OH GOD! Really? That’s a shame.
Oh no, it was my favourite hip and groovy building in Salmiya- now we know all is really lost in Salmiya!
good riddance. i had really bad memories from going to the dentist in that place as a kid.
This building was considered luxurious in its heyday during the 70’s. In fact, former Kuwait national football team coach and 3-time World Cup winner, Mario Zagallo, used to live in this building.
LOL @ post 14! HAHA!
salam complex, tsk, my dentist used to be there.
and yeah theyre taking down salam complex, most of souq salmiya and the infamous “haunted” parking to make a mall
Ditto!!
Oh shoot …. thats where my dental clinic was …. damn …. em malls … mE
Haunted Parking ? Somebody call the Ghost Busters
lol@ 14 the guy is such a troll.
R.I.P
Thats where I used to go for gargean in Ramadan, the rich people lived there we figured, cause it was green and round.
Instead of candy they used to give money, like ربع دينار. After that head down to waleed toy store an get those tricks, the best was the stink bombs. Down to hungry bunny and break one there. Then you’d still have change for a zaroukh ice cream –
worry free – stress free – responsibility free – That is what the green round building represents for me 🙂
why was that parking haunted? strangely it was never used
It’s great hearing all your memories from the 70’s and the round green building 🙂
I don’t understand tho’ why there isn’t more of an effort to renovate instead of knock down, in Kuwait. i don’t mean the 1980s buidlings, but the older ones and make something modern yet old out of them. Does nobody in Kuwait study architecture…..and aesthetics?
True what mark said…Salmiya would never be the same again
What’s next on the list to scrape?
lol @capital records
@ Rayboy
i dont believe it was haunted, i lived 5 minutes from it, so much went on the roof of it, illegal shit ofcourse…
but yeah … in the 1990 invasion, alot of people pretty much took refuge in there, they parked their cars inside and lived in them literally, till the day many of them were killed by iraqi’s…
thats what ive heard…dont know if its true
Why they taking this down!!! not very nice… i coming too much angry now!
IT is true it was an icon of the 70’s but the last 10 years it became a trash , full of apartments for married men to get thier Girl firends and party away from thier wifes ( from the 4th floor up till the 10th) and nothing but the trash of beautiful kuwait was lurking around it , it is about time to remove such buildings and replace them with proper modern immage for our lovely country , Salmiya is full of building that sould be removed , during the invassion only the first few weeks pepole lived in it , then the Iraqis moved in and stole every thing , after that it never became the same . What is the story with the parking building behind it ?
I was actually serious. If you’ve got pictures, why not share them.
Good call A.Albaz: Capital Records…. that’s what it reminded me of too!! 🙂

Sadly I dont remember this building quite well, but i am going to drive there and check it out my self. I do remember that there was a round building in that area but not green and the empty parking lot as well..
Its a shame the building is gone. Salmiyah will never be the same.
@khalid sorry but you are wrong it was not rented for people to have their girl friends and party, for the last 10 years there were few new people renting and the owners will not rent to these kind of people u were refering to.
I am still waiting for Salmiya Cinema (a historic theater alongside Andalus) that was demolished to show its new face.
I went there yesterday and noticed that the building still stands!!!!
All the Apt’s have been emptied yet there is ONE left with lights on
and curtains. I guess its ready to be demolished…
