No More Lessons

Yesterday was my last riding lesson. After a total of 10 lessons I am now ready to take the riding test so I went today morning to get an appointment. I was expecting the guy to give me an appointment for sometime this week or worst case an appointment for sometime next week. The guy took my learners permit and started stamping it and writing down my riding test date when I saw him write in Arabic 12 October. So I told the guy nicely could you please make it earlier then the 12th, the guy looked at me and said this is the 21st of October not the 12th. I was like shit, ok could you make it earlier then that, he replied no and gave me back my papers.

Now I have to wait 3 weeks before I can get my license. I was really hoping to get it now so I could use the month of Ramadan to practice on the streets. The Gulf Road is deserted at around 6PM which would be perfect for a newbie like me. By the time I get my license now, Ramadan would be over.

dude, just take your brike and cruise everywhere, police won’t stop you unless you start doing the “no-hands” and “one leg-one hand” tricks.

Mark if your riding and not doing anything on the streets then the cops wont stop you. Just ride sensibly, and you have the learners permit so its not like you dont have anything at all.

Worst case scenario is that the cop is a dick and he doesnt want you riding, he will take away your permit and it will be a bitch. But 99% of the time nothing happens, I was riding for a few weeks on my permit, and I was riding on the gulf road, highways, everything and nobody ever stopped me. As long as your not doing anything crazy they wont stop you.

They have a rule not to follow motorcycles, so if your cool on the road and just enjoy the ride, nobody will stop you.

yeah if a cop stops you, just tell him ur mark of mark248am1.wpenginepowered.com….im sure he’ll let u go πŸ™‚

i’m with Marzouq

kuwaiti police for some reasons think one who wear the helmet is a nice guy and nothing wrong with him πŸ™‚

Bureaucracy at its finest…and much worse…Middle Eastern bureaucracy. Although the chances of getting caught are slim, there’ll always be that feeling at the back of your head, thinking of making a U-Turn and heading home at each ring road. Good luck man…and keep your helmet on, it’s one of the things that cops use to filter the good from the bad.

The cops have an unwritten rule of not chasing anyone on their bike to avoid any lethal accidents. Also, those power bikes can quickly outrun even a souped up police car. So ride normally and you will not get stopped, license or no license. Enjoy.

“he replied no and gave me back my papers”

I get pissed off with all the obstinate c*ntish officials in the country.

And yes, I’ll GTFO as soon as I stopped getting paid too much.

Dear Mark,
I am pleased that you are enjoying your bike. I have a good news for you which we did not want to tel you before.Your Learners Permit is as good as a License so you can use it while ridding your bike to gain experience, however conditioned that 1- No passengers 2- Do not ride on crowded main roads. Gulf Road I would avoid at all times special Ramadan as during Ramadan the police sets up traps to catch the Holigans (not sure of spelling !)So you see it does not mater when is your test date !!
But the most important thing is YOU do not shortcut your proper training .It is good to practice as much as you can but the training course is intended to get you through the surprises that you do not want to have on the road. Some times it might seem boring but the idea is to do as much as you can.The last time I saw you in the field did not give me th efeeling that you are ready for the road !Safe ridding.!

To all you dear bikers out there.I have read most of your comments about Mark’s situation with the bikre’s License ! I am not too happy !
Please Note That A license is NOT to satisfy the Police ! It is the license to protect you agains any liability if an accident does happen ! Your insurance will not cover you if You Do Not Have a License or permit to lear as explained in comment No14. Do not take this issue lightly.Liability is a serious mater .
Safe Ridding

see mark i told u something could happen if a cop who hated lebanese people read this……well this isnt exactly the same thing, but close enough πŸ™‚
