Was supposed to open on 20th, changed the date to 25th…
I know carrefour is opening tomo.. Couple of their suppliers has been given today as the deadline so they can open up tomo….
I been trying to tell you for the past week now, Avenues in complete is not going to open before the 1st week of March. I was there and there still is a lot of construction going on. Somebody prominent over there told me there was at least 2 weeks of work remaining plus people from baladiya still have to show up and give them the go ahead to open.
Want some more info? Avenues is going to face the same “Echoe” problem Marina faces in the dome. Apparently Marina and Avenues had a way to solve this issue, but they both decided not to pay extra for it.
I passed by it this afternoon and there was no signs which says WE ARE OPEN :>
I met a guy who works for Al Shayer at the weekend. I also met the guy who is looking after Gap and Banana Republic. They both said that the new ‘likely’ date is 10th March.
Isn’t ‘Go Sport’ open already ? They were to open by Feb 20th….

the echoes. have u been there when its crowded? sounds like ur surrounded by flies. apparently construction company could have added tweeters (i think thats what eh called them) to cut off the echoes but marina didn’t pay extra. when i was in avenues i realized they too will have the same echoeing issue, and also they decided to cut costs by not installing the “tweeters”
nothing ever opens on time in this country
at the rate they are going, i doubt they will open before april,,, and even then will be a SOFT launch
come on guys… you all know the hold-up is because the World Coffee Society turned down Kuwait’s application for the delivery of more coffee for the damned saturation of the coffee shop market. Without 50% of floor space dedicated to f*cking coffee, no commercial enterprise is viable in Kuwait. Without a Starbucks, Costa, Caribou, Second Cup, Columbus…. how will these places survive?
oh yeah, i forgot my point. it’s just going to be another bunch of franchised stores that are closing down elsewhere in the world, and a lot of coffee shops.
so don’t sweat it. it’s not worth waiting with such excitement for a mediocre event.

In washington d.c , they claimed that the new stores will open late september , then october then early november then at the end of january then early feb and finally they opened in september 2006 … my point is that its really difficult to have deadlines with so many things going on at the same time.
Btw every mall in virgina maryland looks exactly the same and has the exact same stores. thats what franchises is all about nothing special .
its gonna be full with the people of that area…

boody ,, my friend just came from bahrain and she asked the pranch forever21 there about avenus and they said yes they will open it here and it will be the biggest branch in the middle east 😀
