Kuwait Airways Sucks?

Ok I was just are two flights to Lebanon today, one at 12PM and the other at 3. I decided to go with the 3PM one since its 9AM now and I haven’t packed or anything yet. The problem is the 3PM flight is with Kuwait Airways. I used to prefer Kuwait Airways over Middle East Airlines but recently everyone has been complaining about the terrible Kuwait Airways delays and service and now I am just worried I am going to have the crappiest flying experience ever.. and I hate flying! Hopefully things won’t be as bad as I am guessing it will be. I will post a Kuwait Airways review when I come back or something.

I worked as acabin Attendant in kuwait airways 84-90 ,,kuwait Airways was the best airline in gulf area that time ,,,delays in timing of take off and landing have many reason not the flight its self but the airports crowded flying schdules ,,,
during those years recieved 4 outstanding rewards for best services during flights specaily long flight s,,,,very nice comments frm passengers,,,i mean u can fill any comments or suggetions about the flight and send it the main office wil deal with it

U worked in as a cabin attendant more than 20 years ago. Kuwait Airways NOW is a MESS. Everytime we have a bad experience on that terrible airlines we say maybe its just luck, its NOT. Its bad because it is bad. We payed 500 kd for two tickets to travel to Lebanon & had to cancel because THE KUWAITI GOVERNMENT ordered its citizens not to fly to beirut and what did we get ? A KA AGENT SCREAMING at us telling us we are not able to cancel even tho we are in business class. Turns out WE CAN but we have to pay a 20 kd fee. What kind of company would let its staff be so disrespectful. Moreover, after we did cancel and book ANOTHER ticket for another time we had a call AFTER we printed our tickets and CONFIRMED it, and the agent was “warning” us that our tickets will be canceled if we don’t go and confirm. Rewards for Kuwait Airways ? Really ? Put them in ur pocket Kuwait Airways Golden Ages is now beneath a pile of fertilizer.

Kuwait Airways isn’t THAT bad. It’s just the space for your legs might be a problem. I dont mind the flight, i just listen to the iPod and play Quake 3 on my Powerbook and it’s fine =)

I just flew with them last night and it was alright. Luckily the plane was empty so i changed my seat to a better one. I just spent my time playing GTA on my PSP.

Kuwait Airways sucks

The epitome of a state run organisation that has a payroll larger than the soviet army during the cold war, yet operational efficiency resembling that of a blind man set with the task of sewing buttons onto lab coats.

yeah… KA sucks!

I first flew on KAC when their fleet was composed of Comets, then the 707’s and later their 747 fleet. I last flew with them in l982 and in all those years and on countless flights, I never had reason to complain (even after they ceased to serve alcohol 🙂 :). The seating was comfortable, the food excellent and the cabin crew courteous.
The Managing Director at that time was Jassim Al-Marzouq, The Chief Pilot Bassim Shuhiba and the Chief Training Captain, Anthony Hebborn.
I am astonished by the negative comments. This is not the airline I knew and liked so much.

So true,I was a cabin crew briefing officer at the time and mr marzook was a hands on micro manager who made sure there was accountability by all staff.i am surprised that we have so much negative feed back and hope management will pay heed and take the necessary measures.

Oh my god, I’ve just bought a ticket from London to Bangkok and since I’ve been reading these websites, it seems as though it could be the worst four hundred quid I’ve ever spent! I’ll let you know how I get on.

Kuwait Airways, hmmnn…haven’t flown with them yet but reckon they are the most low profile of Gulf carriers today.
My weekend f***buddies tell me their inflight crew can be exceptionally rude to the point of making even US cabin crews seem polite and that in itself, says quite a bit actually.
From what I have seen of the KU crew at the airport in Kuwait there doesn’t appear to be that much of a heterogeneity in the composition of the crew in that there is no international or a cosmopolitian feel, if you will to the crew make-up.
This can be a big downer in today’s age of “globalisation” and “the world is my village”. Is it also true that Kuwait Airways cabin crew is notoriously garrulous and like chatting with each other to the nineties ensuring that all passengers get as little sleep as possible and arrive at their destination as sleepy bags.

I flew to Paris on Kuwait Airways, It was a very pleasant and an enjoyable flight though the flight was via rome, the crew was exceptionally friendly and polite. The food was delicious, Maybe the flight you took was a bad one, all humans are not the same i guess. Anyways try a few more flights and you will agree with me. It all depends on the crew who serves you. The crew who worked on my flight were great. I would definitely fly Kuwait Airways again..

