Got Into a Fight

I went to Alghanim Electronics tonight to pay for an installment. There was a queue of around 10 people and I came and stood with them in line. Two minutes pass by when suddenly an Egyptian guy in his 30’s comes and stands in front of me. At first I thought he was with the guy in front of me but then I realized he didn’t stand next to the guy, he stood behind him. So I tapped the guy on the shoulder and asked him what he was doing. He told me he had forgotten something in the car and that he just went down to get it and came back up. I told him well when I came he wasn’t there and that he should just stand behind me in line. He refused, so we started arguing over it. I mean it wasn’t anything major, it was just over a place in line and we were both standing at the end of it. We started lightly shoving each other and yelling out insults when a guy a few places in front of us in line told me I could stand in front of him. I told him thanks but its not about the position in line anymore. This fuckhead came in out of nowhere and cut in line in front of me. If he had explained to me nicely before coming into line that he was there before me I would have let him cut in in front of me since its only 1 space but instead the guy decided to arrogantly come in as if I was invisible.

Alghanim employees although abundant didn’t seem to care about this little scuffle going on in the line, its as if they were bored and this was their entertainment. I couldn’t for one back out of this fight since I had been placed in a corner. If I stopped scuffling with the guy what would I do next? Just quietly get in line behind this fuckhead as if nothing happened? That wasn’t gonna happen.

Suddenly the Egyptian guy gave me a semi strong shove with one hand, I took that as a sign of aggression and decided to go ahead and let him have it. By then my leg had already started shaking from all the adrenalin rush and I was just waiting for him to get just a bit more aggressive so I could make my move. I grabbed the guy with my two hands on his shirt and I forcefully shoved him 2 meters back onto a fridge. I then picked him up again while he was stumbling and pushed him back hard onto the fridge again. I then grabbed him and started punching his face. Suddenly I felt someone pull me back and the other guys in the queue started to break up the fight. One guy from the queue yelled at an Alghanim employee for not stopping the fight from the beginning, the Alghanim employee told him its not part of his job.

Anyway Nat was with me and she told me we should get out of the place and that the guy wasn’t worth it and so we left. I spent the rest of the walk back home wishing I had punched the fucker in the nose to make him bleed.

Wow Mate. That was one mean guy. And I totally can relate & agree to what you did. I hate when that happens too. Sometimes at ATM’s when someone cuts through the line..mostly locals..I just give a mean nasty look because of my limited Arabic Vocab.Man I really need to learn how to swear in Arabic. Take care & have a wonderful New Years Eve.Cheers!!

If you get into a fight, make sure you leave a lasting mark on the other one, always go to the balls, and go three times.

I had a similar experience 2 months back in a bank while I was in the queue.. surprisingly he was also Egyptian in his early 40’s I was waiting for a while and the guy behind me was the egyption when the bank clerk called NEXT the egyption guy takes over my turn and goes down to the clerk!! So I went along next to him and told the clerk I was before him, clerk was cooperative and believed me and just ignored the guy and finished my business

Conclusion

I think we arabs still do not take in what a queue is egyptions rank top

hehehehe, nice, I really hate it when someone does that, if like he’s more important than you and has the right to just pass you. It happens to me all the time and I tell people with agression to stand behind me, but the most that makes me go crazy when someone just comes out of the line in a traffic jam and wants to pass in front of you. Anyway, you made me happy with you kickin the guy’s ass 🙂

im seriuously embarassed to say this most probably happens with egyptians, damn them they’ve ruined our reputation, still im with mark 100%

What is it with the blatant disrespect for lines in this country? I’ve never seen it anywhere else.

Next time do what my husband does. As soon as someone cuts you in line, simply pick them up by their shirt and put them at the end of the line.

A lot of racism here. I don’t have anything against Egyptians and I didn’t pick a fight with this guy because he was Egyptian. He was a dickhead thats why I fought with him.

Beeee3 I hate AlGhanim but I hate Eureka more.

strewth! serious racism indeed man! mark man, well done…at least next time he’ll think twice ‘afore pushing in!

Mark,
I think it was a big mistake from you to tell the nationality of the man because this is an individual action & not related to Egyptians. In any nationality you can find the good & the bad people. Most of Teachers are Egyptians, Doctors are Egyptians, lawyers are Egyptians, Dr. Farouq Albaz(NASA) is Egyptian, Dr. Magdy Yaqoub is Egyptian,Om Kalthoum was Egyptian…etc
I think you should apologise for Egyptians instead of making others insulting them. Thanks

Egyptian if the guy was Lebanese I would have mentioned his nationality, if the guy was Korean I would also have mentioned his nationality. I didn’t mention the nationality because he was egyptian, I mentioned it because that was his nationality.

