KUWAIT CITY: A furore broke out at the Kazma Football Club recently following a football match between the Kazma and Qadsiya Clubs when some football fans mobbed two “provocatively” dressed women, reports Al-Watan daily. The scanty clothes of the two girls, who had reportedly come to watch the match, instigated some youth present there to molest them, say sources. It took the intervention of securitymen to bring the situation under control, they add, indicating “some of the youths were taken to the police station.” Many people, however, protested that the fault actually lay with the girls whose manner of dressing was “against custom and tradition and even against the Islamic sharia.” Questions now remain as to where the organizers were and why the girls were allowed to enter the stadium? – Arab Times

Firstly I didn’t censor the pictures with a black marker, the newspaper did. Secondly I am curious to know what these two girls were thinking. You wouldn’t wear what they were wearing to Marina Mall yet alone a stadium filled with thousands of male teens. Even if the two girls were over dressed they would still have gotten harassed! Maybe they figured whatever, they were going to get harassed anyways so might as well make the most of it. You hear a lot about incidents like this that happening all over Kuwait but this is the first time I see pictures attached to a story.

Asking for trouble, or what!!!?? Would like to know what they were thinking. However, I have lived here for 20 years and ‘dressing appropriately/conservatively’ is a thing of the past!!! I love the way the first instinct is to blame the women. It is a true testament to our society. I would like to see where in Islam or in any form of a code of ethics it says that if someone dresses in an inappropriate way then it is ok to molest them?! I find it sickening that men in our culture/religion cannot control themselves – that is the part that is un-Islamic and that is the part that needs to be studied. It is the same old argument used by rapists all the time – “She asked for it.” You trully think God condones rape and molestation in these cases??? Disgusting behavior.

In the Arab world, going to a football game is mostly a guys’ activity. Dressing like that in a stadium full of teenage boys is either extremely dumb or actually asking for it.

Well think about it, even Kuwaiti girls look like clowns at Mall with all the makeup they cake on and how they dress. Lets buy the most expensive outfit and wear it once. OK, first of all – you live in a desert and your government babies you by giving you money. Its all about image in Kuwait and following tradition, believe me Kuwait is going to get a wake up call one day. I am so glad that I will never go back to that country.
its just the back of their bra straps. It is provocative: it provoked the thought that they are wearing bra’s and they are girls and have breasts. They think that anyways, just now they know the colour of the bra. Pretty much sums up how those guys at the stadium were thinking. who the hell cares if you find them hot or not, I personally feel they look like skanks. Someone saw something in them and caused enough of a scene to make it to the papers (with pictures I might add). dwelling into how the girls were thinking, they definitely did it to get the attention, people who live in Kuwait know how it works … girls know it from a very very young age. Ok, I know this is an old post but I just stumbled on here. In my opinion, I agree with some of the others here.. why the hell are the girls always getting blamed for cat-calling and inappropriate behavior from the guys? I mean, come on we live in the 21st century. Kuwait is becoming westernized.. not everybody is adhering to Islam, it’s a matter of personal choice. Just because tradionalists and society think it’s not right, face it- change is coming. It came during the Gulf War, it came when the Americans took over Kuwait, it came when girls started dying their hair platinum blond, it came when you saw homosexuals and transvestites walking freely in the streets, and girls scantily dressed in bikinis at the beach. I mean you see guys riding their motorbikes on Gulf Road with their shirts flying in the wind and their boxes so low that you can see their buttcracks! I didn’t ask to see that either. So, why is this any different? A girl just wants to live. If they wanna go to a football match like they think they’re in Europe, then why are they taking all the smack for guys who can’t control their own sexual urges? If they’re frustrated, they need to get married or go home to their wives instead of spending all day at dewaniya. I have to say though, they do look cheap. Number one fashion mistake: don’t show the bra, unless it’s a fashion statement where it’s peeking out at front (and that’s hard to do).

This is a normal dress in europe, even if u wanna walking in the street, u can see too many girls wearing like this, i think they (girls in the picture) are in wrong time & wrong place. If anybody has problem with this style of dressing i think it backs directly to his/her culture. Certainly u can not find any culture in arab countries.