kuwait airways is a fine company,,, and it has been affected by diffrent things it has been ceased its asset from kuwait government , and the member of parlemant intruduce a mass recrutment and casued and over recrutment emagin it was 6500 staff for just 16 airplans waaaw ,,and the type of staff are sucks some are not well manared,, (beduin) straight from district 10 to airport , counter peopele are bad too always jell on hair and playing with seats and reservation,,,, you can easly get denide boarding waaaw it is there favourite,,,,,apart from that,, after landing peopel stand up staright while aircraft is taxing… also some cabin crew and bitches ,,, they have backboan i mean verry big shot boyfriend and they dont fear any punishment when badly treating a passenger,,, i cant continue i feel that i will though yuckkkkkk

i have been flying Kuwait Airways for years and have had the chance to see how much they spen on their maintenance and training.
from expereince, i will avoide flying any other airline as they are too commercially driven.
kuwait airways spends most of its revinue to ensure safety.
think about it, if you have to split your proffits, you will need to pay for maintenance, for training of all staff and for the cabin. i personally would appreciate the important stuff first and the decrotive staff last.

im fly with kac for long time ,and someone told me that they have only 16 aircrafts so far
and these delay we get is for ”our safety ”
i understand that when a flight would be delayed
they will take their sweet time in fixing the plane for any technical issues ,which means
i rather wait couple of hours shopping/reading books at the airport than flying and crashing in to the ocean, and by the way most of my flights
i payed for were smooth and crew were OK with me
sure some of them might be newly employed or rude
as KA haters put it that way but its not the case with me at all , i got a nice treatment lately during 7 hours bangkok flight when my TV wasnt working and they know that some TVs are not working aswell ,so that doesnt mean i cant use games and laptop during flights ,even one crew brought me a DVD from the first class and couple of flicks, one of the crew explained that their aircraft are little old and the entertainment system equipment are little outdated ,and in the same time ,they dont have the time to fix few monitors otherwise they would have a delay ,
but thats not big problem if you have a laptop
or DVD player ,and also i got the same treatment on the way back ,with totally diffrent crew
i wrote a written compliment letter for them at the end to their managment and i really thanked
them for keeping me happy
what im saying is :KAC are good company but lacks good managment in the entertainment department
and as mr bailer replied above ”humansare not the same, and i will add here ,also the crew of each flight ,one advice here : if you wanna complain ,dont shout ,they will help ,you shout
you are rude and crude, maybe some hotheaded PPL needs to think twice before they trash the crew/company ,its funny to believe that some passengers wants to go ”ROYAL” on board
thinks they can get massage ,well i guess
thats ”ego ” problem not KA ,that all i can say

so do i have to tell people that KA sucks ?
the answer is NO ,flight companies are now in
”competition” mode ,so why they would lose
passengers over person behaviour ,right ? ..

unless…. its ” personal ” ,
and thats explains KA haters here

To all above notes !! I have a reply that Kuwait Airways today is best known for its safety. The amount of time it takes to train its staff for safety and with the toughest of the examination they conduct to ensure that all its trainees are upto the mark for safety handlings…. please remember service to some extent is important but what counts more is the safety. If you are not safe but have a good service then I am sure you get a good service when you crash as well like you are served well with your dead bodies!!! but being safe is like keeping your self alive even if you had experienced a bad service. But I dnt think service is that bad as of KUWAIT AIRWAYS. You cannot clap with one hand , there are certainly reasons some time that makes the crew annoyed. The crew are their to take care of your life while you are flying in case of emergency and I think Kuwait Airways has the best tarined crew.

heck i aint flying Kuwait airways again. I flew Business Class and the crew didn’t respond to my drinking request very quickly. Overall, I would rate Kuwait Airways 2/5. Why? because if you fly Lufthansa from Kuwait – Frankfurt, it would cost less than flying with Kuwait Airways….

kuwait airways is big time suck…i will not flying kuwait airway in my life…that’s how much i hate kuwait airways.. i booked the ticket 3mons ahead my journey (NY TO INDIA). i have a connection flight but somehow my flight were a little late.kuwait airways manager or whoever it is was threating to my family who was traveling from ny to india that he will cancel my ticket if they don’t show up in 2minutes..what we can do. can he understand the situation, yes ofcourse he knew the situation but he just ignoring. not only that there is other people standing there want to buy the ticket for double amount that i paid…that is ridiculous…they should not do that. plus i’m traveling with my 3 little kids…that traveling was a nightmare for my kids. that’s how much we suffered…and also the ticketing people..they have no manners at all….WILL NOT TRAVEL WITH KUWAIT AIRWAYS ANY MORE…IN MY LIFEEEE…….

Talk about incompetence! Some of you who commend the airline for it’s dedication to safety should get your facts straight. Firstly…delays in this industry are what most travellers dread. You book your flight to leave at 08:30 so you expect it to leave at that time. Making excuses that they are ensuring everything is good might be a good thing but that is a legal requirement not something the airline does as an added bonus! So they need to get rid of all their old shitty planes and get some new modern aircraft. Secondly, I worked for the airline and their safety training is terrible. They don’t teach very much and when you go for the exams the teacher walks around giving everyone who’s having problems the answers so whats the purpose of having a safety department. My present airline is 100% more professional and we really do have to know our stuff. Kuwait Airways staff just want to impress people but they just look stupid. Look at half the pilots. Most of the overweight Kuwait co-pilots wear their trousers so short you can see their socks and almost their knees. How unprofessional is that. It used to make me feel scared when I saw a pilot dressed so stupid and he’s in charge of my life. Now i don’t have to worry anymore.Kuwait Airways…….you really do suck. You need to move with the times you are lost and left behind the world. I am glad I left.

