I always knew hotel security was just a gimmick of a sort to let guests feel more secure but I didn’t think they sucked this much. The picture above is of a large container I had in my trunk last night when I drove through a hotel check point at a major hotel here in Kuwait. The hotel had the large metal door that comes out of the ground and security guards with the mirror on a pole checking underneath the car while another one checks the trunk. When I was asked to open my trunk I was like shit now they are going to tell me to remove the case from the back of my car to open it and I really wasn’t in the mood. Surprisingly even though they checked the trunk and saw the container they didn’t even ask me what was in it (it was camera equipment if you want to know). Me and my friend were dumbfounded! Why do they even bother to look in the trunk? How do they expect a bomb to look like, a few red dynamite sticks with a golden colored clock like in the cartoons?

At Heathrow my daughter ran through the X ray machine and the searcher nearly wet her knickers. She called her back and frisked her……6 years old…..however, they must have been scared of my 4 year old because even tho’ he ran through too, he wasn’t frisked. Maybe only girls wear (Prada) shoebombs?
Hotel security here in kuwait sucks. what would you expect from a rent a cop with no formal training whats so ever. Hell a terrorist determind and smart enough with the right education and training can easily walk into a 5 star hotel with a pack of C4 made to look like a pack play dough or anything and a mobile phone and blow the place up. No one would be the wiser. The minimum they require are chem wands and sniffer dogs so the can be sure that they aint allowing the bad guys in. Shit Mark’s trunk could have contained any thing, it was big enough 😉
Mark – they didn’t open your bag because they’re not REALLY meant to look in everyone’s luggage. Much like airport security, they use “profiling” to sort of second guess/predict who the terrorist is.
Profiling is pretty much why Arabs are up shit creek without a paddle anywhere they go. Here, they take profiling onto a whole different level.

Actually they use dynamite scanner(device looks like a radio), so they don’t have to open your black camera case (and a bomb don’t work without a dynamite xD easy right Mark ), and they don’t suck believe me Mark.
mike they oready got those long sticks that they but underneath the car if there is a boom they well make that peep peep sound lool unless they didn’t but battery in those sticks lol that’s another problem. and common who is gonna boomb in kuwait the last ppl who tried to do that they got killed by the police in there houses.

I had a swiss knife for 2 months in my travel bag and passed 4 airports per week, and it was never detected.

I lived in the Palms a couple of years ago, for 6 months and the “guards” has a piece of brass with an antenna on it and would walk around your car pointing it at the tires… After a few weeks I finally asked what the hell it was and the guard told me “nothing, it’s psychological”… And who has not departed from the super secure Kuwait International Airport! You can bring almost anything in or out… Unless it is booze or vibrators!
Your facial expressions are of more importance to them than the contents of your trunk. If you were carrying a bomb in that, your face would go red, blue then green as soon as they ask you to open the trunk!

that box in ur trunk is called a pelican case. its used by all sort of people from engineers, to contractors, to just about anyone who has sensitive equipments and have to go to the field. It may be big even for u to carry this kind of ‘bag’, but people carry them on daily bases, and hotels in kuwait should be too familiar.
Not only hotels… even the airport is a sham… their security sucks big time! If only the cops there concentrate more on their jobs than on smoking and drinking cups of arabica!
nyx, i hear you. they’re the most unprofessional (and perverted) airport staff i have ever seen in my life, and trust me, i’ve been around the block! their minds are unable to process anything other than cigarettes, cups of arabica, and of course, starring at women like horny convicts.

LOL I suddenly recall how a man took LIVE PIGEONS stuck to his thighs in a flight from Dubai to Melbourne last week. It was in the papers and even had a picture. He was caught at Melbourne so you can imagine the ‘security’ at the Dubai Airport…
More than that, I couldn’t stop wondering how someone had pigeons nibbling at his inner thighs on a long haul flight.

the mirror is a xray sensor and can be seen what in the car that is not suppose to be in there he probaly thought that was your suitcase with a model of an ak47 with armour pirecing bullets

From what I’ve seen, they must get most of their training from cartoons…
their main concern is if anyone is sneaking people into their gyms! That’s why they look under the car in case they find someone who’s not a member.

Forget the hotels, things are often missed even on the bases. Spot checks/tests are frequently conducted of the vehicle checkers and every once in a while, planted items get through.
As the security officer at a 5-star hotel in Kuwait told me this week, they don’t worry as much about security these days (which is why they are moving the drive-up ramp closer to the hotel windows/lobby). Isn’t it when you least expect it that something happens?

Where did you get this rumor from? What bases ????
well, what you said it makes sense from a part , however let me describe it for you , there are small instruments which you might not see with an antenna at the top, security man might pass it parallel to your car if the antenna deviated towards you , i believe at that time he might ask you to open the trunk.
