I just saw an Electrozan ad in the paper for an “officially unlocked” iPhone 3G 16GB for only KD239. Thats pretty cheap if it is in fact officially unlocked.
Update: It seems Electrozan lied in their advertising. According to a reader who passed by Electrozan the phones are NOT officially unlocked.
Update2: OK, now someone is saying the iPhones at Electrozan ARE officially unlocked. I guess the best way is to go there and find out yourself.

Guys, Don’t get carried away with electrozan’s BS. It’s not officially unlocked; instead they use turbosim to “officially” unlock it their way. If you go there tell them to update/restore your iphone there in-store and you’ll see them mumble and BS. They offer their own warranty not Apple’s. Good luck

i heard that some shops are getting “unlocked” iphones from dubai.
They are not officially unlocked, they have a turbosim chip that was wielded into the inside of the phone.
i heard and i am not sure, that if you get the actual iphone from italy, it has tim’s logo (the carrier in italy) on the backside of the box, thats how you’d know its officially unlocked. can someone please confirm this?

aren’t all iphones in italy officially unlocked? If so you can just recognize one by looking at the back of the box which would be printed in italian.
Eureka is not selling iphone with turbo sim. They are selling officially unlocked phones from italy and new zealand. I asked the sales guy across the counter.

I just passed by Al-Ghanim and they are selling it officially unlocked 16gb for 255kd. Imported from Italy.
My wife got me it for 239 KD officially unlocked from eureka.. already updated to 2.2 with no problems.. i think it is a great deal..
Does anyone know if the one from Al-Ghanim, Eurika read’s / write Arabic? (for messages, contacts, etc…)

UMMMM, no they don’t. They Sell Italian IPhones, The part number is MB496T, Google it. Its officially unlocked. Go down to Electrozan and check all the phones yourself. They all have the same Part number. they are not “unlocked officially with turbosim”
These comments are confusing. I went to Electrozan and got the iphone. The whole packaging is in Italian, I got on Itunes and updated the software to version 2.2 and everything is still working. Isn’t that NOT supposed to happen if it was unlocked by Turbosim?

Vodafone New Zealand also sells OFFICIALLY unlocked iphones (https://www.vodafone.co.nz/iphone/) – only catch you need to get it from there – but i believe k.thekuwaiti has put up in his blog (https://k.thekuwaiti.com/) how to get one from there some time ago – don’t if its still valid though.
Guys, Electrozan IPHONE are officially unlocked, i just bough it from there for KD.239 and it is100% unlocked with their warranty and the Kuwaiti guy over there is well aware about all Pocket PC and their stores and updation has arabized it for me even for KD.10 ONLY, it is now very very nice, and arabized.
