Kuwait getting a nuclear power plant?

nuclear

Someone sent me a PDF document by Areva, a nuclear power generation solution provider, and inside the PDF it says that Kuwait has an order for one nuclear power plant. I guess this is how Kuwait will be solving its power shortages. Here is the PDF [Link]

Thanks Tim

After more than 60 years experience with oil refineries, Kuwait still don’t have world class petroleum education system! we still send people to other countries for education on what supposed to be our specialty. Oh, and our refineries have problems every few months (fires, explosions.. etc). If they build a nuclear plant (I doubt they will), they will create another Chernobyl in Kuwait. Where are they going to evacuate us then?! Failaka?

Bo-Bader, even after we send engineers overseas to get the “proper” training and education we still hire foreigners. What a waste of money and potential.

So true Rakan 😀

I guess that’s what the minister of foreign affairs and his group were doing in South Africa recently.

We should all expect a siege or an American invasion soon.

Wait a min, they are already invading us :S

This is the scariest bit of news I heard!!! This spells Fuck UP, we have been experts in blowing up refinery in the past five years or so its time to nuke ourself. I prefer the Britney Fan Club it smuch safer.

that is maskhara! countless proposals have been submitted to the idiot gov to approve SAFE and EFFECTIVE SOLAR alternatives! the most obvious answer to our energy crisis for a country with sunlight everyday of the year!! obviously someone used was6a to try this ridiculous idea!

Kuwait has officially requested assistance from USA to build a nuclear power plant and US has agreed to assicet Kuwait there will be 3 nuclear plants in the gulf 1st Kuwait 2nd KSA 3rd UAE

Nuclear energy is incredibly resourceful, and by all accounts extremely safe and reliable.

However, can u imagine what a nuclear infected Agaad would look like?

Rakan

I know what you mean. I graduated with a Bachelor and a Masters from one of the best universities in my field. When I went back to Kuwait I was frustrated with the mentality of government officials and business managers/owners. They pay foreign workers (specially westerners) big money for doing a job that we can do maybe even better. We had the same education and work experience and we never even given the chance to prove ourselves. No offense to any non-Kuwaitis who work in Kuwait, but we would like to have our chance building our country.
I had enough when our company started hiring engineers from and pay them twice as much as everyone else!! I Decided to leave and work in the US. At least here my professional opinion is always heard and always proven correct.

Crockrock, there aint gonna be no difference with irradiated agad and current won. But I just wanna say coz its my bizness – there been some refinry explosion in USA recent. Texas last month and some BP thing some time last year mebbe? So dun worry if Kuwait has power station, we only have 1 majr problem with someone dying an I think was 2002.

Sharm,

You are correct about uncontrollable part. I have noticed that business owners usually like to control/enslave worker and they can only do that with non-kuwaitis using the residency card. One of the my previous colleague got an offer from another company with double what he was getting, when he asked the management for a residency transfer they told it is either here or bye bye.

You are wrong, however, about the laziness. Kuwaitis in private, at least the one I worked with, work as hard as everyone else. t is those at Baladiya and other government sectors who are lazy and never go to work.

kuwait’s backbone of economy is oil sources. However it is a small country it doesnt needs a large amount of energy to satisfy their neccesities. It will be very better if they concentrate on thermal power plants…………
