Ministry of Communications (MOC) prepares to undergo the largest privatization process in its history after a proposal has been already made to privatize the mail sector, long distance calls and landlines and their infrastructure, Undersecretary Hameed Al-Qattan said. Qattan added that the once established, the Telecom and Information Technology Authority would be responsible for offering those services for privatization.
Once those projects see the light, the MOC would only be responsible for marine transportations, he said. [Source]
I hope this means we’ll finally have a proper mail service.

That signage in the picture itself looks like its been there from the 70s.
No kidding, that’s just how behind the mail service has been. When my parents came here in the 70s there was a project to overhaul the mail system even back then, but it lost funding when a minister said there was no way Kuwait’s population would get large enough for the infrastructure to be necessary.
Yes please, regular mail delivered to our homes and not just to P.O. Boxes.
Once the packages arrives at the new airport, the mail men can use the metro to deliver them to our houses
Umm you most definitely meant mailwomen!
loloooooooooooo Amen
Well said…
Joke of the year “metro”
Joke of the decade “New airport”
the joke of the century “mail women” ?:D
Joke of the millennium “mail”
The real joke is the whole privatisation thing going on. What next privatising the Ministry of Health? Why is the government prostituting itself to big money (Tijar) ? Any government institutions can achieve funding within the public sector if needed. Don’t sell Kuwait.
It’s complicated though. While this could have really bad long term consequences, the government has clearly shown that over decades they haven’t been able to fix some pretty basic things.
Quickest real world example – look at the speed of mobile internet vs. Landlines here. Nowhere else in the world is the average mobile speed like, 4 times the speed at least of a landline. But one is government infrastructure and the other is handled mostly by private companies.
Or look at how many people prefer to go to private hospitals vs public, or the state of Kuwait Airways.
“Don’t sell Kuwait” only works if the tijar aren’t doing a much better job at running Kuwait
Does this also mean, Post will be super duper expensive?
