Freedom of internet access

Looks like the ISP’s vs MOC situation is going to get a bit more interesting in the coming few days.

MP Al-Barrak announced that he will reveal soon a contract between an individual and a company that proves the current violations committed by internet service providers that aim to erode freedom of internet access. The MP stressed that the formation of a governmental committee to probe this issue was rather an attempt to hide it.

The ISPs wanted to pressure the MOC, they got a shit storm instead.

Now you got ISP licenses given to others by the MOC , a review of your own license and practices by the Kuwait Parliament. An Internet protest movement by the customers.

Lesson to ISPs: dont screw your customers.

I don’t really believe that ISP’s wanted to put pressure on MOC by introducing caps; they wanted to make more money, period. they could have sat down and agreed to limit their user numbers and not offer service for new customers. Or apply their policy on selected users how download x number of TB a month.I would go further and say that they never expected the storm coming at all; competition, higher speeds, lower prices is not what they want, they just love how it is right now. or not.

did anyone hear about GulfNet offering free DSL, no catch? the ad said “internet on us, router on you”..

is this their way of running ahead of the competition in this internet turf war we are witnessing?

There doesn’t seem to be any details on their website aside from that add. Has anyone tried calling them to get more info?

I really hope that they are taking note of the situation and realize that they could win this internet war because most customers will either renew or cancel their subscription and opt for the better ISP. Hope Mada is the one.

Because if they have a good deal I swear I’ll cancell my current subscription to Quality Zeg and get Mada.

It still pisses me like it did for everyone else, the arrogant way in which their top secret ISP dude spoke from the last related post. They don’t get it, they think their users are marginal and they can do whatever they please. But like don Vito said, they underestimated us.

Let us all keep fueling the shit storm raining down on them, down with the ISPs, free the Internet…

far as i know, its 68kps or something like that, just above dialup…still not bad for something that’s free…but honestly with the stupid download caps customers are being limited to low speeds like this anyway… guess gulfnet has some spare bandwidth on its hands

I have read it over and over again and still cant seem to make sense of it, neither in or out of context. You cant just smash 5 different facts into a single sentence.

Or ISP’s might just pay up thousands of dinars as bribe to the ministers to cover this issue up, isp’s can stoop to very low levels, after all its our cash that they are playin with.

Oh snap! This is going to be very interesting! Those ISPs had it coming and you know what they deserved every single second of it! I hope they learned a valuable lesson from all of this including future internet providers. If you have a problem don’t use your customers as a threat card in the face of MOC’s.

Learn to be a problem solver! Call your own customer service and get some advice on how to trouble shoot the issue. 😛 You got Noobs sitting there who tell you to restart the routers and everything will be ok! XD

The government and majlis el umah are the main reason for our poor infrastructure. Our electricity generators are below global standards, our internet is below global standards, etc etc..and all they care about is fighting to give the citizen 50KD.

I agree Fahad. Our parliament used to be a shinning example of political freedom in the region but now it is a useless joke that is actually hurting our progress.

Seriously the government is doing the best for their citizens, and all we do is berate on what they do.
They are the reasons we are who we are today, they raised us on the better, they know whats out their, let them do what ever they want, because on the far run its going to be better.

fahad and PFunk, all i want to say is thank you for your opinion i respect it. But “Our Parliament” as i said is doing the best for us. And our generators are okay! wat do you want Solar power?… WELL we cant because the sun in kuwait isn’t really for that. We have generators just incase something happens.

THE GOVERMENT IS RIGHT !
