Tattoos

tattoo

Tonight I noticed a temporary tattoo stand in the Marina Mall food court where they airbrush different designs onto your skin. Seeing the tattoo stand made me think, how come we don’t have tattoo parlors in Kuwait? I remember ages ago someone telling me its illegal but I doubt thats the case, why would getting a tattoo be illegal?

it’s forbidden because if it wasn’t, there’d be a bunch of stupid teenagers running around with retarded tattoos like a skull or something.

i’m not against it being haram but i wonder why it’s haram, the tattoo is removable like henna, and henna is not haram, so how come tattoo is haram? i wonder if it’s the tattoo’s reputation is what’s being judged and not the tattoo itself

its 7ram cuz ir not allowed to change anything in ur body permenantly, and on top of that they say the ink is najis or something…
if u have it.. then u cant pray.

but in some women saloons, u can get a tattoo for ur eyebrow or something

its mentioned in a 7adeeth that its 7aram, and yes, there are some ladies’ salons who do tattoos, and not just the eyebrow and lip kind. why would any1 want to get something on their body that theyre gonna regret having when theyre old and saggy ? ;p

It’s not 7aram. women years ago used to have “Dagat” on there face. It’s very common back in the days. it used to be a beautiful thing

M, they are 7aram and women u r talking about who hv them where back in the days of jahlyah then it spread to become some sort of tradition it wasn’t religion related they prolly didn’t know it was 7aram or knew and still did it just like some women these days do to their eyebrows and lips

Tattoos are Haram for a number of reasons:
1. In Islam self inflicted pain is Haram so getting a tattoo is painful and falls under this category
2. Some scholars consider it to be changing the way a body naturally looks for beautification reasons which is also haram eg. getting a nose or boob job.
3. It is also said that tattoos block water from fully penetrating the skin during Wothoo2, hence not completing the Wotho2.

I totally agree with Patrik imagine allowing tattoo pallor’s in Kuwait. Everything here is abused and im sure they will abuse this to the fullest.
The[M]Code, i dont think tattoos are the same as hena since hena disappears with time and is FREE !! getting rid of tattoos is expen$$$ive and will leave a scar for life i think.

i have to admit though i get hena tattos every now and then =P

Well, yes it is 7aram as people explained up in previous comments bas a henna or temporary stickers tattoos are ok, as long as they are not injected in the skin. It’s changing what God created – which is 7aram

Sunnis say it’s 7aram and since Kuwait is a Sunni ruled country, tattoo parlors are forbidden, yet some ladies’ salons do tattoos (but I guess temporary ones).

But for us Shee3a it’s 7alal πŸ˜›
I’m so getting one lol

Putting salt in your food is more harmful to your health than a tattoo. How come salt aint haram.
Isn’t it up to an individual to do what they like as long as they dont harm others?? Or are we a turning into a society where we blindly do as we’re told by religious hypocrites, with out asking any questions nor allowig any other school of thought. Having these people dictate to us EVERY SINGLE small detail of our life, even down to a bloody tattoo. I see this to be a very dangerous affair.

Shouldn’t cosmetic surgery of the teeth (to look more brighter and straighter than natural) be illegal or haram? or havent they caught up on that one yet. maybe they will issue a fatwa on that one soon because it’s a permanant thing.
How about earrings, dont you permenantly make a hole in your ear for that… the list is endless. it’s ridiculas.
OK..hypothetical question time… Assuming you cannot prey with a tatto because of the reasons above.. so what happens to a person that has already been tattooed and he wants to convert from another religion into Islam.. lol… think about it.

okay here’s the thing…. most of you above are saying that tatoo’s are 7aram because its changing what god created… but what about the millions of muslim women AND men who get plastic surgery? Boob jobs, liposuction, nose jobs…. shouldn’t that be 7aram as well since it’s changing what god created?!

