A 16-year-old Kuwaiti boy died after he received a fatal stab wound during a fight at 360 Mall on Thursday night. The teenager succumbed to his injuries – a stab wound in his chest and lung as soon as he arrived at the Mubarak Hospital. Another 16-year-old Kuwaiti boy was injured in the fight and has been admitted to the hospital.
He is in stable condition. Meanwhile, police reportedly identified the suspect; a Kuwaiti teenager with history of criminal activity, and a security source expects the Interior Ministry to announce his arrest ‘within hours.’ Security had been tightened at the local malls following the killing of a Kuwaiti youngster in Marina Mall in 2013, and a similar incident in which a dentist was stabbed to death during a fight in The Avenues in 2012. Originally I had read he was in his 20s so I’m surprised to find out he was actually just 16. Thats so young…

Why are people here so aggressive and wild? I don’t understand why everyone has to show how powerful they are over the others, why is it deep inside the blood of people to argue and fight?
RIP to the victim and his family.
how can someone have the heart to kill someone… IN PUBLIC think if the children. really even if the kid who stabbed the boy was under 18 i think a death sentence is in order.
As a Muslim I have been taught that to take a life is the same as killing the world. It is a tragedy that one of the reasons for leaving the USA (all the murders that happen on a daily basis) has slowly become more frequent in this adopted home of mine. That said, Alhamdulillah that we live in a country where people have not become so used to murders that no one bats an eye when one happens. Alhamdulillah, that people can still feel outrage when youths mimic what they watch in movies and commit crimes like this. Recently some kids have started spray painting actual gangs names that are found only in the USA like the Bloods and Crips. Inshallah we will still feel outrage in 5 years if murder like this happens again.
The wonderful press here always make up things to cover the shortcomings of the healthcare system.
First, The victim was already dead at 360 before the ambulance had arrived, which was about 20 minutes after he was stabbed. I believe the goal in Kuwait is to be at the scene within 8 minutes. The police also didn’t arrive until the ambulance arrived ( even though they have a security office inside the mall and are supposed to be on duty during the evenings after 8pm because thats when all the action starts.
My second point is regarding the 360 security.
At one point, the dishdasha wearing mall security at 360 were chased by the knife-wielding killer after he had stabbed the victim. What’s the point of having security if they are untrained and are not even equipped with non-lethal weapons so they can do their jobs properly ? There needs to be a shift of focus on training these groups beyond simply using their walkie talkies, and on important things like cpr, basic life support, and proper emergency medical treatment.
You have great ideas, but remember: this is Kuwait. Nothing will happen.
So you left the country and yet you still decide to spew your bitterness all over this blog? Pitiful.
What a such useless security guards. I can see many security guards around the many mall and building. However they are nothing more than door keeper. No authorization no intervention at all.
