, and it helps to have witnesses also one more advise, if your matter is not addressed at a police station you can always go to a lawyer for pressing charges, in these cases things change.
Very good job done Kuwait police
And to get back to normalcy:

Disgusting.
All I can say is, now that this happened we can fix it.
Hey JC same shit happened with my wife.. no holding any one against their will or anything like that but just as scary. My wife is an air hostess and 01 day after work she saw that she was being followed by this asshole on her way home. She freaked out and called me I told her to calm down and change lanes and take a new route home just to be sure. She called me back in 2 min and told me that the freak was still following her and was now flashing his lights at her and she was totaly scared now. I told her stay calm and dont drive home coz we live alone plus I work at the border and would have taken me at least 50 minutes to get home. I told her to drive to her folks place. I called 112 and it was a nightmare the first 5 minutes was spent trying to explain what was going on coz they didnt speak english and my broken arabic didnt help. Finally an arabic speaking colleauge got on the phone and explained what was going on that took another 10 minutes coz they wanted details of my name where I live and work, my wifes name, her profession all that shit;after all that can you believe what the cop on the other end of the line told him?? The cop told him to tell me to come to the police station and file a report or call her and tell her to go the nearest police station. Fucking unbelieveable!!! Professional my ASS!!!! LMAO at the thought that 112 is professional.Lucky for us the bastard drove off when he saw my brother and father in law who my wife called on her way to their place. If this happened in the States and had she called 911 the dispatcher would have stayed on the phone with her the whole time and at the same time would be dispatching any or all available cruisers to her location and grab the bastard. AND THEN AND ONLY THEN would she be required to give a statement. NOT a pre rape /pre mollestation or after rape/after mollestation report that is required here in Kuwait.
The best way to avoid delaying time in getting the exact location is to post a unique number big enough to be viewed from let’s say 1 km as an identification of the exact location, so anytime any accident happens, you can read the nearest number and inform the officer so he can get to the location faster.
Ya, i know it is a big and expensive project but if it saves at least 1 life, it’s worth it.
I have to disagree before a month I got into an accident and the engine didn’t start at all so I called and I waited for more than a hour after that I just got a tow truck and went home and till this day nobody called.
And to add the people they hire to pick up the phone don’t have any sense of direction I told her my exact place and she just kept telling me a random places I was telling her I am on the 6th ring road before AL-Fahahel road just after the Mishref exit and she told me “so you’re in Mishref?” overall it was a really bad experience next time around I won’t call them I will just get a tow truck and save myself the wait.
