Kuwait Metro project moves forward

The entire project consists of 69 stations (16 per cent underground) with total length of 160 km. PTB is currently focusing on delivering phase 1 of the project which will include the construction network of roughly 50 km, with 28 new stations, 30 per cent of which will be underground.

The article doesn’t mention a start or end date but I guess it’s the thought that counts. [Link]

Update: Work on the Doha Metro starts in 2013 [Link]

It would be really nice if they toke it seriously oo made a close due date and they would finish it fast so atleast we would have some “ta6weer” in the country , plus Idk what u guys think but if I was one of the people doing this project I would stress the word MAINTANCE. That thing we lack in so many govermantial projects ,, other than that inshallah all goes to plan and we would have a metro that we would be proud of ,,

I know this is to long but 1 more thing
I think if the metro was succseful ontime and well maintaned it will open a door to all the kuwaities with great ideas that yaboon e6wroon el kuwait ,

Cuz a lot of them got the idea but they go through a lot of stuff to do it and in the end they don’t get approved so they go outside of kuwait and they do it that’s how every country is growing

Tara in kuwait we are either the first ones to do it in the khalij or it was our idea but it didn’t pass so they took it into other neighbooring countries …

Great network ! But I hope they make parking lot in every station so I can park my car and take the metro my way to work, the roads to kuwait city is becoming nerve racking !

I hope they have express trains (w/fewer stops). It seems there are too many stops. For example, from Fahaheel to Sheraton (Jahra Gate) there are 14 stops! It will take at least an hour to make all the stops. Faster to drive, but, I guess it beats the bus.

What are you basing this on? How long is the train going to stop at each station? Half a minute? A minute at most. So that’s 14 minutes for stops. How long is the distance? How fast will it be doing?

Exactly. I took the Dubai metro from Ibn Battuta mall to downtown (clocktower) once just to time it. It took close to 90 minutes! Like Mark said, it stopped for at least 2 minutes at each station and it was going at a speed of no more than 80 Km an hour! Mega slow, but, again, better than the bus.

what do all GCC countries, besides Kuwait, have in common? No parliament like Kuwait. thats why their projects get done faster.

I think this would be more for foreigners then kuwaities, a way to make room on streets for kuwaities to drive without too much traffic. Most kuwaities are not gonna use it on regular basis.

wow i am loving this !! Reminds me of london tube! Well i would love to travel in this to get rid from the daily traffic caused by the accidents ! Doesnt matter where the accident happens both lanes get slow down !

Does anyone know who is doing this project ?

Personally, I’d rather they fix up the bus system here in Kuwait. I don’t particularly mind the relatively expensive tickets (7.5 KD for 3 routes/month, really?) or the dirtiness of the buses. But an unpredictable schedule is a show stopper for me.

I wouldn’t mind paying extra for a clean bus with a fixed schedule.
