Kuwait has 3rd Highest Hotel Prices in the World

hotelprices

According to an index compiled by Bloomberg, Kuwait is amongst the most expensive markets for hotel rooms coming in third place behind Geneva and Dubai. The reason behind the high prices is mostly likely because land is so expensive in Kuwait and the fact that there are a limited number of hotels. Still, it would feel pretty odd to pay so much more for a hotel here than one in London, New York or Miami. Check out the article [Here]

Kuwait’s hotel market mostly consists of upper-upscale and luxury hotels in the five-star range; the Jumeirah, JW Marriott, Symphony Style (former Hotel Missoni), Radisson Blu, Hilton, Sheraton are but a few. If each of these hotels charge around 85 KWD a night, that comes out to a cool 299.72 USD.

The branded economy market is currently only represented by the Ibis hotels in Salmiya and Sharq; other options are locally-based or independently-owned but even then they’re too few compared to the abundance of more upscale hotels in the country.

dud I went to Marriott in Turkey and it costs 25 kd per night
some cheap motels in kuwait can costs that much or even higher !! and kuwait isn’t a touristic destination

Well we have the most expansive land prices of the world, none business lands costs half a million KD in ton of areas for 375m (business land would cost much more) so it’s expected honestly

The prices are inflated though, our land prices shouldn’t be this high. We use less than 10% of the landmass of Kuwait ffs

Five star hotel prices are expensive today because they are part of the Kuwaiti hotel union.
The unions sets the minimum price per night. That way the hotels don’t compete with each other on price.

A hotel would need a land costing a minimum of 2 million kd

+ they need to buy building space from the government wiith prices starting at 300 kd per meter

a small 1000m hotel would need to buy 4000 meters , nearly 1.25 million kd.

2+1.5+ building costs ( nearly 1 million)+ operating costs , most likely it’s going to be a 5 star or high class hotel to cover its costs 😛

most of the hotels here where built ages ago, when land was cheap and they have had there capital back. and come on they can get the land from the gov. for really cheap price.
prices are set , no competition .
what else ohhh yes the market here in Kuwait love things to be over priced, if its not over priced and affordable for all then no one will buy it cause he cant show off with it.
