Why won’t these massive restaurants understand that this just makes for bad publicity. This whole big corporate vs. small guy situation almost never results in anything good for the restaurant in question. People inevitably dislike the establishment more and start boycotting. Of course, I can’t really judge because I haven’t read the tweet and don’t know to what extent this guy allegedly “damaged” their rep but this is still no bueno. They’re wasting their time and money.

I’m aware that freedom of speech legislation is not the same everywhere, but one would think that restaurant reviews, if factual, would be covered. Am I missing something?
well i lost my case and had to pay Benihana KD1,000 so even if we do have freedom of speech in Kuwait you still need to have a good lawyer or you’ll end up losing like me.
The Yelp Bill was recently introduced in California specifically to protect Yelpers who give bad reviews from getting sued by the restaurants

Nonsense. So if we walk into a place and pay for service, and we didn’t like the service… we’re not allowed to talk about how bad that service was? What kind of bullshit is this?
Well, Mark… if it makes you feel better… I took a stand against that restaurant for suing you. I never dined there… and I’ve already spread the word among my family and friends who are also boycotting it.
Not only do I disrespect the local companies for attacking their customers who express their disappointment and frustration… I also disrespect the mother company which is probably international and should NOT accept such action from the local branch.

I know this is pretty late in, but I’m also surprised you actually lost the case. What really surprises me is that there are food bloggers on Instragram with nearly 30k followers (Such as foodieq8 ?… It’s called something like that) whom insults several restaurants and probably has a lot of influence. Yet no law suit or anything of the sort.
Must really hard to find a good lawyer, considering how illogical it is to lose such a case or maybe the laws in Kuwait are not up to date for these kind of scenarios ?