It’s haram because the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has cursed both the tattoo artist and the one carrying a tattoo. This is the primary reason behind it’s impermissibility, regardless of whether the wisdom behind it is known or not, as is the case with everything haram. A argument can be made that pork isn’t harmful to eat, but even if that were the case it wouldn’t change its status from haram because there is an explicit prohibition on it (derived from Qur’an/Sunnah).

anayah,
It is allowed to do plastic surgery to remove some kind of disfigurement that causes the one physical, psychological or emotional problems. Yet, Islam discourages any unnecessary plastic surgery which is sought for the mere purpose of excessive beautification.

Tattoos have some serious effects on your body, some people got skin cancer because of it. So, changing your look is not the only reason.
Allah doesn’t make anything forbidden without a reason.

the main reason for it to be illegal is that they fear from it’s infections rather more than beind haram in the 2nd place, otherwise they would’ve stopped salons and other few places from making them.

if it was only because it’s haram then plastic surgery doctors would’ve been illegal as well and stopped as well as saloons

viewing all the never ending reasons, why promote a temporary tattoo then? if you get a TEMPORARY tattoo, isnt it changing the way your body looks TEMPORARILY? so its “HARAM” TEMPORARIRLY??? whats the difference then? you get to commit sin temporarily then pray for forgiveness afterwards?? hmmm.. interesting…

q8one

WHAT ON EARTH does this have to do with Sunni and Shi3a people … please act as an adult and having salt in moderate consumption is not harmful actually its important to anyone’s diet it is considered a antimicrobial or microbiological control agent.

Please act like an adult and stop making these useless comparisons, that’s how Kuwait is and always will be .. don’t like then leave. trust me if you think you and couple of hundred ppl want tattoos im sure no less than 250,000 are against it.

“Please act like an adult – don’t like then leave”

here we go again…. same sh*t, different day.

This is Kuwait and many people like it the way it is. Why are some people trying to convert Kuwait to the US …. we have our own culture and traditions dont try to change them … anyone who wants to get a tattoo no problem go ahead get it anywhere u like one … thing is for sure no one is getting it from kuwait.
and i hope this never changes.

now that’s better. instead of saying “dont like then leave”
for me i respect kuwait. the most logical reason i see is that they ban tattoos for health reasons (coz u could get aids, hepatitis and some sh*t diseases sometimes) but its all upto us if we wana get one or not.. *wink

hahahaha I love how everyone gets so worked up on these issues and suddenly everyone is a sheikh or imam, prays five times a day, plus the extras, and walks around with a beard running down to his knees. “Its 7aram!”, “no its not!”. And I bet that at the end of the day half of the people making up fatwas dont pray, drink, and watch porn, to name a few. Instead of wasting your time on what is 7aram and what is not, please people mind your own fucking business and let people decide for themselves. No wonder our culture is so backwards, everything has to be decided for us.

This is hypocrisy and studpidity at its ultimate best. As Einstein has wisely said, “Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former.” Well said Albert, well said.

i had one at marina mall…last week…its pretty cool actually but goes after 3 to 4 days…can any1 tell me how can i upload the picture of the tattoo here?:S

Back to the actual topic: I think that there is a tattoo parlor in Kuwait. I’ve heard rumors that there is an underground tattoo parlor someplace in Kuwait.

God-knows how crappy it is. They probably use lead-based ink to tattoo people with. And you know what’s going to happen to those tattooed ppl right? If they don’t get sick, one day, years from the day they got the tattoo, they’re going to go get an x-ray or an MRI and all those lovely little particles of lead are going to painfully tear out of their skin because of the magnetism of the machine.

Muhahahaha!

PS: I get my edumakation from House, M.D.

dreamx upload it here and then post the link

Prophet, when I was in high school some friends got tattoos at this Filipino’s guys house. He was supposedly pretty good and I don’t find that hard to believe since there are a lot of talented Filipino illustrators in Kuwait. hygiene would be a problem though.

you know what’s funny, everybody in here is saying that Islam forbids altering or changing your body, so there is a weird thing… how on earth could you justify removing 60 to 90% of your sexual pleasure by circumcision ???
That ‘s DAMN evil.

