I am in Lebanon for a few days so I managed to pass by my parents house where all the family photos are stored. They were one of the few things we managed to take with us during the 1990 Gulf War and I haven’t flipped through the pictures in ages so not really sure whats there. I am really hoping to find pictures of Salmiya from the glorious days but any other cool photos of Kuwait from the 80s would be great. Whatever I find interesting I will scan and post here.

looool…I remember those stickers!! Job Well Done, Mark 😉
Photos and certificates were the first things we packed before evacuation in 90. Hope you find some classics in your album and share it with us.
I didn’t know you went to the old BSK :p They still have the Sunshine School. They just renamed it to The Sunshine Kindergarten and its the building across the road from BSK.
Sunshine School ? sounds gay?
interesting how I keep learning names of private schools in Kuwait that existed before the invasion. Having studied in public schools all throughout my life (Graduated from HS in ’90). I for the longest time thought that the only private schools in Kuwait were the British School and American School. Even those I knew by name only!!!
I first joined the Sunshine nursery and then it became the sunshine school. Here is an old picture I had previous posted

La di da! The good ‘ol 70s and 80s in Kuwait; those were the days of our life – Wimpys, Mr.West on KTV-1, The New Supermarket downtown (next to the GPO), The New Supermarket on Salmiya high street, Shewarma by Barakat, Waleed stores, Sheryl Lynn, Al Ajami restaurant in Salhiya, The Grand Stores in Souk Al Kabeer, the Central Souk in full bloom on a Thursday evening, Vimto, Greenbelt Garden, Understanding Islam on KTV 2, Cineclub, Big League Socccer, The Paper Chase and Falcon Crest on KTV-2, Bingo contest in the Arab Times, Kids R Us in Farwaniya, Safeway Supermarket in Farwaniya, tea at Wazzan followed by scones and canapes at La Patisserie ( Salem Mubarak Street), A&W Beer, Roots furniture, Wong & Sons downtown, The Family Bookstores, Fay Trading Co., Swan Lake recordings, Iftah Ya Simsim, the parfum ad of Joy by Jean Patou, Christoffle telead, Battle Star Galactica, CHIPS, Starsky & Hutch, Dempsey & Makepeace and the Bensons on the local telly and blah blah and blah.
The best part about Kuwait in the old days was Salmiya – undisputedly the Champs Elysees of the Middle East.
