My current health insurance isn’t that great. I’ve been with them for around 7 years now and a couple of years back I found out I had mild asthma and my insurance company sent me a letter saying that my doctor visits and medicine wouldn’t be covered (even though I had been with them for around 5 years and hadn’t really used them thanks to free health care. So now I’ve decided to look for a new insurance company. I checked out Bupa which is supposedly the best but the price I got quoted is a lot more than I am willing to pay.
Can anyone recommend an insurance company they’re using and are happy with?

Alico is pretty good.
I have Alico for life insurance and wanted to do health insurance with them but in Kuwait they only provide health insurance to companies and not individuals.
gulf insurance
kuwait insurance .
im sure you have it .
50 KD you pay each year , will coover almost everything , check it out .
i use TAJ
Gulf Takeful Health Program
My company uses SAICO (Saudi Arabia Insurance Company), they cover everything in our plan. Check them out..
Yes SAICO is great you should check it out
Metlife Alico – Salhiya Complex, Gate 3, First Floor
First decide which hospital you prefer, then you check their website for what insurance plans they take.
suggest you get in touch with Omar Wehbe of http://www.wisuae.com who will give you unbiased opinion and guide you in the right direction [email protected] +9714 (324) 2345
SAICO go for it. Royal treatment when you show that gold card.
Al Ahlia Insurance but I think it’s based in Bahrian, has covered every illness i’ve had so far. I’m satisfied with it
wouldn’t be really expensive when not provided by your company? especially if you want to cover ourself and the family !!
I am surprised though that your “international” JWT is not covering you with health insurance!
I am being covered, i’m looking for something better.
Warba Insuarance
warba for sure… they destroy alico’s packages
No insurance company will cover allergy even Bupa, so its waste of money. Am with Bupa and they wont cover it
Well now that I do have asthma i am not looking for an insurance company to cover it. But, from what i understood, most insurance companies would cover you if you’ve been with them say for 3 years or more and developed the problem after that period which is the case with me. But I could be wrong.
Gulf insurance is good, but Mark isn’t their any good concierge who can make a whole research about each company and give you an answer. A friend of mine once used the hotel concierge in the US to make a research about the top dentists in CA.
lol
I want to introduce you to something called Google
My company has just cancelled the contract with Bupa and moved to Expatplus.com
The website looks good, but I do not have more information than that.
Lebano Swiss
Vanbreda
everyone recommended a different company lol
Axa is good especially that you can use it Kuwait & lebanon.
Does they cover kuwait and lebanon even if you are expat (not from lebanon & kuwat)???
Try Unirisk https://www.unirisk-lb.com/. It’s one of the best brokerage firms with offices in Lebanon and Kuwait.
(Same building as Baking Tray-3rd floor)
Gulf Insurance has a company called gulf life which has amazing health insurance, they have covered my asthma and they have never disappointed me.
It has been 9 years since I left Kuwait, so forgive my question, but didnt Kuwait have free healthcare? When did it become where people had to purchase health insurance?
only for Kuwaiti citizens bro.
what do you mean only for kuwaitis? I’m not a Kuwaiti and I get free health care. Ok it’s not completely free since I need to pay KD1 but that’s nearly free.
Thats only for panadol !! If you ever want to have a CT Scan or MRI you gotta pay !
It will be free if it’s an emergency .
It still does but it doesn’t cover everything.
SAICO, they cover lot of hospitals and clinics in Kuwait.
Thanks for posting this, Mark.
I also have Asthma, and our work just switched coverage to a plan that does not provide Medical while traveling in the United States and Canada. Do any of you know if these plans you’ve listed provide coverage worldwide, or at least in the U.S. and Canada?
woah, I just saw the Bupa prices. Talk about rip-off.
Mark, you should apply for the Kuwaiti citizenship. I think you should be eligible since your family has been here for decades.
I think he should get Kuwaiti Citizenship just based on his blog’s popularity.
If you read the small print, most health insurance coverage policies are pretty similar.
Start backwards by checking with your ‘favourite’ your hospital for a suggestion. They will advise a health insurer that they are comfortable with,, and of course the hospital will give you the complete list of health risks covered.
A good starting point will be AlSalam International Hospital. Keep well..
Mark I am a medical manger for a large group of expats here in Kuwait. I deal with Bupa, Cigna, SAICO and others. SAICO is great, in order for some hospitals to accept BUPA would required pre-authorization prior to each visit. Hit me up if you would like to chat about them. Us carriers are expensive my world wide coverage runs around 55 kd monthly. Having said that most cost will vary with the type of coverage offered. Plans with vision or dental could cost more.
Does SAICO do personal insurance? like for me and my wife only?? or only corporate?
and any contact details please..
thanks..
Warba insurance started this great medical policy. The company in general is great but they have this new insurance programe that’s covering your health and life insurance and the benefits are great! Highly recommended.
I live in Australia and I’ve been with Bupa for 5 years: awesome customer service and great value for money. I think they are one of the world’s largest providers too.
I too might want to get full health insurance, actually ive been trying to get 1 for a while its just that most companies i know of dont do insurance for indiiduals and if they do they are just too expensive
or if we could get a few people together we could get a good deal
if someone could post prices for per year it would be great
i.e gang bang insurance?
Mark,
Bupa should be really good, read their insurance policy they cover for cancer treatments anywhere in the world “B3eed elshar”.
I recommend he following:
For Internaltional cover InterGlobalpmi.com, call Mr. Ashok Anand 99705934
or
for Semi Internaltional I recommend Lebano Swiss
Call Mr. Fadi Sabagh 97639292
I personally Have Bupa with My company (self funded).
In general local schemes won’t cover much maybe KD10k along with all the exclusions.
Regional cover (Alico, Lebano Swiss)will have higher covers but yet the same exclusions.
international coverages cover $1M and your exclusions are logical.
for personal plans you wil have a pre-underwriten plans which could be better than group companies plans that are customized (reduced benenfits).
Good luck
Bupa used to be excellent but they are a disaster now and cover nothing – we keep paying and get nothing back!
try AETNA – I use Gulf Insurance (via work) which has been great but I don’t know if they do individual
Bupa & Cigma are the best. I have both and use them world wide anywhere. They cover everything and anything from physical therapies to cosmetics.
SAICO is currently our company medical insurance for self and family, the insurance coverage however provided to us here in Kuwait is totally useless, it only listed three clinics and have to pay cash every visit and apply for reimbursement later. Worst, it would take 4 months to get ta refund which is only 60% of the total amount paid without explanation. As per our contract it is 100% free coverage.