Egyptian:
Apologize?????? For what? If there is anyone disgracing you and your ooh so great nation, that would be your country-man. Speaking of disgracing your magnificent country and country-men: did you watch the images of the innocent southern- Sudanese refugees killed in your ooh so great country? Well guess what, the committers of this atrocity (i.e. embarrassment/disgrace for your country )were your country men as well….
And what do all these apparently great people you mentioned have to do with Mark’s fight anyways???

waleed and egyptian
you’re both lame
Egyptian: nothing wrong in mentioning someones nationality – its the crappy piece of paper that defines their legal status in the world
Waleed: this crappy piece of paper (american arabs, british arabs, kuwaiti iranians, saudi lebanese all show how you hold one nationality -paper-and originate from somewhere else) and its totally upto you which culture you immerse yourself in
plus, stereotypes sometimes ring true…sometimes they dont…and most of the time theyre just an easy way to justify your prejudices

ArabLondoner: I do not see the link between what I’ve said and…. (“having nationality A, yet originating from country B, or having culture C or what have you”)….Where did that come from? Is it possible that it has something to do with a struggle you might be having in the UK ”ArabLondoner” now a days, which has totally nothing to do with what happened to Mark nor with comment I left to Egyptian????
Anyway, it’s not my intention to turn Mark’s blog to a commenting war-zone. Sorry about that Mark. Happy New Year man.

I would have hit much sooner that you did but good control on your part. But word of advice don’t start a fight and the wife is there. You just might end up in the police station and you don’t want this headache for her. That’s all but good job anyway never take bullshit from anyone no matter what their nationality is.

heh, i admit i am a bit racist towards egyptians (amongst others), but everybody is a bit racist anyway whether they know it or not. so many ppl hate kuwaitis in general bc of the shite they do, but i know that at least SOME don’t hate me as a person, and that’s all that fucking counts.
it’s better to realise it and live with it, then to try to fake supress it and be all PC.
PS mark, technically, mentioning the person’s race or ethnicity in a journalistic article is considered redundant unless it serves a cause. however you’re blogging and not writing for the NY times so it’s ok.

hehehe no problem. that’s like one of the first things i learned in journalism skooool. “why do we NEED to know that the assailant was black? did he steal from the NAACP? it has to be relevant to a cause in the article or it risks being less objective” hehehe

racist as well, had many experiences with egyptians in school.. they’d always ask for stuff/money and act silly and yes, i never wasted money on egyptian movies and i do not find them funny

Ooh…And is this the best you could come up with??
Pretty lame English proficiency though for a guy calling himself Arab-Londoner: “Nationality doctor……”
Have a nice life dude.

Ok mate 🙂 sorry but you asked for it…i dont like stooping so low but “ArabLondoner: I do not see the link between what I’ve said and….” fullstops and the quotation marks following on are fantastic examples of your prowess in punctuation.
“(“having nationality A, yet originating from country B, or having culture C or what have you”)….Where did that come from? Is it possible that it has something to do with a struggle you might be having in the UK ”ArabLondoner””. I won’t even bother:D
“now a days” i see waleed:D “now a days” i assume would be the beginning of a sentence explaining what type of object a “days” is!
which has totally nothing to do with what happened to Mark nor with comment I left to Egyptian???? (definite article missing there i’m sure you’ll agree)
Not by far the best i can come up with – but then why bother? I have “lame English proficiency”:D i should really fly over to your humming dynamo of linguistic achievement and ask you how exactly you can present that as a grammatically correct sentence.
Arablondoner? of course nothing to do with my language skills although being a native speaker of English does play a small part in the name.
Waleed – the education and upbringing you recieved is infinitely inferior to mine.
All in good spirit dawg…aaoooooooooh

Instead of going on with your pathetic life, you managed to make a bigger fool out of yourself this time, by posting a comment in which you criticize my language skills, with a writing of an average illegal Arab migrant-worker (I cab already hear the thick accent) residing in London, yet claiming to be a native English speaker.
In a piece of approximately 200 words, you have managed to miraculously “oversee” not less than 17 grammar, punctuation and stylistic errors, 7 of which are primary school material. Very ironically, don’t you think?
As for my upbringing and educational background being “infinitely inferior” to yours: sure, why the hell not?
Again, have a nice life.

Yeas indeed, its a very thick accent:D
Many people “cab” empathise with you.
Of course if you worked that out by drawing my attention to my “with a writing”, then, yes you are correct!
It is most ironic that you found that to be “very ironically”!
Please, i beg you, increase my fun! REPLY! Plus, send me your bank details – I’ll wire over some funds to your account so you can hire an English teacher:D You’re not bad but not fantastic…by any means.
My life was nice and is constantly getting nicer.

arabLondoner: As someone who knows neither you nor Waleed, I have to let you know that you are embarassing yourself here. The fact that you don’t know that “now a days” (or “nowadays” as it is most often spelled) is an actual phrase, and that there was no “article” missing from that sentence, shows that your language skills are starkly inferior to Waleed’s. Thanks for the humor though!

Firstly:
https://www.webster.com/dictionary/nowadays
(by the way, an adverb is a modification of a verb, adjective or other adverb)
Secondly:
I insist. No offence, however there was a missing article – unless of course you would also say: “nothing to do with what happened to Mark nor with comment I left to Egyptian????”. To that i would personally say: NO COMMENT and LMFAO.

I must say this gives me infinite pleasure – i have now discovered two people who have recieved a far more inferior education and upbringing to myself. That doesnt mean much unfortunately because i didnt recieve a fantastic one to be honest!

F on – thanks for the comment though – you ignored his howlers and thought you found something to make you shine 😀 my comiserations…
F on (that)
sweeeeet lol