Your post confuses “safety training”, by which one can only assume you mean rote learning the laminated ‘What to do in an emergency’-type card so you can mime the actions out prior to each flight, with aeronautical/mechanical safety. An aircraft’s airworthiness is maintained by qualified engineers who undergo regular re-certifications on all the aircraft on which they are licensed to work. KAC’s ground crew are UK trained and the airline undergoes a yearly inspection and audit (IOSA) by an international, six man team. The results can be checked at https://www.iata.org/workgroups/Pages/aircraft.aspx

In 1988 there were two fatalities when a couple of Kuwaiti men tried to overpower a group of hijackers. Otherwise, KAC has an exemplary safety record. Whether pilots wear Armani or Tesco’s Best is somewhat irrelevant. There do seem to be some problems with in-flight service, something which seems to have been one of your responsibilities. Personally, I’d rather live through a mediocre meal than die in gastronomic bliss.

Hi, I’m sorry for that news above about kuwait airways. I’m a flight attendant there. I hope that you won’t get dissapointed again next time. We will do our best service for the passengers in the sky. tq.

I’m a Kuwaiti teenager (18 years of age), I have lived in Kuwait all my life and I can’t even begin to describe my hate for this place.

We have no culture, no freedom, no nature, no nothing! It’s all big fancy cars and malls – the people here are THE worst people ever! All they care about is money and their stupid hair looks, plus the way they treat non-Kuwaiti people like they are subhumans.

Can you believe that I was prosecuted just because I listen to Extreme Metal? They thought I worship the devil and I got into trouble with the local authorities for preforming “satanic rituals” (like playing it loud in the car). Yeah…

I’m planning to get out of this prison, go live somewhere nice in Scandinavia, preferably Norway or Finland.

Once again, I detest this place. If you feel the same way please contact me on MSN, maybe we can be friends:

I have flown Kuwait Airways around 15 times in the past six years. It has not been exactly a pleasant flight. Food is terrible. In-house entertainment system is poor. The flight attendants and service counter are very rude, passengers are taken for granted. The staff is lacking any level of customer service, the plane feels like it is falling apart, and they are habitually late. Not to mention offices oversees and their strange policies – have to attend at the counter 3 hours before the flight, otherwise my trip gets cancelled; this cancelled trip is not refundable. I was surprisingly informed by one of KA customer service representatives that they take only the first 110 passengers arriving at the counter and immediately close the counter, whether those passengers arrive all within 10 minutes or 3 hours, confirmed their booking or on waiting list. All representatives refused telling me what time counter closes. It is a big joke. Yes I am not happy traveling with KA, but unfortunately very limited choices are out there from Kuwait to my country. Hope it gets privatized soon or new competent market players get in.

ok everyone!!!ya kuwait airways sucks…ok!!as an ex-employee let me give u both sides of the story.ok..now ya planes r old, bad.food very bad.staff…OMG…worse ever.i agree.wanna know why????coz of poor management, misusing of money, low…VERY LOW SALARIES..BUT ONLY FOR NON-KUWAITI(and most staff is non-kuwait).crew r treated as criminals.no promotions for 20 yrs,no pay increase,no good flights if u dont have WASTA(connections).crew r left to deal with the pax complaints about the old planes, not working ET sys, wrong seats ,and etc.and if they cant provide adequate answer as to why KAC doesnt improve they get punished by the same management who doesnt do anything.
ok now…second…pax111ok ppl …seriously….raelly do u want to reach from pointA to point B…or u go on=board to evaluate the crew and ask 4 things which u can see r not available or cant be fixed.i would have done anything to help all of the pax but its impossible ..trust me..with all my respect…one advice…dont be nasty to them(crew)..they have ways to get back at u…be realistic ppl…and dont get on KAC

yeah KAC is suck in fact!
been working in Jakarta for almost 5 years and the treatment for country manager is totally suck!
you can imagine how the management treat local people here!
i am kuwaiti but still got suck treatment!

shame on you KAC management!

“…dont be nasty to them(crew)..they have ways to get back at u…be realistic ppl…”

Is that a threat? It’s that mentality that keeps passengers away from kuwait airways. It is amazing how those old planes are still being maintained. It seems as if Kuwait Airways has so many problems from the top all the way down. Todays Arab Times has an article on how 7 KAC employees embezzled 882,000kd from KAC. It’s a shame but I think so much more money has been unaccounted for then just the few stories you read about KAC in the papers.

Kuwait Airways is the best and safety is their TOP PRIORITY Weehoo, way to go Kuwait Airways, we love you and we will always trust your judgements and fly high with you 🙂

Beeing in KAC for 25 years I just want to say you are all right.
Every one from his own experience can be angry or happy about our services. Because it always go back to services.
It is right to say that that and that does not work. But again what to say about a Public Airlines who is overstaff., aging planes, and politics interfering in all aspect of the Airlines.
Just wish that our rulers and governement realise the importance of a Nice Modern Airlines to be proud about.