I dont think there is anything wrong with a tattoo. I have a few of my own and it has no harmful effects on my health as a few have said in this forum.

I believe that Kuwait will move forward when people are permitted to make more choices for themselves. When you are an adult, you should be able to decide what you think is in your own best interest and if that includes having a tattoo then that should be up to the individual.
I have been in kuwait for a while now and i cant get my head around the fact that where i come from, we never tell muslims, jews, buddists, hindu’s etc etc how to live their lives.
you have the choice to either eat pork, get a tattoo, drink what you like and live where you like (incident where a freind couldnt get residency for his wife because the address listed was in a singles only area…. where in the world?)
Why is it then that when you get to kuwait, you are warned that you need to be covered up and you cant drink or eat pork or do anything else that is deemed “7aram” yet when Kuwaities come to other countries, they can choose whether or not they want to cover up etc.
One more thing, if you arent muslim, then why are you not allowed to go on with your normal business during the fasting period…or go to jail for the duration. Is it perhaps that those who made tose laws do not have the same amount of will power like their muslim brthers and sisters in the rest of the world where people still eat around them and yet they stick to their religious convictions.

Anyway enough about that…i love kuwait.

Well said tattoolover.

However, regarding the fasting period, you have to put in mind that over 33% of Kuwait’s population is obese (higher than the US which is at 30.6%).

So, tattoolover, it’s pretty hard for us to keep our mouths shut for a few hours when we see food in front of us.

Hope you understand where we’re coming from.

πŸ˜‰

Kodder, you are talking out of your ass! If you google circumcisim you will find that it has nothing to do with sexual pleasure one way or the other and in fact in western societies the rate of men getting snipped is increasing year by year as it has been proven to be much more hygenic and safer than not getting circumcised.

q8one… you said “…Or are we a turning into a society where we blindly do as we’re told by religious hypocrites, with out asking any questions nor allowing any other school of thought?”

WHAT? YOU DIDN’T ALREADY KNOW THAT??!

Tattoos are cool, I’m just too scared to get one cos it looks painful. Otherwise I don’t give a shit what anyone thinks!

Sky hock…
Yeah your right.. there might be some people here trying to turn kuwait into the US… with all its civil liberties… but then you forget the dangerous people like you, that are turning kuwait into an Iran or Saudi arabia!!

What kind of A WORLD DO WE LIVE IN WHERE I CANT GET A TATTOO ON MY BODY, BECASE OTHER PEOPLE THINK ITS AGAINST RELIGION.

Tattoos look cool on a select few ( sailors, truckers, rock artistes, avant garde people in theatre, film critics, sculptors, pin up models and ad & media personalities) and hideous, for the most part on others( surgeons, dentists, accountants, architects, lawyers etc). But my real concerns are to do with the risk of transmission of Hepatitis B & C and HIV/AIDS in these individuals getting the tattoos. Tattoo parlours everywhere must be a regulated industry allowing only board certified tattoo artistes the right to tattoo someone.

It’s ok KUWAIT many awesome things are haram don’t let that stop u from enjoying ur life. u can burn a little for it later in the afterlife but what’s a little pain for some fun? it’s not like it will block u from heaven or something.

also tats can make ppl more attractive, like the girl in the pic, if she didn’t have those nice tats she’d just look like this pale plain chick. but with the tats and piercing she looks actually a bit sexy.

tattoo mania if i saw a surgeon with wicked sleeves i would be highly impressed.

also as u can expect, it depends on where u get ur tattoo. if u go to some dingy dungeon in like bangkok then u’d be at risk, however all the parlours i ever been to in the US were highly upstanding establishment with full certifications and health permits.
You just can’t open a shop without meeting strict criteria there BC of the disease risks, their rules are even more strict than hospitals. they use a new needle EVERY time they start, even if it’s on the same person.

Too many retarded comments here but tattoolover you, talented sir, win the idiocy award. Congratulations.

