George Bush in Kuwait

George Bush

George Bush is coming to Kuwait today (Friday) as part of his trip to the Gulf. I heard a lot of the roads will be closed, I hope that isn’t true since I don’t want to get stuck in Salmiya all day. [Link]

oh god.. anyone can make a perfect suicide attack from the link you provided, why they disclose this trip in that much details 🙂

There’s something quite off with his trip. He’s giving a speech on freedom in UAE and meeting with Kuwaiti women in Kuwait, but doing none of those in Saudi Arabia. If you asked me, I think he should concrete on those two issues in Saudi Arabia more than anywhere else in the region.

In Saudi? Are you kidding me? People in Saudi are thick headed and nothing on those lines can be accomplished there. The Mullahs wont let anything happen there…and if the parliament in Kuwait dont change…we can soon see Kuwait becoming like that too.

Meets with Kuwaiti women? How vague…

I do not know which roads in Kuwait they will close down today, but I am aware of inconveniences in the morning that affect myself and co-workers in particular. Does not look like the start to a fun day 🙁

Portion from link below…

“… the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, Ryan Crocker. He also meets with Kuwaiti women. Travels to Bahrain to meet with King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa.”

yeah thats just great. Maybe he should start by talking about the
re-segregation of universities here. Now theres looking to the future for you!!

I had to go to the airport this evening to drop someone, about the time he arrived. Saw Air Force One from outside and a couple other of his aircrafts. And on the way back, a part of the 6th ring road was blocked and traffic diverted.

On May 2006 President Bush gave a speech at our university graduation ceremony. We did not even notice a difference in activity in the town that day. He just came in his Air Force One Helicopter, gave the speech, and left in less than one hour. In Kuwait, I used to struggle everyday when going to work because I used to cross the same route that the amir used everyday at the same time of his convoy.

I got stucked on the 6th road for 1:15 hour, they said he was passing by on his way to the airport…when i came back at around 8h, the other way was also closed for an hour…did he forget something or what?!

Bush is staying at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, so they gave all employees of ADNOC (whose headquarters and offices are right across the street from the Palace) Sunday and Monday off. And the Hilton Abu Dhabi, which is right beside ADNOC, has been emptied. And they’re probably gonna close off a good chunk of the Corniche, as well as Marina Mall.

Yaaaay Bush and stuff.

Bush meeting with Kuwaiti women ?? I am not so sure Baby Bush knows enough about the Milan or the New York Fashion week for him to have something to discuss with them. Perhaps, they can teach him how to weave a Kuwaiti quilt and he give them lessons in extortion and buggery.

In Dubai, all private and government companies were given official holiday on Monday due to major closures of main roads, bridges, and tunnels. They will mainly be closed from 6am to 5pm.
