Update Your Civil ID Name Online

Back in February, the Ministry of Interior decided to cancel the use of residency stickers inside passports. Instead, you need to have a valid Civil ID card when traveling as a means of verifying your residency.

The name on the Civil ID card has to match your name in your passport or you’ll risk being denied travel in or out of Kuwait. But, having your name misspelled on the Civil ID is a pretty common issue and my previous post on how to fix your name constantly gets comments from people with similar issues.

But now the Ministry has issued a statement that they will no longer correct spellings at PACI but instead, all requests must now be made online. They even have a dedicated section now for misspellings.

So if you need to fix the spelling of your name on your Civil ID, click here.

That’s not what the article says (just read the article title for a clue), the article says PACI is no longer doing the changes because you can now do it online.

Oh yeah my bad, I took this other way round, hehe. infact one of my friend got rejection as he was applying online and asking to visit in person. thought its link with this. :))

Not me, but I have heard conflicting reports.

A friend who’s residency was renewed before March 10, 2019 was asked for it, while another wasn’t.

Not sure why the inconsistency in implementation.

What do you do in this case?
The name on my civil ID in Arabic has my fathers name. Whereas the English name on the civil ID is what it is on the passport.
Should that be fine?
Or do I need to change the Arabic name on the civil ID to the one on the passport

Same case with me. I had an error with the english name and got the print from PACI with both English and Arabic correct. However, my civil id card had my full name plus fathers full name. Now I don’t know whether that will be an issue while travelling? Anyone else having similar issues?

No way. After all these years of them dissecting my name, adding letters & removing letters as they want, i can finally have my real name in english back?

Same issues with my civil id, i recently called PACI the agent told me that its okay to travel, but i am not convince, still with many what ifs, company also told me its okay to travel. Is there someone who travel with same issues and permitted to travel in and out of Kuwait? Thanks

What to do?
Recently, i have my civil id with my passport number and it will expire on march 2020.

But since i renewed my passport this week, do i need to update the civil id with my new passport number or can wait till the next civil id renewal??
No plan for traveling outside anyway.

Thanks

When trying to process the request, the website says “You can not update your latin name, because there is no issuance request for the civil id”

Does this mean that an expat can only update his/her name’s spelling only after renewing residency for the next time?

What about those travelling this summer?

This is not new. The feature is there for more than a month now. A couple of thing to note:
¡) As per my understanding, you need to have a civil id. request in the system to correct the name. The request is auto generated when you renew the residence/ make some corrections in the residence info.
¡¡) Using the name correction facility delays the civil id. generation, since it needs to be checked & corrected by someone manually. So if you are in a hurry to travel, don’t use it.
¡¡¡) The faster way of correcting the latin name is the passport office (MOI) itself. Now the civil id info is linked to your residence info. Make an application & correct the name in the residence page. Pay 5 KD online for the new civil id. & you will get the new one with correct details on 1-2 days.

In my case, the English name was spelling was misspelled at first and corrected as per passport. and I got a print from PACI with correct English and Arabic name. Whereas when I got the civil id, my Arabic name has my father’s full name which shouldn’t be there.
Will this be a problem while traveling?

How can I do this correctly? I’ve entered my civil ID number and the serial number on the back of the card as per what’s needed on the page – but then there’s a message in red that says that there’s no current requests for a new card or something like that.

What I need to to is to just correct my English/Latin name to match the one in my passport in PACI’s records… but I do not need a new card. When I renew my residency in a few month from now; I want my new card then to be issued with the corrected name… not now.

Can I do this? can anyone help?

Thanks.

For everyone that is not being allowed to update online, here is how I got it done today (my wife’s name was spelled wrong):

Photo copies
1. Take photo copies of civil ID and passport (husband and wife)

Jawazat
2. Go to the jawazat and go to their computer section (Al hasi al ali or something) – you might have to take a token number (we had people in line that were asked to take three different types of token numbers, but in the end the person just told everyone to que up regardless of tokens)
3. Tell them at the computer section that the name is spelled wrong and you want to change it
4. They will scan your passport and give you one print out (and perhaps will also tell you that you can go to the PACI – do not go with this print out to PACI, you will have to come back again for another print out)
5. As soon as you get the first print out, you will receive and SMS to make a KD 5 payment. Make that payment and ask the guy at the computer section for another print out
6. They will give you a print out that will include the following at the bottom “PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL DETAILS ARE ACCORDING TO THE PASSPORT ESPECIALLY NAME AND PASSPORT NUMBER”
Do not leave the jawazat without the print out mentioned in 6.

PACI
7. Go to the main area (not to the area on the right where the civil ID vending machines are)
8. Get a token number (tell them that you want to change name spelling)
9. There are separate counters for individuals and corporate. While you could get tokens from either window, the corporate window guy could ask you to que up in the line for the individuals window. You can try your luck though as the corporate window has a much smaller que compared to the individual line.
10. Wait for your token number in the main lobby.
11. Once your number is announced you can go inside to the respective counter and submit the print out you got from the Jawazat along with the photo copies of the civil ID and passport
12. They will give you a receipt print out for submitting the application

Online
12. After submitting the application, go online to the following site:
https://www.e.gov.kw/sites/kgoenglish/Pages/eServices/PACI/CivilIDRenewal.aspx#

13. Enter the civil ID number and make the payment for 250 fils for the envelope

DONE
Your civil ID should hopefully be ready in 2-3 working days

We went to the jawazat in Mishref at 7.30am
The whole process could be done in around 2 hrs
It took us around 4 hours though since we had to go back to the jawazat for printout mentioned in point 6. They gave us the first print out and told us that we could go to PACI.

The process is pretty simple and hassle free. Just involves some waiting in ques.

I tried updating the name online twice now by submitting my passport copy online and it has gotten worse and worse.

Sigh..

Is the service unavailable for Kuwaitis?

My name is completely fabricated on the civil ID although they had my passport copy at the time of renewals..

From the comments I realized that it is not “online” at all. You’ll have to go to PACI or somewhere else to do it.

Not online.

I tried updating but it got worse and now Iam facing an issue.

Due to the difference in my new name as per civil id and passport I had to undergo fingerprinting at Mishref and now they are saying at Mishref to collect the paper from fingerprinting after two days.

Transaction Status displays “Your Transaction Was accepted and Civi Id was issued.”

After I paid 5 KD to PACI after I received their message on my registered number. Its been more than a week Still PACI website displays Civil ID Status – “Civil ID card is still being processed, please try again within one week”.
And in PACI website Civil ID renewal – ” We have successfully updated your residency information and there is no need to visit PACI for this purpose.

There’s no timeline to receive a new civil ID.

Just want to know how many weeks, months or year’s is required just for a name change because my surname is repeated twice in civil ID and it’s not my fault. I had to cancel my flight ticket because of this problem in Kuwait.

How can we check civil id name in English before printing ?
Any way we can check name before payment of 5 kd
Please suggest
Thanks in advance,
