There is a HUGE plot of land right across the street from the Green Island and right adjacent to all the embassies on the Gulf Road. Recently they removed all the greenery on that land and demolished all the structures. They’ve basically flattened out the land in preparation for construction and are now in the process of putting up a temporary wall around the plot. It’s the huge block of land I’ve highlighted in the image above. Does anyone have any idea what they’re going to be building there? Here is the location on [Google Maps]
Update: Turns out its going to be a huge real estate project called “Balamlaq” that will transform that plot of land into an area that will contain residential and commercial buildings, hotels, parks and entertainment facilities. It’s being handled by KIPCO who are aware of how unique and rare this plot of space is which is why they’re going to be setting an example with the high level of planning and construction. So thankfully it’s not a new giant food complex. For more information click [Here]

that was quick thanks!
Another mall !!! To join the stack of malls in kuwait
If you actually read what it says you’d learn its not another mall.
it is going to be a mixed use project, residential and commercial. There will be restaurants strip opposite to the embassies road.
That’s actually good news. it’s a private company with good design sense, so they will finish on time and add some flavor to this ugly road leading to Sharq!
LOL Balamlaq!
The the developer is describing the project as gigantic, which is Emlaq in Arabic.
So wait is that not the name? I copy pasted the name from the source I linked to but couldn’t find it anywhere else.
There is no name for it yet as per the Arabic source.
I think it’s code-named “Project Deiya.”
They named it after an Indian movie lol.
This land is just opposite all those embassies and every time I visit the embassy, wish that they had developed some part of this land into a parking.
It would have definitely avoided all the congestion in that area.
KIPCO bought that land in auction three years ago from the heirs of Sh Khalid Al Ahmed AlSabah. It was the biggest land deal in Kuwaiti history.
Forgot to mention the price: KD 190 million
Do you happen to know how Khalid Alahmad got the land? Was it some sort of a grant?
He must have sat on it many years ago and said this is my land.
Don’t know him btw
Thanks for highlighting Mark.
It would be nice if someone could throw some light on the names of the Consultant and the Contractor of the project and do keep us updated till we get a Sneak peek of the Project Signage.