The second one, you are.. a close second. Runners up: Yousef, holla

WOW.. i dont even have the right to question why others disallow me to tattoo my own body, because i would be branded as “retarded”..
Firstly, I hate tattoos.. All that i’m doing is simply highlighting or indicating how, or to what extent our liberties have been eroded by the religious fanatics who wish to slowly turn our beloved country into an extremist state. Controling, or should i say, hijacking our religion whist taking hostage our country, and imposing what laws they see fit by means of trying to prove that it is the Islamic way.
Ladies and gentlemen, you must understand that you cannot force onto others your perticular idiology or “rightious” intensions. Once this is allowed, and the Islamic extremist is given the reigns in which he may put into effect his own laws.. then i’m affraid “Pandora’s Box” will be open, and will be impossible to shut. It will be such a dangerous state of affairs that even the moderate and conservative muslims amongst us will be alarmed and disturbed by their uncontested, unquestioned and manipulative rule.

the second one,

Please try to understand im not try`n to turn my school of thought is not try`n to turn Kuwait into an Iran or Saudi Arabia i disagree with most of what they do … bas i want KUWAIT TO BE KUWAIT and not the US,SAUDI,IRAN.

KUWAIT ALL THE WAY

Tattooing is NOT an American thing ffs, there are lots of ppl in kuwait with tats and it’s still the same.
tats have existed since ancient tribal times and most have deeper meanings than just for style or fashion.

Todays daily example taken from todays kuwaittimes.net

RIYADH: A Bangladeshi man died of fright after being arrested by Saudi Arabia’s controversial religious police for washing a car instead of praying, a local newspaper reported yesterday. The unnamed man died last week in the holy city of Madinah after being detained by members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, Al-Jazirah reported. The Arabic daily said the man “convulsed in fear after he was arrested, leading to a drop in his blood pressure and causing his death”.

The man was arrested by members of the commission, commonly known as the Mutawwa, for washing a car during a time of day when he should have been at prayer, the paper said. The Mutawwa enforce a strict Islamic moral code in the ultraconservative kingdom, and are increasingly being criticised by the public for perceived abuses.

The Mutawwa beat a group of Iraqi pilgrims holding British and US citizenship in the holy city of Makkah, a Saudi Shiite news website said on August 6. The Shiite news website rasid.net said the Mutawwa beat the pilgrims with sticks after accusing them of being “infidels” as they circled the holy Kaaba stone at the Grand Mosque, Islam’s holiest site.

The head of the Muttawa, Ibrahim Al-Ghaith, said the Bangladeshi man “fainted” while being transported in a vehicle and that doctors found no signs of “assault or torture” on his body, Al-Watan newspaper reported. Three commission members and policeman who witnessed the incident were questioned before being completely exonerated, it added.

Complaints about excesses attributed to the 5,000-strong force have become increasingly common in the local press in recent months. The English-language daily Arab News reported last week that a Nigerian convert to Islam was jailed in Riyadh after he helped a sick 63-year-old woman and was then accused by the religious police of immoral behaviour.

Earlier this month, a court acquitted three members of the Mutawwa and a policeman over the death of a man in their custody in the northwestern city of Tabuk. He too had been accused of associating with a woman who was not a relative. The interior ministry issued a decree in May 2006 that aimed to rein in the Mutawwa by requiring them not to interrogate detained suspects, as they had previously done, but to hand them over to the regular police instead.

However, Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz last month defended the Mutawwa, accusing journalists of exaggerating recent abuse allegations. –

Im sure you people know better than to believe everything newspapers report especially the ones in Kuwait and Saudi.
A great deal of it is exaggeration or fabrications.

E.g AlWatan – one of the best selling newspapers reason is that it mastered the art of Fabrications and False accusations and that’s Sells. Just like Al Rai newspaper and TV Channel they use A LOT of sexual related topics and as we all know SEX SELLS LIKE HELL.

well haram… Y? cuz it was related to the image of some bikers and some teens… tatos dont have to be only skulls and “i love some idiot”… its a way of expression, just like a watch or a cool necklace or a pants… its the same as that… something to decorate ur body with it… i think it is art and it should be admired as such…
AND NO IT IS NOT HARMFUL TO UR SKIN…

Mark, they are illegal in Kuwait, however, if you’re interested in a real tattoo, they have parlors in Dubai. I got mine there, and you can trust the place, its clean.

