Harley Crash

vrod

I was with Nat and had just parked my car near Shoo Shawerma? which is located near Sultan Center when I heard the sound of motorbikes. I looked towards the Gulf Road and saw three Harleys zoom by probably going around 80km an hour. I continued walking when I heard the loud sound of the bikes suddenly down shifting and then what sounded like a skidding sound. I told Nat it sounded like a bike skidding and she told me it was probably just their engine sound. I looked towards where the sound came from and noticed a car had put its emergency flashers on. I told Nat it was the bikers and we ran towards the scene.

When we got to the scene cars had already stopped and people had gotten out to help the bikers. There was one rider lying on the grass on the side of the road being looked after. He had a broken nose and was in pain. One of the bikers who was riding with him was next to him talking to him while the third biker was moving the bikes off the road with the help of some people. Around five minutes later an ambulance arrived. Four other bikers (sport not cruisers) who were passing by realized it was a biker who was injured and parked their bikes and got down to see if anyone needed any help.

I spoke to one of the guys on the scene and it turns out a woman came out onto the Gulf Road from one of the side exits behind Sultan Center and she went from the far right lane across all the way to the far left lane. She hadn’t seen the three bikers and all they could do was brake suddenly trying to avoid her. At first I thought only one biker slid but I think a second biker had also slid because there was another bike that was damaged.

I don’t know if the biker is fine and what injuries he has but hopefully he will be ok. Even though it was the womans fault I am glad she at least stopped her car and didn’t drive away. She was crying at the scene and was very apologetic and kept yelling she hadn’t seen them. I had another friend who also slid and crashed when a woman ran a red light and he had to brake to avoid her. That woman never stopped and kept driving off.

You have got to be really really stupid to ride a bike in Kuwait. The road surfaces are terrible and if that wasn’t enough people have absolutely NO idea how to drive a car. Please excuse me but where is the surpise here? I get scared enough in my SUV. If you live in a place where people think fucking indicators (flashers) are an optional extra on a fucking car and run red lights, then still ride a bike and crash……i’ll just drive past and laugh..duh.

Hey Mark, I just checked on the accident, the guy who took the hit has broken his teeth and his wrist he is in the ICU as we speak I will keep updating his status. the other bikers sustained minor injuries.

Listen oiyouidiotyouboughtmeagirlsbike you seem like a dum ass to me, biking is a sport and with morons like you on blogs who needs assholes on the road.

Hope they get well. Harleys are cool and it would be a terrible shame that…I mean Salamaat.

Bikes are great, but they’re harder to spot than cars. Still want one, though.

Bikes and Harleys are a great break from the daily routine, as a rule of thumb, thursday and fridays evening stay away from the Gulfroad and Fahaheel motorway, too many idiots in SUV’s, specially these days people commuting heavily to the South. As a HOG member we make it a habit driving in groups and maintaining strict safety measures. However there are always risks associated with bikes and whats life without them. Peace

oiyouidiotyouboughtmeagirlsbike I just deleted your last comment and from now on you won;t be allowed to comment here. We don’t need people like you here.

Update no injuries sustained by the other two bikers, however the V-Rod rider is still in hospital and no news yet. I will post back in the morning.

oiyyouidiot is an iidiot…poor biker hope he gets better real soon. And she had the decency to stop, some good people in kuwait.

With all due respect, but most of the accidents I’ve witnessed, saw and heard of are caused by young drivers….. and women. I’m not making this up, it’s the truth.

Nael you are correct, I for one oppose that car and bike dealer are selling 250HP plus bikes and car for beginners who has gotten their license through Wasta. In the case of bikers they should start on small bikes and move to larger displacement engine within 5 years. An awarness campain should be launched by the bike dealers rather than looking short term for a couple of quick bucks, promoting safety and the image of bikers. As for women and the rest, banning mobiles while driving in specific the use SMS will minimise accidents by 40%.

Hellraiser were you with them or do you just know the guy.

I hope he is ok and he isn’t hurting. Hopefully no broken bones. The bikes can be fixed, and hamdilla the woman stopped and she was apologetic.

But man that is why i wear full face helmets, the helmet would have taken the hit. I just hope he isn’t in too much pain poor guy.

