My Loulwah

Last month I posted about an emergency lane tragedy where a mum lost her 4-month old child to a speeding motorist. The mum had pulled over into the emergency lane because of a problem with her car when a driver who was speeding in the emergency lane crashed into them. The mum has now written about the tragedy in the Kuwait Times. You can read her article [Here]

God, that article made me so emotional. I cant even comprehend the pain she must be going through. Praying that God gives her and her family to overcome this. I really hope that the rules change regarding the Emergency lane usage.

This was so difficult to read without tearing up. As a mother, what happened to Farah was dreadful and unimaginable. I wish her peace and comfort during this difficult time. Maybe it is time for this rule to change….something for everyone to ponder on.

i am so incredibly sorry for your loss… thank you so much for taking the time, especially during such a difficult time in your life, to write about this and highlight an issue that should have been addressed a long long time ago. this is such a horrible price to pay for change, and it fills me with so much anger that it had to come to this but i know this will not be in vain because you have demonstrated immense strength coming forward with your story and i know you will not back down.

i am praying for you and your family.

Farah,
I truly applaud your strength in writing this beautiful article. I sincerely hope and pray that it resonates throughout Kuwait and pushes for a change. I wish it did not have to come at such a price. May God grant you, your family, and most of all little Loulwah peace.

My deepest, most sincere condolences.. I couldn’t read it all, feeling your pain with every word… I wish you strength, courage, and I hope one day, soon enough, you find peace in your heart, somehow, and joy again.

The law must be changed and safety must become a priority. It’s disgusting how no one is accountable for anything here.

Really sorry to hear about her loss but did she stop on the left or right lane? It is very dangerous to stop on the left lane. I think the correct rule is to stop on the right lane if you need to check your car but the loss already happened. May we all be protected from becoming the victim or the accused.

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

Just out of curiosity… why do people belive only right lane is an emergency lane? Then what is the left “emergency” lane?
I’m pretty sure there is no law stating that. But yet again, I could be wrong.

Oh, so it is a mentality and not law. That answers my doubts.
I hope the driver doesn’t use this as a defense on court

The speed limit for the emergency lane is 45km/h however the drivers take it for granted and show off that their car runs faster.

Every time, I take the highway in Kuwait, I pray for no traffic because as soon as there is traffic, I start the Panic mode…. Will he/she stop in time. People have no respect to any law or anyone, they are going to miss winning the Million KD for not playing with their mobile phone or for being late for two minutes… Life is the most precious thing that God gave. My heart bleeds for Loulwah’s parent and I will share her story on every social media account I have, so that people might one day learn that disobeying the law has serious consequences. God bless you Tareq and Farah and may your angels soul rest in peace.

Cannot begin to imagine the pain the mother and the family of Loulwa is going through. I want to know what happened to the speeding motorist.. has he been jailed? is there some sort of punishment dealt to him? I know that wont change anything, but I want to know that he got what he deserves. There are some dark punishments for that man that I can think of… Does anyone know what happened to him? These sorts of punishments by law should be talked about, so other speeding motorists understand that there are consequences. Saw a few cars speed past me doing at least 80 or 100 kph on the “emergency” lane yesterday, not even the area where using the lane is “allowed”, it was clearly the portion of the emergency lane that was illegal to use… the cars were a mix of locals and non locals, Kuwaitis lead by example, and expats follow

That article was one of the most difficult and heart wrenching things that I have ever read. Even the article by the father struck me like a blow to the gut.

I cannot begin to imagine the pain the family is going through. As a parent I cannot even bear the thought of something like this happening to me let alone live through it.

All I can do is pray to the Lord that he gives the entire family the strength and peace during this trying time and pull them out of this horrible anguish I am sure they are going through.

Tareq,Farah, Besma and Ahmad my deepest condolences on your loss. May the Lord bless all of you and keep you safe and may HE give you the mental strength and the inner peace to help you weather this storm .

On a separate note .. I also would like to know what was the fate of the *****R F***** who was responsible for the accident.

There was hasn’t been any information let out on the person responsible.

Please dont tell me wasta came into play and he was let off with a warning

maximum punishment should be enforced on this person… what he did was manslaughter, murder,… max speed on emergency lanes is 45km/ph….. he crashed into them killing a baby in her car seat, must have been driving waaaaaaay toooo fast….

About 8 months ago, my 2 nephews and my father inlaw were killed in an accident. All three of them fell from the Mubarak Al Kabeer bridge down on the road. My father inlaws car broke down, they were on the emergency lane of the bridge and waiting for the winch. When my brother inlaw arrived to take them home, in a matter of split seconds, a rash Kuwaiti driver came at lightning bolt speed and killed my nephews – 2.5 year old and 1 year old.

We are expatriates, Indians in particular. It has been 8 months since this accident. We have received no justice. The lawyers are going round and round and justice is yet to be served. I don’t know how long we need to fight to just get justice for the 3 people who lost their lives in my house. My home is torn apart. Half of my family went flying down the bridge and were killed.

The lady did not even show sympathy and instead went on saying “they died because they were destined to”.

I don’t know what else to say. All we are trying to do is garner courage and take one day at a time. Though we will never be able to move on and I dont even want to begin with the state of my sister inlaw who lost both her children in the horrific accident.

Prayers for you Farah. I know what you are going through. Always remember your baby Loulwah is in a better place. May Allah give you the courage to face the pain and deal with it.
