Personally I believe there is alot of lax standards when it comes to proper safety procedures in Kuwaiti weddings especially in tent setups.
Some that I have seen had no proper fire equipment or basic procedure. Alot of them being designed to funnel people in choke points (e.g. entrance for guests being greeted) and massive tangles of electrical wiring and huge lamp lights.
I dont understand whats so special in tent. Why dont these people get married in 5 star hotel halls or any luxurious marriage hall…
It does happen in apartments due to terrible electrical wiring- I had a fire in my kitchen because of a loose wire that ‘dripped’ melted plastic in the hot oil…….

This is terrible. Those tents are a fire hazard of the highest proportion. I understand it’s a cultural thing – but the government should step up and put restrictions/regulations to control this.
Is it so hard to have multiple openings in what is essentially cloth?

I think the Government should build Community Halls for such events complete with all modern amenities. This will certainly reduce such accidents. Its very difficult to digest the fact that innocent children have died due to no fault of theirs.
Nand there are a lot of community halls in Kuwait, but the problem as I think that they are not big enough for such big wedding especially in Jahraa.
Cajie- Al Mansouri the chief fire officer said there were tents with multiple exits and saftey standards provided for such events, but probably someone just hired a tent from a local supplier without thinking there would be such a tragedy.
Nand there are halls in every area in Kuwait for weddings, but the tradition and culture of the area , Jahra, usually they use tents.
its sad to hear that top generals dont dare say that there was no safety concern at all when setting up the tent afraid of a harsh bedoiun response, thats one reason kuwait cant progress, its a tragic event, but God created us with brains and we have to face reality, and they should address the cause of the fire, and not say its not important we just hope God puts them in heaven, another tragic event like this will happen if the govt is to scared to address basic safety issues, and stop worrying that the people are kill them or something
Once in the past a man went with his camel to the mosque to pray and decided not to tie it outside, and when he went out was shocked to see that his camel had ran away, thinking how that could have happenend when i went to pray, he was later told that you should put your faith with God but use your brain in the process

This is tragic indeed. There must be a licenses for tents with proper safety setups such as clear exits, fireextinguishers and good electrical setups. Unlicensed operations must be severely punished.

I believe that they were forced to celebrate the wedding in a tent since these “Marriage Halls” are always used and maybe they can’t afford a 5 Star Hotel.

there is also talks that it was an arson crime….they said that the husband first wife had threatened to kill the 2nd wife if she married her husband….the crim scene indicates that as well….the fire was on all four sides of the tent and there was benzene….this is so sad

This was a terrable tragedy to be sure. It was many different things that went wrong which ended in tragedy. But, the two words “Kuwait” and “Safety” just do not mix. I don’t think safety is spoken by any government official and that is a huge problem!
Its an unfortunate tragedy, one filled with human emotions. The saddest bit is that innocent lives are affected in such a horrific manner. Can’t blame anyone here. The perp is a victim of a crime of passion. Come on people, before judging her, try and think how many times you have drunk dialed your ex. This is just what it was. She just made a dumb decision and for sure she didnt intent to cause harm to innocent lives. It could easily happen to anyone of us.
She’s a mum, a jilted lover, a wronged wife. Sure society has rules where this can happen. But its such a sad system, which allows women to be wronged all the time. Love and Marriage make fools of us all.
