Shops are Open

Someone told me that ALL stores are not allowed to be open in these 3 days of mourning. I heard that any store that is caught open would be fined KD1000. Supermarkets and grocery stores are an exception. So why is it when on my way to City Center in Salmiya yesterday did I find a bunch of shops open along the way? One of the stores for example was the laundromat “5 ASEC” (or something like that). I also heard that Costa and Columbus cafe were open on the first day. Yesterday Johnny Rockets, Texas Chicken and Subway were open in Salmiya.

What is allowed to open and what isn’t? I think nothing should be allowed to open just supermarkets and grocery stores. If I was in charge I would have gone around yesterday smacking people with fines and shutting down their stores.

LOL i agree… spot the sneaker buggers trying to take advantage of being the only ppl open for business… hehe poach the customers. At times like this you could jack up your prices and be like: tough! You want it? Pay up!

I was thinking, what if you needed to get someone a bday present and u left it until sunday morning… u would have been screwed!

Im sure lots of ppl have found themselves inconvenienced, wonder what the funniest stories out there are…

As for restaurants, Dominos and other delivery guys are open, and Fuddruckers along the seafront is open!

Hmmm maybe some ppl think they will make more money than the fine… hence its worth it…

I have heard various opinions about the fines, from 50Kd to 500Kd and now 1,000KD

shit man these ppl got to make a living. i mean at least resturants should open. the thing that is going to be annoying is the next 40 days and how they will prob cancel halla febraayer. man kuwait doesn’t need to be more retarded and depressing that it already is and keep banning fucking celebrations

Why fine restuarants and cafes? Only government sectors were to be closed for the three day mourning! 1000KD fine? Thats nonsense. Yes our leader passed away,God bless his soul, but that doesnt mean we put a stop to our daily lives! People die each and every day, move on.

the diwan statment said “public institutions” not private businesses. why should they close…sadness is in the heart… and going out for coffee or getting your laundry done is not entertainment…what about the people who are visiting kuwait cant they have a bite arent they allowed to eat???

fucking people , so rude , damn …. CANT THEY JUST CLOSE FOR 3 DAYS ?? y3ne they r ripping everyone off in the other 362 days..

its not about sadness , its just to show some respect , he was the Emir not some normal guy..

people who disagreed are:

1-zalamat
2-non-kuwaities
3-mom being a non-kuwaity producing a fake sibling.
4-loner
5-no-life loser

i dont give a crap about what others think, after 25+ years spent in ruling the country, 3 fuckin days arent a problem.

I just cant believe the amir died.

I am a student in the US state of Utah, and us kuwaities here are on our 2nd day out of 3 days fasting and praying for god’s mercy upon our amir.

this is what we do thousands of miles away, and people over there are complaining about restaurants.

screw u all

mark (so let me guess, ur getting second thoughts about removing my comment?)

might as well track my ip and find out where im living.

I pretty much agree with Ahmed. He did so many things for the country, so putting your life on hold for 3 days to show respect isn’t such a big deal. If you’re a Kuwaiti and it’s that big of a problem for you to not go to Marina for 3 days, I suggest you get the fuck out of Kuwait beacuse you don’t belong here.

hahaha man kuwaitis living outside of kuwait are either really cool, or absolute fucktards like this Ahmed al ja3moos faggot. I am 100% kuwaiti, living in Kuwait and i really couldn’t give a fuck. i respect the Amir but that’s about it. i don’t know him personally to start lactating about the thought of making a huge deal about his death. these ppl are giving this issue a bad image, by forcing it down eveyrone’s throat.

i don’t mind the 3 day mourning deal because it’s respectful but some people here really need ot get over this needless hostile bullshit. i remember a few dumbass kuwaitis i was hanging with hate egypt now bc their channel wasn’t broadcasting koran. and some ppl were also shunning LBC and MBC for continuing regular programming. wtf the wrong with these ppl it’s not like prophet mohmammed just died or something. get the fuck over yourselves and keep your sexual mourning fantasies to yourselves.

My bro holla! there are ppl out there who exist on daily wages unlike our Utah friend who is sitting on his rear end with his education being footed by the Govt..
Love his comments about what type of ppl wont agree with the 3 days.. the bit about the “mom being a non-kuwaity producing a fake sibling” really had me going..
And Mark .. “why would I remove your comment?”.. lets not even go there!.. you and I know the truth.. Mein Fuhrer!

Hilarious

Its so much fun to see how this post has developed… heated to say the least…

Respect is fine… though these 3 days have been an inconvenience I must admit.

Anyways, god rest his soul and that of the thousands of innocent children that die every day from starvation. Dont see anyone shedding a tear for them.

😀

The web working its wonders… freedom of speech… priceless

well what I said was what I see happening all the time, you do tend to do it a lot, it’s too much like being what i said you were!
Apologies if it insults you, im calling it as i see it!

Don’t like what I see unfortunately.. how could someone who comes across as being quite intelligent not see what is so obvious.
Doublethink is the only answer I have as to why you would be the way you are.

You don’t know me and therefore you can’t judge me. All you know is what you read here and if thats given you the impression that I kiss ass to Kuwaitis well thats just what you see.

You obviously didn’t get it…time to move on… consider me to be Wowbagger, the Infinitely Prolonged on my never ending quest.

I think that the Kuwaitis have got it right. Closing down for a few days to remember someone who has died is a great thing to do, and shows respect for his/her family. It is a chance for us all to take stock and think about our lives/our families/our mortality/what is important to us. Yes, we’re all going to die at some point and although our respective countries will not go into a collective mourning when we do, it is good to have the chance to stop and think about someone and their accomplishments. I am only just beginning to understand how much the Amir did for Kuwait and many, many other people around the world, and how a 3-day mourning period seems such a small gesture to honour someone of his stature.

As it was stated it was a government shutdown for 3 days. Any private institution can be at shutdown at its own accord. And alot of businesses shutdown out of respect for the amir. As it was previously stated he did a lot for Kuwait, and I personally think that he was a great man for this country, and other countries. People mourn this man because of the many good things he has done, and all the hardships kuwait went through was during his riegn. My company shutdown, and I spent most of my with my family, but the first day I was at Slaybikhat, and the second day at Bayan Palace in the morning. And thats the least I could do in my opinion for someone who has done so much. You do not realize how much he affected Kuwait.

Alah yur7am ubu el kil.

Marzouq

I got 95.4% as my highschool mark, plus i studied highschool in brighton england.

my dad is kuwaity, same with my mom. I get paid to study abroad, so why not?

The amir have died, 48 kuwaities around utah have gathered, 18 more are driving across the states on the way to the 2 story villa 800m2 that we have rented for a shortstay (5 days).

We have bought flags, and everything to show our patriotism.

what makes me laugh is that you guys over there are fighting over the 3 days where u cant visit marina or any of that shit, i pity you guys, seriously..

I wish i was in kuwait, The amir was one of the people to be respected.

I wish i would grow to obtain 1 of his features, we ask god to place him in heaven inshalla, may he rest in peace.

36 comments on this matter… mine being the 37th one… Well, Mr. Jaber Al Sabah sure was a popular person, no doubt there…

How many days did Saudi Arabia shut down when their king, Mr. Fahad passed away… & how many days mourning did they have ? hmm…
