I needed some small speakers for my desktop computer which I use every now and then when I want to copy mp3s to my iPod. The computer has a tiny built in speaker but its too weak and you can barely hear anything so I wanted some affordable external speakers I could connect to it so I could hear some of the songs before I move them to my iPod. I looked at some bookshelf stereo speakers but after some research I ended up getting the Logitech X-230.
The X-230 is made up of two small speakers and a sub that fits under the desk. I read a lot of positive feedback on them online and a friend of mine who has the smaller X-210 told me his speakers sounded really good so I imagined the the larger X-230 sounded even better. They did.
I am currently sitting on my desktop computer typing this post while I am listening to some music coming out of the speakers. Its really hard to believe these speakers cost me only KD15. The sound is pretty balanced and there is some proper bass being pumped out by the sub although it gets a bit boomy every now and then but hey, they are KD15 speakers. Everything is sounding pretty good coming out of these speakers and for the price I paid I think they are a steal.
So if you’re looking for speakers I would highly recommend the Logitech X-230. You can get them from the local Logitech website for KD14 with delivery but I ended up getting them from Hawalli for KD15.

mark, i saw these speakers in geant hypermaket at 360 for about 3kd..i figured i would try them out and they were pretty good…considering it was only 2.900kd~..do you have ipod speakers ? cause if you dont you can just hook your ipod to your logitech speakers and use it ….works perfectly with mine( even though i already have ipod docking station).
You found the X-230 for KD3 at Geant?
i was also surprised by the price of the electronics in geant ..very very cheap..like for example the 5800 xpress music is usually around 90kd but it was only 69 in geant…
Well I highly doubt the X-230 is selling for KD2.900. Must have been other speakers. The X-210 sell for KD10.250 for example.
no i found some other ones…..not x230
I bought a refurbished one 4 years ago from a company called justdeals.com for just $29 . It was pretty good for it’s size and the space that I had at that time. Good Choice
Mark: where in Hawalli did you get them?
A small shop in front of Soft Island
I have the X-210 and yes it’s sounds pretty good, but now I’m also thinking of getting the X-230 considering the price… π
are advised to use it for laptop?
what about power / thanks
Does this have a lot of wires? Will the wires be showing?
Can we get pictures of how you connected it, please.
You should have bought the Altec FX 6021, they are more powerful, reasonably priced and go really well along side Macs.

Ok just to answer some questions
– Yes it would work with a laptop but the speakers aren’t very portable
– They are powered meaning you have to plug them into electricity
– The sub is pretty heavy which makes the whole thing not very portable
– Wiring: There is a wire from one speaker to the other. Then the second speaker has a wire down to the sub. Then the sub has a wire to the power.
i had the same set of speakers (X-230s) which my small nephew poured water on π
They were awesome for the price that i bought them for π
GET IT GET IT GET IT…
yousuf:
“were awesome” i guess they stopped working after ur nephew’s little accident (or not) lol
does it have a head phone input ?
It’s a great product, I’m listening to music with it now as I’m typing this comment π
However, it’s kinda old and it may be hard to look for these great set of speakers in the market.. Anyway, if you do spot them.. Please.. make sure you get them..
This is the best advice you would have chosen to trust since you swapped Creative Nomad with Apple iPod!
haha.. you may ignore the metaphor but yeah, it’s a great buy and a decent set of speakers for mobility(which is suitable for laptops/netbooks/notebooks/mp3 player/etc) and it also has a conveniently placed headphone input port right next to the volume control.