“Kodder, you are talking out of your ass! If you google circumcisim you will find that it has nothing to do with sexual pleasure one way or the other and in fact in western societies the rate of men getting snipped is increasing year by year as it has been proven to be much more hygenic and safer than not getting circumcised.”

Actually, you’re speaking out of your ass. Circumcision is only more hygenic if you’re careless with your body. If you clean and wash yourself daily, then you have 0% risk of infection. It is a useless procedure that severs a piece of skin from our body that we were born with.

Circumcision adds nothing to the body other than sheer convenience of not having to wash your dick as thoroughly, and even then, circumcised men are still washing their dicks. I’m serious, thats all it really is. Convenience. Its on par with cutting your fingernails, or maybe, removing or appendix—except one is life threatening. Guess which one. πŸ˜‰

Its amazing how popular such a backwards practice can be in this day and age. I agree with kodder, its pretty much in the same league as tattooing.

As a tattoo-artist (in Q8), I would like 2 say only one thing.
The tattoo as an art, older than any religion on the earth…
Everybodies own deceison how and what 2 do with his/her own body.

tat2 there is lots of business for you here amoungst the expat comunity… we just need a way to contact you, seperate email or something.

ayshay – you dont sound like you are mentally old enough to get a tattoo anyway…you need to be over 18 in most countries. You are the real idiot here cause you make a statement without anything to back what you are trying to say. That is of course if you had something deeper to say.
You and your kind is exactly the reason why kuwait is still so backward… and you are allowing those kuwaitees that have brains and forward thinking to be painted with the same brush as you. GET OUT FROM UNDER THAT ROCK

tattolover – i know that but i have to be very very careful…
Some details about the tattoo. I had 2 make a school to become a tattoo artist, i had to study art, design, sterilizing, anathomy to get the knowhow.
I had very serious exams to get the certification.
These days most of the artists are using disposable needles, rubbers and pipes. The cleaning stuff is the same what the doctors are using in the hospitals. The (quality)inks are made out of flowerpowder (magnetism, x-ray effect whatever is bullshit), 100% natural and clean. The manufacturers are giving there certificates next to it. Anybody can ask from his/her tattooer. If there is any quality problem comes with those inks, the company give a warning letter to don’t use that product.(This happened with me) Ich color has a serial number and production number.
The rest…. the first thing is the trust. don’t make a tattoo if U don’t like the tattooguy, if the place is not clean, if the procedure is not going well (the guy nervous, etc.) Don’t trust when the guy is saying this is permanent, after 6-7 month it will desappear. Not true! Only in cosmetic business are using desappearing ink, but that is not good for artwork!!!!!!!
The tattoo is forever! Think about it, don’t make it if are not sure! Never do tattoo under influence of alcohol or drugs. Most of the tattoo artists will refuse U…

Actually, there are no legitimate health reasons. There has never been a case of HIV/AIDS linked to tattoos, and the last Hep case linked to a tattoo was over 50 years ago.

People ban tattoos because of moral reasons, and then lie why they banned them. It’s dumb– it only hurts the person getting the tattoo and is in not way harmful to anyone else– so why ban it? Everyone should be free to express themselves.

i had a burnt marks and couldn’t wear t-shirts cause i was having inferiority problem.now i have done a big tattoo and can wear T-shirt not only that i also go swimming pool with proud .it is better then the Burnt mark i had b4.

Recently I was given a phone number for a local tatoo artist here in Q8. I’ve seen some of his work on other Expat’s. I can’t wait to get another tatoo and having it done here really makes it one of a kind for me. There are very few Expat’s under the age of 35 that do not have ink. This type of self expression is so acceptable now a days.

Dear All

I am trying to get a Tattoo for a while now and I couldnt find the artist who can make it, so please if you know anyone, send me his contacts on email [email protected]. Ill appreciate it
