For people who don’t own the new iPods yet continue to say that the new iPods don’t scratch easily thats total bullshit. I have had my iPod video for a week now and it spends majority of its time in its foof pod. Yet holding up my iPod now and looking at it from an angle I can easily see around 30 to 40 minor scratches. This is unfucking acceptable. My Sony Ericsson phone which I have owned now for a few months and which I throw into my pocket with my keys on a daily basis has only 1 scratch on the screen. How the hell does my ipod have 40 scratches in 1 week while it remains tucked away in its nice protective case?
TivoGuy got 2 deep scratches on his iPod because he had it in his pocket when he accidently put a paper parking ticket in the same pocket. A paper parking ticket scratched his ipod!
Apple really fucked up this time around. It seems they have been really cutting back on costs, no power adapter, crappy packaging, easily scratching surface and best of all, if you have your phone next to your ipod and it rings you can kiss your ears goodbye.

Man I was really planning to get iPod Nano for my bro. and iPod video for myself. But after those reviews I am having second thought. I guess I will wait for a while to see what apple will say about it.
yep I faced the same scratching problem with my Nano so I am really taking care of my Video iPod … they really screwed up on this one… I think they tried to catch the holiday season and that was teh price

Mark, too late for me as well, I should have gotten a case on the first day, because believe it or not, I have major scratches on my NANO (click me)less than 24 hours from opening the box..

if i wanted to wrap my ipod with a thick layer of rubber i might as well use the ipod from within its original box.
i told rami i feel the iskin is like leaving the plastic bag around your remote. Or another example is keeping the nylon bag around the seats of your new car.. permanently.
the ipod is beautiful it would be a shame to hide it behind the iskin. you need to be able to feel it, skin on plastic with nothing in between 🙂

I just got an iPod video for christmas and tonight I took it out of the package and was going to put it inside a rubbery case for it.
Well, this case is pretty good, it comes with a plastic screen protector that fits over it when its inside the case. I was going to place the screen protector on and I noticed some dust on the actual iPod’s screen so I took a shirt that is 100% cotton (I made sure) and tried to brush off the dust gently.

Ive got multiple little scratches all over my iPod now. I barely touched the damn thing and its..AGHH frustrating! I cant believe it! I was so very careful, honestly!! How could it get scratched!? Im pretty sure they are scratches too because I tried again with a different 100% cotton shirt and weeeeee tiny tiny bit of water to get it off and still, it was there, so it must be a scratch.
I am really disappointed, I know the iPod will work just fine, itself, but Im upset that I couldnt even keep it scratch free for 10 minutes 🙁
oh, i just read on some other forums that all the new iPods (including video and nano) scratch easily… i did not know this

solution: use a couple of bits of stickytape to cover the screen. With a bit of care will be seamless.
Bought the Ipod Video opened the box got some fingerprints on it so I whiped it with a “JEWELERY CLOTH” SCRATCCHHHHH that’s all I gotta say. Terrible Terrible. How can anything scratch so easily it’s completely ridiculous.
what color is your ipod black? you cant see as many scatches on a white ipod nano.
There is no cleaner out there that will take the scratches off your ipod. You cannot get a screen replacement either. If your ipod gets scratched, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Even the tiniest scratch will remain on your ipod 6,000 years later. They will never go away. Even your fingers scratch the ipod. Even air scratches the ipod. Even running water on the screen scratches the ipod. Even nothing scratches the ipod. Even when the case is on with the screen protector, the rubbing of the case onto the ipod will scratch it. The best thing to do is just sell your scratched up ipod, buy a new one, leave the plastic on it, and put it in a case with the screen protector. It will still get scratches, but not as many.
well ffs i wanted to get my daughter one for her birthday i was only going to buy the ipod shuffle which costs around $100 but if the stupid thing scratches that easily i dont know if i will i noticed that the stupid cases cost half as much as the shuffle itself ….how fucked up is that?
lol. When i got my ipod. Theverry fist day. I took it out of the bok and i dropd it. Then my brother acsidentaly stepd on it. Then i pik it up and wipe the fut print. It had scraches all over it. But i was still happy. I when to my room and ut it on the dock to up load the songs. My briliant of a bro, Again , disided to move some stuf. He hits the Desk and out the second storry windo when the new ipod ( preveusly dropd and stepd on ) out the window. I wach it fall in slow motion, to the gravel drive way. I ran to go for it just to see my dad drive in… It hur realy bad, I saw him ran over the dam iPod on the gravel drinve way… GRAVEL!!!!!! I pick it up and started to laf.It wasall broken. The white and Metalick parts were bent and broken. The screen was ok (i culdent belive)so i got what was left of it (batery, screen, hard drive) and started to buld an ipod of my own… Mand what a day for a new iPod Photo. I remember now and i lafe my ass off. So right know im working on puting what was left of the iPod (with i puloded the songs… I culdent belive it) and put it in a digital camera.
It tuck me 1 year and sacrifisd my music instruments for it. I sold everythig Exept my Guitar and Bass. Well lets see how it gos.
You can take the scaches of the iPod with Brasso My friend did it and it looks beter. He yousd a coto ball and Brasso. Well The ipod is till cool but it deeds to survive what hapend to mine in order for it to be beter.

You can get the Ice Creme scratch remover to get most of those scratches off and then get yourself a invisibleSHIELD. :]

I noticed that mu ipod video was getting scratched despite the fact that I use the little slip case that came with it. So I bought a “crystal clear case” from a company called Summit Image. Guess what? The act of sliding the ipod into the hard plastic case caused multiple, deep scratches. I took it out and put it back in maybe three times before I realized that I wasn’t imaging it – the fucking case designed to “protect” my ipod was scratching the shit out of it. Fuck.
