Two Day Weekends Starting October

thts so lame… u hav a tottally off day on friday and a half day on saturday…. y cant they jus stick to thursday nd friday

Well that means that for those that had Saturdays off, will have to suffer with traffic and congestion like its Friday :S

What? Where did this decision come from? Do you mean official government weekends or just for your job?

so for the private sector, it’s just going to be half day friday and one day off saturday? 6-day weekdays r kool d00d

Yea, It’s been done in the complete middle east, only some places left. Read about it in the newspaper.

I wrote about this last week on my blog. I’m totally for unifying the weekend to Fri/Sat for the whole country instead of this half-assed weekend we have now.

BUT… it should be planned for in advance and not just sprung on an unsuspecting population, and in the middle of Ramadan too!

As for traffic.. It’s bad all week, you won’t feel the difference!

Weird… no news about this on KUNA’s site. I searched for “weekend”, no results. Nothing on The Kuwait Times either.

I think the change would just effect the goverment sector. Private sector would probably still have thursday as a half day and friday off. Earlier this week, I think I read in Arab Times that Friday has to be a day off coz its a day of praying or something. They’d be fuckin stupid if they give us a full day off on friday and then a half day on saturday.

I wasn’t suggesting that your information is incorrect, I know how shitty the Kuwaiti news sites are.

this is the smartist thing ever happen in Kuwait in a while. if you want to sleep then you can sleep, whether its thursday or saturday. don’t be baby about it.
the good thing is… imagine you want to deal with a company abroad. offices in Kuwait close on thursday and friday. so you can’t have anything done (-2 days). the companies you’re trying to contact don’t work on sat and sunday (-4 days). all what you’re left with is monday, tuesday and wednesday. and if you had some papers at the ministry to complete… those that get in on wednesday probably wont finish until next sunday (if they did not lose them).

For years kuwait was operating fine, why now all the changes anyway

They’re going to make the weekends on Saturday and Sunday in Kuwait. If you want to take Fridays off, you have to get an excused absence from the religious guy of the mosque you attend.

actually man, i think its true and it will be implemented. dont know when but even the government offices are considering switching their thursday for saturday.

I was just talking to my Imaraty friend and she says that the official weekend for UAE and Qatar is Friday and Saturday. Those are the two countries that changed the weekends and its because they said that they are losing 2 days of work cuz offices in Europe dont work Sat. and Sun. and we here dont work Thurs. and Fri. and so thats 4 days of work lost.
Its a good idea but i think its tough. We’re all used to Thurs. and Fri. and Fri. is the Holy Day so that cant change..

no guys i dont think so then will change the weekends timings.as they are used to have off on thursday and friday.
