My Sakhr Games

Nearly everyone who grew up in Kuwait at one point in time must have had a Sakhr (MSX) or at least had a neighbor or knew someone who had one. I lost practically all my toys during the Iraqi invasion except for my Sakhr which I was able to take with me to Lebanon and then bring back to Kuwait after the liberation where it’s been with me ever since. I decided to take pictures of all my games (there are a few I couldn’t find like Rambo) in the hopes of bringing back good memories to people familiar with the games so here they are below.

Update: I found Rambo plus 3 other games and added to the gallery above.

wow that brings back so many memories, there was a game where a penguin has to avoid falling in the holes and theres one where he finds santa inside it, any idea which one was that?

Some of those games are for MSX2, what machine do you own?

Some time ago I got that nostalgic feeling and started playing some of those games on my Mac and PSP with an emulator. It was still fun, but not the same as playing it on TV with Sakhar’s sturdy keyboard πŸ™‚ I still have my MSX 150 in some box at my parents house.

I wrote about my experience here:

I didn’t know you still had these!!! These are my memories too!!
Is hopper the frog game? πŸ˜€

I don’t remember some of the games…

I think we used to play Vampire killer, metal gear (4 from below on the left ?), Rambo, Zanac and Dungeon Hunter the most!! … and of course the frog game πŸ˜€

Did we have river raid on msx or coleco?

You can actuall still play those on your pc, i had an emulator along with all the games you can imagine, arabic or english..
If you are intrested just tell me πŸ™‚ thank you..

Bu Yousif – thank you for that.. and yes that brought back tears.

Good times those were! Donkey kong was pretty fun as well, can’t remember coz i might be confusing the games on the snes as well.

Lucky you! I kept all my games but in 2007 my mother caught up to them and got rid of them :'(

All I could salvage was those two, one you have and one you don’t :p

By the way I play MSX games on the PC emulator all the time. ALL THE TIME! The other day I was playing Castle and King & baloons where you save the king from the baloons trying to capture it.

Thank god for emulators <3

The Castle was always hard and still is. I can’t play games anymore that require you start from the very beginning when you lose your 3 lives. It frustrates me! lol

Konami’s old posters are truly master piece.
As you can see on metalgear, salamander and F1 these are very detailed graphics!
Did you know that Gradius poster is priced at 150,000 yen?
I’ve been collecting games posters of Capcom’s, Snk’s and Konamis for 3 years .

Nice post

you can get all those games for free as an emulator. I still play my favorite game “zanac” every now and then

I got the MSX from my uncle which originally belonged to him, but my silly dad gave it away along with all the games to our building’s super intendent or “7arris”, never saw it again.

Some of the games that I recall from that list of yours:

Salamander, metal gear, King’s valley.

but some of the ones that had were

This was my all time favorite, does anyone remember it?