But is it safe? I’m flying London – JFK on a 777. Those planes are not very old… I’m not a good flier anyway so I’d like an honest opinion from someone who knows the technical side of these things. I don’t care what the cabin is like, is the bloody thing going to fall out of the sky??

Rest assured that is it (until today) safe to fly with Kuwait Airways, as they have been flying to non-stop from Kuwait – New York via the Boeing 777 since 2001 or something. Until now, we never heard of a critical situation facing Kuwait Airways from flights between Kuwait and New York so what makes you think that the flight will be unsafe because you decided to board or fly it? Be releastic dude and take it easy, and you’ll be on the ground long before you know it (that’s of course only if cabin is not important to you, lols)

Well guys everybody is talking about Kuwait Airways from his point of View honestly i come from a family that we have pilots on Kuwait Airways .. they have the best pilots i the world and Kuwait Airways is the first company to present (co-flying A320 and A340) aircraft that means a single pilot can fly both types. that will add a big plus for Kuwait Airways pilots .. and i assure they have the best pilots .. and for saftey record thank god Kuwait Airways has a clean record compared to other airlines. the only problem is to get rid of politics.

Safety record? u mean lucky record…Yes they are extremely lucky that theres no mechanical failures (major) in the aircraft despite of malpractices. Yes, pilots are the best.. assuming but majority of safety depends on the mechanical aspects (maintenance)..You can teach a monkey how to fly a plane but u cant teach it how to fix the plane.

Im employed there..a mechanic. Ive been working in different countries/companies but this KAC is unique. Most of their mechanics just learned from experience (ignorant and arrogant of proper maintenance procedures). Most of them are not really trained. Just some porters who got absorbed by companies bcoz most of their mechs went to other company.

Despite of these..there are still some few good men/women who struggles to keep other’s footsteps straight. Good mechs who corrects others mistakes but not recognized not even got promoted. Few people working long hours just to make sure others wont mess with the aircraft. That is why KAC is stil safe to fly. and has a huge potential to be great (KAC is government owned…Kuwait is very very rich country).I think they can be the best in just couple of years provided that the management’s morale will be high.

Well my opinion might be just different from all of you who criticize Kuwait Airways. Regardless to all the other complains anyone has for flight delay or service, have you guys ever noticed it has been flying from decades now and had never had a fatal accident till now (Touch wood) unlike all the other major and well known airlines so far.

I think it is the worlds safest Airlines to fly with so far and may I ask the criticizers one question? What is more important? Safety or other minor problems? (Which all Airlines have also) Think about it every body.

Go and check the safety record of this Air lines comparing to others. Besides this, all airlines have delay problems so Kuwait Airways must not be criticized alone. They are trying there best to keep them selves on time.

Remember if a delay happens then either it is the fault of a passenger delay or they are making sure that there is no problem with the plane for your own safety. I think people must appreciate there good maintenance habit which is for the safety of people like all of us.

As Im one of kuwait airways as crew member for long time almost 10 years kuwait airways rlines in the persian gulf offer the best service ,safety and care to all paxs and the crew were well trained most of lebanese ppl. travel from kwi to bey free their boss in kuwait pay their tickets,I see always our paxs like our service and meals specially indian-americans came from the states to visit their original home twon in india they loves our veg. meals they clean the trays nothing left in the tray then the say oh food is so bad,any way any airlines in the world has weak points and possitive ones. in kuwait airways the only problem is cuz our planes old and this due to make the company private soon.

i think that there is no airline in the world that do service as much as the kuwait airways crew they are supper cabin crew but the problem is the pax that fly with them is a very cheap people who will preffer to pay less and have more free food and drinks are u guys going up there to eat …. sucks

Kuwait air offers cheap airfare, apart from that, everything about this airline is poor service. Their attendants show preferential treatments to arabs. Some people are talking about their safety record. Well my seat was broken, when I complained, their attitude was like – deal with it! God knows how bad other maintenance is.

I hope enough people can voice their complaints, so that Kuwait air learns something about customer service.

This will be the first time we will take KA, i have already booked myself and my 3 year old son Manila-London-Manila before i have read your comments.

Please give me tips and advices on how we can travel smoothly. Which seats should I take (Economy) and which seats to avoid? I need to have the TV working as my son might get bored and become cranky on-board.

