They’re not new, they’ve been around for a while in residential areas
haven’t seen them anywhere else
there is one at the Salmiya Coop branch (near salmiya garden)
and, sadly, it has become a neglected, overflowing health hazard over the last couple of years. The only thing that gets removed from it is the paper; the metal, glass, and plastic compartments are disgusting.
no one using this bins for recycling , you will find rubbish in all of it .
At least they’re doing that much. One step at a time.
Yeah I see them everywhere in residential areas mine included. They’re not new I’m afraid.

Sabah Salem. I’ve been using them for the past two years, they’re that old. Unfortunately, no one else in my neighborhood uses them so whenever I dump in a new load, the only things I see in there are the plastic bottles I disposed of before.
Also, and this is something that’s been gnawing at me for the longest time, they rarely pick up the garbage. It just accumulates and accumulates till the bins start to overflow with garbage.
It’s gross.

I have seen these bins located outside the Sharq coop, Al Rawda Mini Coops 2/3/4. The problem is that they are not cleared on a daily basis and are over flowing. Most people do not know what they are and dump their regular garbage. I for one segregate the paper / plastic at home and dump them in these bins every once a month.
I’ve seen them before around the co-ops in some of the residential areas. They’re not really new.
we have one here next to our house for the past 3 years. the little kids around the cop op already broke it and lit it on fire :/
Where I live, they’re not new at all, been here since 2013 I think, nobody uses them anyway (I live near Al Saif Hospital).
Mark, why not hide inside one of the bins to snap chat about the country’s garbage?

We have them as well in Jabriya (next to big Co-op). But nobody seems to use tthem..

Politician Safaa Al Hashem funded a youth project that put these around about 2 years ago- it even says “Safaa” on the bins. I personally recycle all plastic in my house at the coop and have been doing so all year (even made sure they empty them)- its a good start for Kuwait!
Conclusion: Failed government.

This isn’t a thing you implement overnight, kids at school need to be aware of recycling and it’s benefits, they need to practice during their childhood, same concept as the seat belts

There’s one in front of Abu Halaifa co-op filled with trash, one in Qortuba housing area, filled with trash and one at the Qortuba co-op, wait for it……… filled with trash.
Out of Topic, does someone know why kuwaiti blogs are dying? like Q8ping, Frankom and ZDistrict? i always enjoy these one including Mark’s but it’s less fun now.

i know it was in my mind for as long as i remember but i don’t know why i didn’t ask it earlier … i guess i don’t have an excuse.

Social Media people started using Instagram and snapchat and other apps that felt much better and more common than blogging.
But for me personally always been checking back and forth on Mark’s Blog from time to time
the public needs to be educated first, these attempts are useless with no awareness campaigns
this is the best comment so far. how do they expect to utilise the bins when the majority of people don’t care about recycling nor understand the benefits.
do we even have proper recycling facilities in Kuwait? (I know we have some, but it’s just a general question that should be clarified to all)
a simple social media campaign about recycling awareness would be a good start.
btw, we’ve had these bins in the slums of Ardiyah for a couple now.
