Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Banned in Kuwait (confirmed)

Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been banned in Kuwait and so will not be available to download here. Everyone who preordered the game will be getting the order canceled and refunded. Activision released the following statement:

At this time, the title will not be available for release in the region. As a result, all pre-orders in Kuwait will be cancelled and refunded to the original point of purchase. We remain hopeful that local authorities will reconsider, and allow players in Kuwait to enjoy this all-new experience in the Black Ops series. source

The Gulf War setting of the game is likely to be the reason for the ban. But, it’s kinda weird since the game hasn’t come out yet so doubt whoever banned it locally got an early release to evaluate the contents. When a movie gets banned it’s usually after screening, Black Ops 6 is getting banned before screening. So maybe once the game is out and the game is screened they will unban it. For now I guess you can download the game if you have a US account which is what I have, or purchase it next time you’re abroad.

I actually wasn’t interested in the game nor did I realize it was Gulf War related until the ban, but now I’m totally getting it. The game is released on October 25 worldwide.

update: Turns out I don’t even need to buy it since it will be available from day 1 as part of the Xbox Game Pass membership.

I forgot to mention that what I meant was that it’s removed from official Kuwait PC Gamepass. Xbox Gamepass is not offered in Kuwait officially.

yes correct, thats why I mentioned in the post I have a US account. generally I prefer to buy the physical copy of the game because its cheaper and I’ll own it, but will have to make do with a digital download this time.

Hey Mark. It really saddens me that some dickhead at one of Kuwait’s ministries (Probably the MOCI or the Ministry of Information that censors movies, who knows though) thought it was a good idea to indefinitely ban a good FPS game (Found it out through gameranx) set during the Ba’athist Iraq invasion while there’s 2009 COD MW2 where you can shoot people at an airport and Cyberpunk 2077 where sex scenes exist, and yet the latter 2 aren’t banned. Rant over. I played Arsenal on Roblox and got reminded of how fun FPSs are (I previously played COD WWII on PS4 and I remember having fun in multiplayer until one day my PS Plus subscription ended and couldn’t play multiplayer). I have a PC and I want to play BO6 but now, with the ban, my only option is an account from G2A (In G2A you can buy an account that has the game that you want; You can buy Steam accounts, PS Network accounts, and Xbox accounts from G2A); There’s probably a copy of BO6 in Al Rehab but, once again, I have a PC and not a PS5. and, meanwhile, I’m not sure I can buy on Steam using VPN because I don’t have a foreign bank card like you have (Btw did you pay travel expenses and applied for a US bank card? Or is there an easier and cheaper way? I saw your F1 TV blog). I’m about to buy a Steam account with BO6 from G2A, so hopefully I don’t get scammed and the account from G2A works without restrictions.