On board, are the crews child-friendly? Please send me more information, as I already fear flying KA, esp with a toddler. I will appreaciate it very much. [email protected]

@ jack … well i dont know whether you were in kuwait airways or not but let me tell the reality to the people … i know people like you likes to add some spices where ever needed .
YOU SAID :” I worked for the airline and their safety training is terrible ” . so i dont believe you that you worked here because if you did so you would be knowing that KAC safety and service training is so accurate and upto the standards that other airline instructors came here for training .
*secondly you said :”They don’t teach very much and when you go for the exams the teacher walks around giving everyone who’s having problems the answers.” haha what a joke,it clearly shows you never been in thier examination room .. and it dosnt happen either .. they are very strict with thier safety procedures.
*Thirdly .. yes some pilots are over weight but havin thier pants so high that thier socks are visible .. next timw when you see such a pilot .. such change the channel cz may be you are looking at cartoons in TV .dont jz talk non-sense here
i know KAC has some draw backs but that dosnt mean you say what ever comes into
ur mind.

@ ghost face … “…dont be nasty to them(crew)..they have ways to get back at u…be realistic ppl…”
he was telling the general nature or behaviour of cabin crew not specially KAC why do all the passenger become so ROYAL only when travelling with KAC ??then you complain crew is not nice HUH !!

@ mech … safety recored mean safety recored … by sayin LUCKY RECORD you are makin fun of yourself.luck is not 55 years of flying .. luck can b some flitesbut not all flites. you are simply a KAC hater and the stories you are telling about mechanics and stuff … no one is bothered to listen to them .. the only thing passenger need is safety and whoch they are getting better than da ones havin
A380.

@destiny … enjoy ur flite with KAC .. i assure you . i am very big fan of KACa nd all these ppl talkin here .. trust me many of them are just sharing others experience .. they never been on KAC by themselves and after tha flight do write your comments here .. and hopefully it will be good report :).

I flew in October to JFK USA and had a really good trip, food was excellent and cabin crew were very considerate. Return trip only took 6 hrs due to fierce tailwind. No Complaints and recommend.

Thanks

The worst airline ever…My family and I check-in 1 hour before the check-in closes and we we’re advised that the plane was FULL…wtf and there about 15 passengers queing on our back?…that means they keep on accepting booking/passengers without counting the capacity of their plane…their insane…we were asked if we can travel the following day but we refused as we got a connecting flight from our destination,we were transfer to another airline after 2 hours of waiting from their counter. So we arrived to our destination..yes,safely…but when it’s time to go back to London, another problem arise again during check-in time…we were not on their list…which means that their London base did not coordinate that we managed to travel to our destination…what a poor management…so they managed to sort it out after 3-4 hours of waiting…
Another horrendous experience but this time it’s from a friend, he won a Kuwait Airways return ticket from London to New York but it’s simply a BOGUS PROMOTION from this airline because they asked him to pay tax and admin charge which is the same full payment of a regular passenger will going to pay when he checked to a travel agency.

Kuwait Airways the worst airline in the planet…when giving promotion like free return ticket to new york..they say you only pay the administration charge but it’s the same payment a non-winning passenger is paying, so what the use of being a winner?…I realized that it’s just a bogus promotion. They even overbooked their airline so they cannot accomodate other passenger and they have no coordination…that will be my last trip to this f…airline.

I was flying from London Heathrow to Manila with stops in BKK and Kuwait. No TV on anyone’s screens in the whole plane. I should have waited for the connection in Kuwait for 3 hours which turned out to be more than 8. No-body informed any of us at all until we asked for ourselves and nothing on the screens at the airport. We were taken to a hotel on the airport site (I think) and dumped there until after midnight bufore recieving last night’s cast-off meal from whoever had been in the hotel before. I was offered a room but had to share it with some distressed filipino guy who refused point blank to share. We were eventually woken up with five minutes to spare before the bus returned to the airport. I didn’t sleep anyway so not too bothered about that bit.

Returning was not much better All planes were late. Re-fuelling took 3 hours at BKK. Hostesses treated us all like real cattle. The seats are made for children and not full-sized, the TV screens still didn’t work. No alcohol at all, suitcase broken although not sure where this happened.

You have to laugh.

Having read all the above comments I’m a bit worried. My mum and daughter are travelling to JFK from LHR. Can someone just clarify if its true that Kuwait Airways overbook their flights?? Safety isn’t really a worry because they have a good record. However, is there a chance they may not board if they are not one of the “first” passengers to check in?? I travelled with them myself on the same journey in the late 90’s and there was a four hour delay on the return trip, apart from this everything else was fine. Ok so it’s not BA or Virgin but we can’t afford their air fares. Any replies would be very much appreciated.

Just dont be late at the check-in, Kuwait are not alone on overbooking. I flew with them twice 09/10 and if ticket price is good, I will again. Crew were pleasant, food was acceptable and no worse than others. I was delayed for 50 mins at the gate for secondary security search in Jan 10. However we arrived JFK on time. Video back screens did not work but not a problem as main centre screen. Interior of plane a little tired but as you state a good safety record. When arrive JFK take the airtrain to Jamacia station then Long Island rail direct to NY Penn station. Enjoy

Having flown extensively since the age of 4, I have come to have a very distilled wisdom with ‘practical’ expectations regarding airline service. For example, cleanliness, in-flight food, entertainment etc. are all relative and while most airlines try their best with the budget they operate on, there are always likely to be some flaws that fail to get a perfect rating. So in the big scheme of things, these ‘flaws’ are forgivable as long as the overall flight is decent (my expectations are pretty low anyway).

