A friend just received an SMS saying an unknown mob are throwing rocks at the MBC and Al Arabiya TV station buildings in Bneid al Gar area. The SMS doesn’t say why.

update:

Because of the new series calld “Kha6aya thaman” some thing like that they dont want this series to be shown in MBC during Ramadan.

There is a new Kuwaiti sitcom to be shown during Ramadan called “lel khataya thaman” in shorts, there are so many questions raised. The sitcom is biased (against Shiites) and will show scenes of visiting holy shrines and comfort marriage (zawaj mot’aa). Now its not a media issue, its becoming a political and sectorial issue

I was driving at around 11 today and saw a lot of police cars.. I was wondering what was going on, but gussed that a hot shot person was passing by.. well, I’m glad it is just rocks not anything else :S

Oh my God! When will people learn to let things be! Just because someone chooses to address a religious issue in a show, does not mean that there is a crisis happening! and in fact, the majority of shows all around the world are biased, because they reflect the viewpoint of the writer. And so what if they show these types of scenes? We see worse than these types of scenes daily on our favorite Western TV shows!
I think that before people react violently, they should watch the show first! Maybe its not as bad as they think.

Remember when Lion King came out? People wanted to ban it in kuwait cause the son kills the father or something. Then there was a problem about Pikachu in Pokemon being jewish or something.

These people need jobs.

The producer of the show has issued a statement (according to today’s papers) asking people not to pass judgment on the show before actually seeing it. I agree.

Unfortunately we are a nation that is quick to judgment and I am willing to bet that a lot of those who have upset themselves over this HEARD about the controversy and have not actually READ about it.

Kuwait doesn’t want it to be shown because it won’t entertain the people but it will only stir shit up, and why do that? Out of all the subjects they had to choose this one and attack a group of people to stir shit up?

Things are already tense, this show isn’t needed. This isn’t like Lion King or Pokemon, this is religion and we know how touchy it is.

Also a lot of people are annoyed by the fact that all the shows that have stories of whoring around and moral corruption’s coming from Kuwait, hence ruining the reputation of Kuwaitis, ’cause it’s bought by other Gulf channels and shown. Bottom line is, they want to keep that shit on the inside not to the general gulf region.

I’m for ending all Arab television, it just sucks from camera work to story lines to acting. If they showed one episode of Seinfeld and repeated it through out Ramadan I’d be more entertained.

Speaking of religion and way off topic has anybody noticed in Salmiya mothercare and sultan center a guy in a white Toyota driving round and around blasting a religious tape with the windows open? Whats up with that?
