Mark, one advice to you .Please stay in bahrain as you are beginning to like the country. You have been in kuwait for quite sometime. Now is a good time to go to bahrain or go back to your own homeland.

Mark

Do you seriosly want alcohole to be legal in kuwait….i mean isn’t enough that we have BAD drivers and Teens Roaming the Malls and streets looking for someone to fight with !

Yes i drink, but NO WAY i want it to be legal here.

Laziale,

Why shouldn’t we have alcohol served here in Kuwait? If UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon all serve it – then why shouldn’t we at least have the choice?

No one’s asking for it to be placed in Sultan Center – it should be in controlled environments like Hotels etc….

We need to wake up and get with the program! We’re getting left behind.

Toxy,

2 of my friends had an Near to death accidents because of Drunking kuwaitie sh*t heads !!

the best way kuwaities like to have fun when they are drunk is to take a long Car drive “yegez” !! Don’t you read the news newspapers ?!

And there is nothing controlled in kuwait !! every one has wasta or know someone to get him the alcohol from Hotels or where ever they will be sold and served.

Laziale,

You are correct on a number of points – but did you consider these points?:

Alcohol abuse in Kuwait is prevalent because of the lack of free availability. What do I mean?

1) People tend to over drink to compensate for the fact that this may be their ‘last drink’ of the night. What if the alcohol runs out? End of party and end of buzz. It’s natural to try to over drink. The problem is that the alcohol takes a while to hit – and by that time it’s too late.

2) What about the people who would love to have a social drink – and not necessarily get drunk? There are plenty of them too. You’ve taken an extreme look no?

3) Why do you think Kuwaiti’s cannot be trusted with Alcohol – yet Emiratti’s, Bahraini’s, Omani’s etc etc etc can?

…and there are probably fewer islamofascist killjoys in bahrain…

KUWAIT CITY: The annual social gathering of the Kuwait Irish Society… has been cancelled… because of pressure from some Islamist groups.
The Kuwait Irish Society, a non-profit organization which each year organizes sports and social events to raise money for a selected charity either in Kuwait or Ireland, has been denied permission to hold the event.
Recently, a well-known Islamist politician mentioned in a statement that Islamist groups had successfully managed to get 10 of 13 social functions cancelled.

hahaha

Kuwait airways vs Gulf Air- Kuwait Airways?????

You only judged it on a half hour flight. Kuwait airways is crap- why anyone would ever travel on them I dont know. First thing I want when I leave Kuwait is a beer- and I dont mean NA.

well thank god it was only a 40 minute flight.
both gulf air planes i took were the oldest planes i think i have ever been on.

– no entertainment what-so-ever and that includes NO TVS ANYWHERE. Not even the drop down ones.
– food sucked and i like airplane food
– both planes seemed dirty and very dull
– the switch that opens the food tray was rusted, and it wasn’t just mine
– the armrest leather is like peeling off
– can’t believe how old the planes were… soo old!

Kuwait Airways is crap so imagine how crap Gulf Air must be…

moe as usual your an idiot.. why do you always want to drive people who want to change kuwait for a good thing.. I think Kuwait has been more of a home to people like Mark who want to do something good, rather then yourself who just like putting people down and doing nothing.. Silence is Golden. Learn a bit before you mouth off on people like usual..

Laziale, I totally understand your point of view, but its hard to control a substance that is illegal because people find away around the control and they use loop holes, and get out of prosecution.. we have no real punishment in Kuwait for Drunk drivers and I see it all the time..

If you legalize it then you can control the venues at least and then you can monitor these places, and enforce some realistic laws, and make it severe to drink and drive just like it is the case in the states.. the damages of Driving Drunk is extremely severe in the states be it lawyer fees, court fees, fines, community service, and license suspension.. They make your life difficult as hell after being caught in the situation.. There is no awareness about how bad drunk driving is, they only say its forbidden, if there is no awarness then there are a lot of idiots who dont care if its haram or not, and they get plastered out of their brains and drive..

I dont think alcohol should be legal here. I like the fact that kuwait, out of most the the 5aleej, doesnt hav it..

having it legal will just cause more problems. Inshalla that never changes.

Marzouq,

I am not an idiot in the first place .Just expressing my opinion and mind you i was talking to him.I don’t know how you came in the conversation. Stay out of it. I think legalize alcohol would be possibly the worse thing ever in kuwait. Then it will truly show how we are as a society and how we respect our faith by pleasing others.I know some of you the so called liberals and open minded mentality forget is you are not here on ur own terms but somebody’s elses terms.

I do man when people keep on moaning and complainig and are never happy under the conditions they are ungrateful and unthankful.

well america has its own share of problem when it comes to alcohol. Its very hard to control the problems related with alcohol. Either u have it or u don’t . Simple as that .
