Partnerships Technical Bureau (PTB) has stated it expects the Metro to begin operating by 2020, and that the first phase of the development will extend more than 54km and be serviced by 28 stations, nine of which will be underground.

It was 69 stations and 160km length a couple months back…?
It’s refering to ‘the first phase’.
Now I owe someone money…
GREAT !! now we are ready for a zombie apocalypse
Am I the only one who thought of the Subway level on left 4 dead? 😀
by 2020??? I wonder if the London are taking bets on when it will really open, I would add 10 to 15 years, We all know how projects get canceled and delayed.
Having been to many government buildings and seen the level of construction and maintenance taken I would be scared to death to ride and I like thrill rides at amusement parks (not in Kuwait). will the rail intersect any roads? If so… you thing you saw bad wrecks now, we will be taking this to the next level..
You all know what I mean….
When was the last time a ride in a Kuwait amusement park went wrong?
for me never, but I do dig the water park..
more like 2200 😛
Funny!
Is it April fools day??
2020 really means 20200. They forgot to add the last zero.

The project is meaningless without increased pedestrian walkways.
My prediction:
2042
I think we should start a website with predictions, best guess wins a burger
I doubt it’ll finish by the time they say, I mean just look around u when did we ever say that something would b finished in a certain time & got it done except for shopping malls? NON!!! This project won’t finish on time.
I know alot of people will be replaying back but I honestly think trains in Kuwait is a silly idea and a bit of a waste , Kuwaits to small with very few main areas . I can’t possibly imagen any kuwaities letting their sis or mother go on a train , same reason why they don’t let them use a public buses. Again it only takes me 15-30 mins to get from point A (anywhere in Kuwait) to point B (destination). It defiantly won’t be out by 2020 Ive seen so many buildings , bridges , areas ect in Kuwait take more then 8 years to build who doesn’t remember the bridge from 5th ring road to salmiya bridge road that took years and years. Anyway that’s my opinion of the idea . You may start with the QQing
This train will not be used by Kuwaitis primarily, like in Dubai, it will be for foreigners and this is not a silly idea, but a necessity for this country in dealing with the gridlock. I just can’t imagine what the gridlock will be in 2014 let alone 2020, it might be a nightmare by then – you might have all these MP’s riding in helicopters everywhere and what a traffic nightmare that will be in the air@#$%
In addition, an immediate overhaul and upgrade of the buses in this country with new air-conditioned bus stops all over this country is needed right now in order to pull some of these vehicles off the roads or at least give people incentives to get off the roads. Someone give these bus drivers tickets that are driving 80 km in the center lane or 180 km in the center lane. Make a law that all trucks and buses must be in the far right two lanes and enforce it. They give tickets to drivers in the UAE for driving slow -they are annoying.
i must admit that kuwait gives to many people driving licences to foreigners but they solved that problem today in the newspaper:
anyone who hasnt got a stable salary of 600kd cannot get a driving licence in kuwait
now thats half a million people without licences
1. kuwait is tiny * true *
2. trains might solve the crowd problems * true *
3. giving tickets to bus drivers * YES !!*
its not silly but at the same time it could be a waste of money
but with kuwait not using its money on tourist entertaiment * like dubai does or any country really! * i guess its worth the waste, but im already imagening the train station being the same smelly place in kuwait city or farwaniya.
if this helps getting rid of the bad drivers from hell off the road im happy 😀
yeah but why not let people with salaries under 600kd drive? that’s discrimination. what only rich people can get a license? do u have a link on this new rule?
https://news.kuwaittimes.net/2012/05/27/kd600-minimum-salary-to-apply-for-drivers-license-ministry-studying-proposal/
There’s a shitload of proposals in this country but they rarely pass each and every one of them.
There SHOULD be a limit on driving licenses, but 600kd is too high.
But Nora, they won’t have the ability to track all the driver’s with driver’s licenses already that should be pulled off the roads. I have a Dubai driver’s license and when I was in their license office, I saw tons of sub-continent workers who had their licenses revoked for driving offenses – it is called ‘black points’ in the UAE. This system tracks bad drivers. But there is a whole host of issues in Kuwait from poor driver’s license procedures, shotty driver’s instruction places and a poor MOI that does not give tickets on the roads. Many of these drivers were not trained before they came to KWT and thrive by the lack of punishment here for their poor driving habits which, I feel, are times a greater threat to the roads in Kuwait then the common target in conversations- the Kuwaitis who get their driver’s license with minimal proper training also. So if you overhaul the buses, increase routes, install air-conditioned bus stops in Kuwait you will have an easier time pulling bad driver’s off the roads. Case in point.
I smell BS….
thats what im talking about ^^
It was all good till “WE GOT A DATE.” Then i started laughing
Well at least I won’t be here till then.
Will Kuwait have the funds to complete the project by then. I hear varied rumors that Kuwait’s oil cash flow will swindle downwards drastically by 2017.
I think “swindle” is the operative word here…
2020 humm u really think so
