Back in May I posted that Q8Books, the used books store was closing down. Well since then a lot of things have happened. Q8Books did in fact close down but all the books were purchased by Fajer the lawyer and she’s moved the bookstore into a much larger location in Salmiya. She’s bringing back Q8Books and it’s going to be better than ever. The new location is at Bayt Lothan and it’s around four times the size of the older location.
The bookshop is nearly done and Fajer is planning to relaunch it sometime next week. Once it’s officially open I’ll have her post about it with more details including information on how you can donate books and on the bookstore’s outreach project to support a library in Gambia. For now you can follow them on Instagram to see what they’re up to @q8bookstore

thats AMAZING! Im so happy it isnt closed! great job Fajer
TIL lawyers are loaded.
Anyone who keeps bookstores alive gets big points in my book. I’ll make sure to buy there. Well Done!
Great news! Looking forward to a visit.
It looks absolutely gorgeous really! I can find myself spending more time there!!! And it feels more welcoming than before.. Awesome sauce! π
Awesome but I guess ‘better than ever’ is a matter of perspective. Bayt Lothan – dare I say clientele change?
yes it is a matter of perspective, because Jacobs store was seriously my fav place in Kuwait, things will change but I am trying to keep his amazing policies as much as possible.
and yes possible clientele change, but I welcome all (and so do my lovely interns :))
Will Jacob still be around?
Nice thingy , I will surely visit it .
Try to take a look for https://jamalon.com/
It contains good books with normal prices but the shipping and Cash on Delivery costs more than the books itself .
What I really liked about it is it can ship you banded books π
Very cool.
Now that’s what a book shop should look like! Esther’s attic/Operation Hope opens up soon, we sell used books there as well but you will have to beat the crazy lady from Better Books to get the best ones. The ex-owner of Q8 books used to come every weekend to pick up some books and helps out our charity as well.
the ex-owner Jacob is amazing, and we will both be supporting you, and promise to come in soon. hearts.
@crazyinkuwait is right. Operation HOPE does offer gently used books through its ” reuse” boutique Esther’s Attic where books are available to the community in exchange of a humble and minimal cash donation. These cash donations are utilised towards our various toilteries and winter warmth endeavours through the year aimed towards serving the basic needs of domestics in distress.
@ Fajer : thank you for your continued support.
Finally, been waiting months for this.
btw Mark , what’s ur fav book ?
So proud of Fajer! Such an amazing woman who not only follows her dreams, but achieves them.
thanks π
Do you sell new non-used books as well? and is there a section for it?
Thank you everyone for the support π
will the prices of books be same?
…and all of this happened after we left Kuwait???..I am gonna miss this too
Jacob used to have this offer where if you didnβt like the book you purchased you can trade it for another one, provided that the book still looks decent. He was able to order hard-to-find books for customers too. Is this still possible in the new bookshop? I hope so.. cus thatβs what made q8books special from the rest.
Wonderful news. Bring back the cultured Kuwait of the 60s & 70s! Bravo Fajer π
Good call Fajer.
Will soon be my favorite place to visit
Yaaay! A million million thanks to you, Fajer.. may you have many more brilliant ideas! π
Wow this is truly great. Well done Fajer!
@ Fajer Ahmed
I have more than 250 novels from 70s, 80s and 90s and most of them are labelled as “best sellers”. do you take it??
