It is such an inspirational song, it makes you believe that the world is a really good place and anything can happen. Unfortunately, it really isnt. One day it will be, thank you for the post Mark. I hope readers look at it as more of a message to the world, than just as a song.
Peace

This video brings tears to my eyes! If only we could go back to 1985 and have those moments all over again! The world seemed to be at a better place in 1985! If only we had known what we really had back then! Thanks Mark for the great video!

your welcome, check out the making of the video also. There are several of them out there…all good stuff.

It’s not a comeback moodhi, it was just an observation. I am hopeful that the planet will probably fix itself eventually, but only after humans become extinct for obvious reasons.

Try to have a little faith in the human race, you can be surprised to see what they are capable of doing. You never know…

Hey, if the nearly $1 Billion dollars in revenue earned from this song WE ARE THE WORLD went to Africa Famine relief as it was intended for, WHEN did this happen. I read about 7 years ago that NONE of the money went out and that it is still in a bank account somewhere where the writers of the song get the interest from the account. Something about political red tape preventing them from helping the people in Africa. Is this true? Did this change? Did they finally use the money for charity. If so, when and where? No one stopped to track where this money went. Everybody just assumed that the money went where we were all told it would go. Wouldn’t this level of charity going to Africa relief have shown some serious, serious change and made the news OFTEN? Where did all these proceeds/revenues from the song really go? This song is still raking in the dow.

Michael Jackson is said to have given to the most amounts of charities but he is not in the books for having given the most. Just for spreading what he did contribute around the most.

BTW – Dan Akroyd was one of the BLUES BROTHERS and they were very popular around the time of the video.

Actually, no. John Belushi had been dead for several years at that point. The Blues Brothers were not popular at the time, because there were no Blues Brothers. Even so, Belushi did most of the singing, not Akroyd.

Oh! Really! How Sweet. I saw a documentory that filmed what really happened to all the money. They forced a tribe of about 99 people to move the whole village on foot to a “better location” Some died on th long trek, some got sick. The were hearded like cattle, The guy also filmed the party that the royal people threw in honor of the participents of WE ARE THE WORLD , It was a huge banquet, starving people were reaching threw the bars of the palace grounds, trying to get a handful of food, it was disgusting, I remember that the camera went down to show the high class expensive shoes this man was wearing they all had expensive silk robes on they spent all the money on the banquet and parade that followed, I never heard about this camera man again, what happened to him is unclear, did he too take a portion of the money to shut up or is he pushing up daisies too,I give my money directly to someone that I know needs help, Turned me againest those crooks!!! And that’s what really happened I saw the video with my own eyes, not hearsay, I saw the suffering they endured during that life threatening move,It was like when we forced the Indians onto reservations.Watchout who you give money to,So many crooks,so many needy people, what should we do??? Tar and feathering comes to mind, Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, I’m glad I did this blog, it’s my 1st one
