Kuwait Running Out of Water

Kuwaitis are consuming almost more water than the country can produce.

An estimated 1.5 million cubic meters of water was being consumed daily in Kuwait, dangerously close to country’s maximum production capacity at, the business news site Arabian Business reported.

According to the report Kuwait, which produces nearly all of its water from desalination plants, produces just 1.51 million cubic meters of water a year.

Looks like next year we are going to have water cuts in addition to the power cuts. [Link]

Yeah, they should charge for the extra water we use. poor us, we’ll have to go from 1 hour showers to 3 minute showers 😛

Why am I not surprised? ummm lets see:

1. Desert country (extremely low rainfall and water reserves)

2. Not even the slightest concept of water conservation among people.

3. Little to no water recycling.

4. Low cost / no EPA regulations for excessive use and waste of water.

5. Desert country……

Yea didn’t see this one coming…

“An estimated 1.5 million cubic meters of water was being consumed DAILY in Kuwait”

AND

“produces just 1.51 million cubic meters of water a YEAR”

Something does NOT add up in the two sentences above ! Get your numbers right ppl !

Its probably because of all those houseboys that clean everything with water EVERYDAY! Apparently they’ve never heard of an old invention called a broom!
Ugh when I see all that water wasted in the streets!

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. This country does not address any serious issues unless it happens. Why? I guess it gets high on reality checks.

Good….let it happen so that everyone could understand the luxury of clean water.

hmmm u wonder why especially when you see that everyone has their car washed DAILY HELLOOOOO WE ARE LIVING IN A DESERT !!!

What’s with the numbers?

Anyway, the sad part is that despite this, no one will start using their watering responsibly (like they should anyway) and people will continue to waste water and electricity here as always.

I blame all these problems on that British consultant working at the Ministry of Electricity and Water. It seems like he doesn’t know what he’s doing OR he is making things go to the worse as a service for someone trying to push their own projects.

I don’t understand why do we keep getting in Kuwait worst of the worse. Look at the British consultants working in the UAE and look at ours. what a pity.

Nameless: I am a water treatment specialist in UAE. For your knowledge there are no british consultants working in water departments (its good otherwise they will spoil here also like kuwait).

If they actually start to have water cuts, it will be an advantage behind the disadvantage. This will effect the way we live and improve it.