However, one fundamental right we passengers expect is to be treated as simple human beings with respect from the staff. KUWAIT AIRWAYS FAILS IN THIS REGARD 100%. DO NOT FLY THIS AIRLINE AT ANY COST. Especially if you have a 5 month old baby with feeding disorder and if you are dark skinned and do not look caucasian or Arab and look more like an immigrant labourer.

We had gone through a lot of advanced booking and talking to Kuwait airways agents on ground and on phone 4 months ahead of time to guarantee us a bassinet seat for our Kuwait- NYC flight (KU116) on the 23rd of June 2010. We were guaranteed that and provided side by side seats for me and my wife so that we could take care of our baby constantly as his feeding disorder erupts without notice. It was important for both of us to be together for that reason.

As we boarded our seats, in comes another Kuwaiti couple with a baby, who could only speak Arabic, with a stroller (which you are supposed to surrender at gate). A small altercation broke out with the in-flight staff as it seemed the guy hadn’t requested for a bassinet seat ahead of time and expected us to give up our seats. So the ‘big guy’ from Kuwait airways was called in (apparently from the grounds staff with executive powers exceeding that of the pilot). After some talk in Arabic, I was asked to give up my seat to let the Arab guy’s hijab-clad wife sit with her baby next to my wife’s seat. We wanted to ask that the little boy seating next to my wife (there were 3 seats in a row) to be reseated so that both of us couples could get what we needed. On the contrary, we were actually ordered. No use of ‘excuse me’, ‘please’ and no explanation of the situation (surely we would have helped any couple as we understand the difficult nature of travel with a baby). At the apparent rudeness, when we protested saying it wasn’t ‘fair’, the big guy erupted in a fit of anger and told us ‘not fair? you want to see fair? then please step out of the aircraft right now, I am getting you two out of the aircraft’. As he kept insisting that we leave the aircraft because we apparently were rude to the big guy, the entire flight crew stayed quiet as did the passengers without any effort to mediate the situation. It was one humiliating scene lacking in any civility (you would imagine that the decades of petrodollars would have taught them manners).

We would have walked out of the plane and spoken to pilot on our way out had it not been for our 5 month baby who would be facing an uncertain future in the not-so-hospitable Kuwait airport. So after doing some damage control, I relented (still without being given any explanation as to why our confirmed seating had to be rearranged and with no use of ‘sorry’, ‘excuse the inconvenience’, ‘please try to understand’ and ‘thank you’).

Long story short – as a mark of protest, I asked my wife to to sit next to me in a regular seat without a bassinet seat and we ‘graciously’ let the Arab husband (whose hijab clad wife needed the bassinet seat) sit next to her wife. It was important for us to give the Kuwiati guy a ‘teaching moment’ although it probably didn’t work as we didn’t get a thank you for that. For the rest of the entire 13 hours, we refused absolutely any service from KUWAIT AIRWAYS for being humiliated and treated to such sub-human standards. We refused all meals and publicly declared to the staff that we wouldn’t be taking any service from them. Our passenger next to us, was naturally very concerned and he was kindly checking up on us. It was hard, but when it comes to issues of principles and morals, it’s not that hard to go without food for half a day (nothing compared to Mandelian or Gandhian standards).

To all this reading this- if you want to be treated as a simple human being with the respect and civility any human being deserves, then KUWAIT AIRWAYS IS NOT THE AIRLINES FOR YOU. For that big guy, if he’s reading this, I know his face and his designation very well and I want him to know that this is only the beginning. By God, if I see him in person outside Kuwait, I will bring him hell until he learns to apologize for his behaviour. We are taking up the matter with the Kuwait Ministry of Tourism and there will be a relentless barrage of blogging and media writing to bring this issue out. Ordinary passengers must know the truth about KUWAIT AIRWAYS hospitality and KUWAITI hospitality in general.

I HATE KUWAIT AIRWAYS BIG TIME. Believe it or not there was a big fight between passengers and duty officers(Can u imagine). Inspite of over booked flight and cancellation of KA tickets the staffs are hetting on our nerves to surprise us more for the long waiting hrs already spent. there was some harsh talks and physical arguments. I saw indians recording the whole show on their mob-cams to take the issue up.. FINAL verdict KAC SUCKSSSSSSSSS BIG TIME….

when I flight with KA at monday, I took pict one of the crew. When he know it, he permission to borrow my cellphone and delete it. Is it prohibition to take the pict of crew air ways????

I am astonished by the negativity of the comments about KAC. My experience – and I flew regularly on that airline between l969 and l979 – was always most pleasant. I would also like to point out that KAC has one of the highest safety records IN THE WORLD.
I strongly suspect that the authors of the negative comments are the type of passengers who are demanding and spoilt.
NB. I am not and never have been an employee of KAC.