Latest Update on the condition of the kuwaiti biker, he is stable, suffered multiple fractures in his left arms, dislocated right arm, broken front teeth and scratches on the the face this was mainly due to the half helmet he was wearing. We all wish him a speedy recovery.

Hi Marzouq, no I was not driving with them, iat the time, as for his condition please check my previous entry, I did forget to mention that he broke his nose. He’s been moved to Al Razi Hospital.

Hellraiser; can you post what hospital and room it would be nice to send flowers or maybe just a printout of this entry…i really hope he gets well soon

I wish the biker a speedy recovery and wish there were more people who would stop their vehicle after a crash.
By the way a ‘full face’ lid would’ve saved his front teeth ( i know from experience 🙂 )

I don’t think I have ever seen a Harley rider with a full face helmet. The riders I have spoken to all say they don’t need the extra protection cuz they don’t speed.

In this situation the broken bones could not have been avoidable but the facial injuries all could have been just by using a full face helmet.

@ mark
yeah neither have I! (except during test rides by auto journalists)
and broken bones couldnt be avoided in any case

Zaydoon thats correct however these guys were heading home after yesterdays ride.

Mark the full face is a better options by all means, however remains the issue of style and Harley bikes, half helmets are way cooler both in looks and heat dissipation.

That is the whole point, looking cool should never be considered before safety.
My prayers for the biker in the accident.

I pray the biker recovers well soon.
I am ridding bikes for the last 30 years & never rode without a full face helmet, and rarely without full gear even when I rode a Harley.
The rule of thump is when you want to look cool with less protection then DO not ride fast on a main commercial street specially if your brakes are not ABS.Stasistically about 70% of car drivers envolved with in a bike accident claim they ” DID NOT SEE THE BIKE ” so it is the biker’s duty to make sure he is more visible and ride with caution. Also I know for sure most of the bikers in Kuwait did not learn how to ride and handel a bike with proper instructions.
If you want to enjoy ridding then protect yourself with the right gear. Like I always say you Do No go in the swimming pool with a suite even if you look smart in it.
Wish Ahmed reads about the concern we all have for him

Oh my goodness, what a tragedy, I got to learn about this entry from many people calling me and asking if I were on the scene with the people that had the accident, I don’t know what to say really, this is really tragic and horrifying indeed..

Hellraiser, Thanks for all the updates bro,

Zaydoun, Indeed, most Harley riders go out very early in the morning, like at 7:30 or 8:00 am to avoid the crazy mid night hawks that wake up around 2 pm on Thursday.. but sometimes like Hellraiser said, they would be out all day on an official ride and get stuck on riding home at night.. I one had many problems when I used to ride to south of Kuwait and had to ride back after sunset on the highways, for some reason, all of a sudden all cars think I want to race them and start doing strange maneuvers around me putting me and some other riders in a very awkward position..

My heart goes out to him, and to every responsible biker that always obey the law and put road safety first.. accidents happen, but it’s a pity when you know that it’s not someone that was breaking the law by speeding or pulling a freakin stunt on the road..

“oiyouidiotyouboughtmeagirlsbike” you seem like a really dumbass driver(seriously)heartless bi#*@…when you have your ass one day on a seat of a bike “not SUV” and feels how carefull and alert you should be all the time no mater where you ride in kuwait roads, earth or even the moon and relize how pianfull it could be if some jackass driver with SUV “most of the times” thinks that they own the road not considering that they are sharing it with all kind of vehicles not just SUV`s and causing accidents then I wana see you laughing..OK

and about the biker who had the accident we all hope that he would be recovered soon and go back to enjoy riding hes bike inshalla, 5a6ak elsow ma tshoof shar salamat..hellraiser thanx man keep up the good work.
last word:
SUV`s suCKs

Sadly Dissapointed from the story and the comments . look at the bright side all of you guys are still liveing in kuwait . otherwise if you are really dissapointed with the way things go around here , why dont you pack your bags and head back to lebanon tomorow morning so you dont miss the main event which will happen tomorow in sahat il shohada2. By then i bet you would have a story to write about and ESPECIALLY the way your “Darak” is gona oraganise things. Goodluck to you.