I have had very bad experiance on Kuwait airline. Entertainment system did not work and they were out of food. I ask for help did not get it. I called the customer service they did not help. DO NOT FLY ON THIS AIRLINE> You will regreat everybit of it.

Well you know kuwait airlines arnt bad not at all in fact in my point of view its just like any plane and there seats are comfortable and there crew were very kind and happy and NOT RUDE and id love to fly again and its safe aswell and dont just think about the plane just think that you land there safe and people who say that there late whith your orders well god said to be PATIENT so be patient andim very very shocked with all thease negative coments and once again KAC are very safe airlines so just sit and watch or litsen to your ipod and youll land ps. There food is verrrry delicious and not bad at all :)))

kuwait airways sucks. the engines are old but the food is OK, the service is good also. BUT the best airlines i have ever travelled on is the emirates airline and singaphore airline. kuwait airlines need to fix this problem because they need kuwaiti citizens have proud of what their country own.

I traveled from JFK-KWI-COK during April 2011.Here is what I observed
The flight was old
Seats were not reclining
Leg room was less
Entertainment system was broken

But the food was good and the staff was very nice and polite.

Kuwait airport was very sub standard.Boarding area was crowded with staff even smoking in boarding area.If there is a choice I would recommend to avoid Kuwait Airlines. The only advantage with Kuwait Airlines was that the tickets were cheap.I have traveled with Etihad,Emirates etc and Emirates is the best.

KUWAIT AIRWAYS is the worst carrier in GCC by miles.
The working hours of their bombay baggage handling is 2am to 7am.
Couldn’t get more convenient.

it is the most unsafe airline now, i am sorry to people who fly on this airlines.. the royal monarchy who control everything in kuwait dont care about this airlines and even kuwaity nationals scared to fly this

This is the worst airlines now in the world… i am scared the people who fly on this. the royal family who controlling everything in kuwait dont care about anything they only take the profit. I spoke the people in kuwait and they said its a rude country who controlled by un educated , stubborn, uncultured leadership.

Last month it happened to me. I travelled from JFK to MAA using Kuwait Airlines. Had a 7 hours stoppage at Kuwait. I left my laptop in my checkin baggage. I received both my baggages safely. After reaching home, I found that my laptop was missing. When I came back to the Airport, they said we cant claim anything after leaving the Airport. So if your are using Kuwait Airlines, be sure to check your baggage before leaving the Airport.

I flew from Jakarta, Indonesia to JFK (NY). Kuwait was never on time. My way to JFK was delayed 3 hours in Jakarta, and the way back to Jakarta was delayed 2 hours (but ended up delaying for 3 hours again). Entertainment was very poor, like 4 channels and I couldn’t pause, repeat or forward. the movie was already in the middle so, either I watched it or I didn’t t watch it at all. I had to ask for a blanket (they didn’t just give it to passengers). I had to ask for earphones. Mostly the non vegetarian food were finished (so although I’m not a vegetarian, I had no choice to get MEAT for my meal). Planes were old. I couldn’t charge my phone or any other devices (I could do it with etihad/qatar and emirates). They didn’t give toiletries like socks, eye shadded, ear plugs or toothbrush (again I got them from etihad/qatar and emirates). They didn’t maintain the cleanliness for toilets too. So after flying for hours, I found toilets became so gross and disgusting. The worst part, I lost one of my bags in jakarta. I complained, the staff was so rude. After 24 hours, I called the staff again, The staff said “kuwait never received my bag, so maybe my bag would be still in JFK” (WTF?) . Until now (After 2 days), I still havent gotten any information regarding my bag. I don’t know where my bag is and when will I get my bag. Funnily, the lost and found staff in Jakarta’s airport only works twice a week when they have schedule. Except that day, no one can service me!!! I’m still hoping I can get my bag soonn. So, if you think delay, no entertainment, cheap facilities and the possibility to lose your bag are ok, go with this airlines. I will never fly with this airlines again!!!. WORST AIRLINE ON PLANET!!!!!!!

I had to fly from dubai to kuwait via kuwait airways..i work in kuwait in kuwait n had jus cum to exit to dubai to change to permanent residence..they wouldnt let me board th flight tellin i dont hv the return ticket…i hav exited many times like this to renew my visit visa n it ws always with Emirates n it ws never a problem at al….this time did th biggest mistake in my life of choosing Kuwait Airways/ THE WORST AIRLINES IN THIS WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!! The staff was very rude n arrogant..tho i ws ready to take a return ticket n travel i changed my mind cos o this shitty atitude n behaviour n instead tuk a one way ticket with Emirates n reached Kuwait with 0 hassles. Guys dont ever choose this shitty airlines ever…!!!

It saddens me to read all this negative feedback about the airline. As a former employee in the 70’s under mr.marzook, the airline was well respected and functioned with utmost efficiency with great service and a commendable cabin crew.It seems an administritive rethink is required to revamp and a application of disciplined regulations for all to follow.

My choice to fly kw8 has proven a BIG MISTAKE!!!
its christmas eve i missed my connection because kw8 airlines delayed 2 hours to depart from kw8 with destination doha.
the attitude of the cabin crew was disgraceful because simply they dont care
i was obliged to buy new ticket with qatar to reach my final destination
no representative of kw8 airlines, just a call center center no compensation

i hope its the last time i ever see them.

Guys,
Kuwait airways sucks a lot. Even kuwait itself sucks a lot.

I booked a ticket on website with credit card and bastards took the money and did not issue a ticket. A big error message show up. I kept calling/emailing them but no luck. After 2 days of follow up they sent me the ticket (come on in 2016… 2 days to issue a eticket!!) which I don’t need as I booked with other airways.

Now the refund is pending since 20 days, no response for calls/emails even I sent messages to Rasha Alroumi CEO kuwaitairways (on facebook as their sucking website does not even have their CEO email).

I am lucky not to travel with them as just interaction with them is more then enough for me.

So guys, If someone offer you to fly free of cost on kuwait airways just don’t fly with them.

Kuwait airways SUXXXXX and the world should know about it.

Come one its 2016 we are in era of technology and they can not operate a website..even bangladesh airways have better services then kuwaiti suckers.

hello
I am working as a cabin crew in Kuwait airways and just wanted to tell you that we as a crew are always looking forward in to satisfying our passengers, some people might of had some bad experience with KAC and I am sorry for that, we have very nice people working with us and ofcoarse everywhere in the world there is good and there is bad, but people should know that to us safety is always our priority even on the costs of passenger satisfaction and comfort. there are many reasons for a delay and us crew are annoyed by it and hate it the most but if it ment saving lives then let it be , many delays are caused by security reasons and in Kuwait airways we would never put our passengers lives to a 0.000001 % risk chanse , I could give you more than 10 reasons for a delay caused by security reasons and ment for the safety of our passengers. and it is never caused by the crew weather it is deck crew or cabin crew, just remember we are on that plane for you we are there to help, assist, serve and making sure everything you need is provided but befor all of that also remember the main reason we are there is your safety, God forbids anything could happen and if does God forbids your safety and your life is our responsibility and no KAC crew can ever leave a passenger behind , we enter the cabin first to make sure you will enter safely and incase of any emergency we leave last for your safety, we might not be the best but I’m sure we always trying to be but do we have the best people and best crew ohh yes, but like I said everywhere and every Job in the world there is good and there is bad. don’t judge us because of the act of one of us ,we are crew and it’s almost impossible for all the crew working on board together to be all bad but they can be aall good, and remember please that our job is not easy we are also humans some of us have problems which could affect him in his work some of us have families they probably can’t see kinds and wife’s but we leave that outside the cabin and put your safety first satisfaction second , we deal with many different kind of people from different cultures with different mentalities different attitude a and they all think of us differently ,some of them are the nicest people ever and some aren’t so nice , some appreciate us and show respect and gratitude some them don’t,but we have to treat them all the same way you would be surprised maybe of the things we see and face , we deal with as a crew. I could never finish my comment trying to explain but keep this in mind we are there for you to satisfy you and help you with whatever you need and want just above all of that your safety and your life.anyone Can serve food coffee and tea and collect them but not anybody is trained to keep you safe even if it ment his life . I wish you the best and hope I explained to you some things to make you understand things. always look at the bright side, a delay could mean someone’s life. good bye
khalid naji
KAC CREW
LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE YOU ON BOARD

You want to tell me that the delay is due to security reasons??? Where “All other airliners, operating from same airport, having same no of passengers does not get delayed due to security”???

you said “we would never put our passengers lives to a 0.000001 % risk chance”. Do you mean that other airlines compromise the security to speed up or raise the service!!!!

get a life man!!

Why it is only Kuwait airways which have website and booking issues, aircraft issues, airport issues, attitude issues, service issues, etc etc etc. The list is long??

I can tell you the precise reason, it is CORRUPTION and ATTITUDE.

Your management is CORRUPT and have ATTITUDE issues. They least care about betterment of the airline and all they care about the government money they put in their pockets.

At last I will repeat and say:
Kuwait airways SUXXXXX and the world should know about it.

hi
I work for kuwait airways now, yes the company definitely has a lot of problems but the cabin crew work their buts off. Sorry to say it but Beirut flights is one of the most dreaded flights for us, because the passengers come on board screaming at us from the start to the end, how do you expect us to be happy and smily the whole flight through if you treat us like that? the cabin crew can not help that you didn’t book better seats or made sure at the counter that you sit together as a family, we cant help that the passengers are late or for other circumstances that delay the flights, we as crew are there on time and come home late because of it.
kuwait the country is slow in everything so what do you expect of the governments airline?
P.S a PLEASE and a THANK YOU goes a long way!!!!!

You said:
kuwait the country is slow in everything so what do you expect of the governments airline?

Yes this is the reason, Kuwait is slow in everything. The are fast at only one thing .. it’s CORRUPTION.
