Recommend a Chinese Restaurant

My favorite Chinese restaurant used to be Peacock but since it closed down I really haven’t found a good alternative. I still go to Caesars every now and then but that isn’t really authentic Chinese food.

I’m looking for a new place and figured I’d ask, what’s your favorite Chinese restaurant (preferably a hole in the wall and a dine in) and how can I find it? Let me know.

Well,

Real Chinese doesn’t exist anymore, it died with Peacock, mostly you find the crappy version of Chinese with some of the little delivery stores in Jabriya/Salmiya or the California/Chinese (Californese) like P.F. Chang’s & Pei Wei … So i guess Peacock opens your, for a lack of a better word, shit outta luck.

yeah a lot of good places are take away like Wok Master which is why I mentioned I wanted a dine in. With all these burger places opening I’m surprised no one thought about opening a good chinese place.

china kitchen salmiya,is the best, ive been ordering there for more than 10 years,so far its the best chinese food ive had in kuwait!

Prolly a long shot, But i think you should give China House a shot, its in salmiya located somewhere behind Fanar, Its a small but not tiny place with a really good reputation, usually full of people, got a slight cult following.
gluck mate.
Boom

Jade Garden and try Chung Lung in UTC in Kuwait City. They have Chinese cooks, atmosphere may not be as great. Both places owned by same company.

Golden Chopsticks is in Shaab Al Bahry. Take the exit off Fahaheel in front of the Starbucks, turn an immediate left when facing SBux then follow the road around it’ll be on your left. I think they close on Mondays.

it is essential you try the crispy beef with sweet and sour sauce (@golden chopsticks). its a bit strong but its the only place that make the dish in kuwait and its reallly good.

+1 for Golden chopstix..

directions for dummies..

take the fahaheel exp way (Road 30) towards city.. when you pass flex in shaab… take right from under the bridge to go towards gulf street..

when you are approching gulf street… take the free right from the signal..

then immedietly take the first right in to shaab…

and again take the first right… go a little further around 30-40 meters.. the rest is on your right 🙂 enjoy.

Jade Garden all the way. Baghdad Street, Salmiya (top of Gulf Hotel). There is a reason is the favourite Chinese restaurant in Kuwait of companies such as Huawei.

Don’t know about dine ins but for take away:

Chinese food changes for every restaurant from time to time and at varying rates…

One time its ok the next 4 times its terrible… Who the hell makes kendo chicken with ketchup ?

Another restaurant made the kendi chicken into biscuit chicken…

Wtf ? can anyone recommend a good chinese delivery that has consistent good food ?

And also another thing they are getting damn bloody expensive and crappy quality.

Tang Chao in Holiday Inn Salmiya. I’m an Asian and I thik they are the ‘authentic’ Chinese after Peacock (Not Americanized). Try their ‘Maa-p(b)ou Tofu (bean curd with sauce)’! It’s supposed to be one of the popular dishes but not many Chinese restaurants in Kuwait have it. Once I discussed with a Chinese lady and she even also agreed their food is more authentic than others.
Also… I didn’t try by myself but a friend of mine used to study in Shanghai told me Mughal Mahal @Farwaniya branch has the best fried noodles in Kuwait (she said one of the best she has ever had)

There’s Noodles(which has the best sweet-&-sour chicken),Wok N Roll at The Avenues near IKEA and you have Pei Wei, P.F. Chang’s.

China Kitchen
Cute place to eat in too, also they have a nice outdoor area with a few tables , perfect time to eat hot chinese food outdoors

There is a very good Asian restaurant called Ginger in muthana.
What sets it apart from other restaurants is that it is vegetarian.

i heard china kitchen is very good, it actually belongs to a friend and i’ve been planning to write a review for weeks… will do hopefully this week – the reason why it is so good is the chef, he used to be peacock’s chef!

I always went with Gulf Royal Chinese. It’s more of an ‘Order in, watch a movie’ kind of place. My family and my friends love it, try it!

China Lake… it’s a small restaurant in Salmiya, off the 30, opp. Hadi Clinic. The food is great and the portions are generous, good packaging as well. They have four tables, but are very quick at deliveries. Try them out Tel. 25638544, Enjoy!

I have tried numerous Chinese restaurants and tried
many dishes, the only one which I LOVE is China Town. The restaurant has only two branches, one in Salmiya and the other in Mahboula. If you would like to try, you should try the Chicken Noodles.
I believe they serve the tastiest Noodles among all chinese restaurants in Kuwait.

China gate in Salmiya is our all time favorite. Its like a hole in the wall but food specially the dry beef chilli is too good. You have to give it a try.

Definitely ‘Chopsticks’ in the heart of Indian Salmiya so to speak. I remember me and my high school mates ordering every weekend during lan parties. The food is affordable and realllllly filling. They are mainly a cook and deliver service as the restaurant place itself is pretty small.

The shop is opposite a shop called ‘White Rose Takeaways’.

It is somewhere near the famous EEDEE stores in Salmiya.

Chopsticks (Salmiya) – Phone: 965 5617243

I think all the dishes are below 4 – 5 KD @_@.
Ah those awesome sleepover / LAN parties !

to me,, they all taste the same!!!

i have my Chinese food fix from “China Lake”

at the entrance of salmeya on fahaheel after 5th ring road,, before 4th ring road bridge,, the 1st entrance

China Kitchen is as good as it gets for me. I’m a BIG Peacock fan and when I tried Wok Master it was just too damn salty for my tastes. China Kitchen’s black pepper beef is identical to Peacocks, and so is everything else I’ve had there. I’d recommend the chicken with dry red chili, sweet and sour shrimp, black pepper beef, shrimp on toast, and their singaporean noodles. Seriously, Mark. Do yourself a favor and try it.

The Red Dragon in Jabriya has pretty good. They got real Chinese food like “Moo Shoo Chicken” and “Kung Pao Chicken” which are pretty delicious! You have to try their “Sweet n’ Sour” if you ever plan to pass by!

That was the idea. Time to visit them one by one. Went to Golden Chopsticks last night, will post about it in a bit. I think you guys here over hyped it for me.

I really hope you did not get a stomach ache, or food poisoning of some sort..
During the days when Golden Chopsticks was in Salmiya, our whole family used to go there E.V.E.R.Y single week and we loved it! But as soon as they moved to Shaab, things did not go as well, until they got so bad, I got food poisoning twice. I always try giving it another shot hoping that it changes, but never works out..

Golden chopsticks is the best chinese restaurant for SPECIFIC menu items…order what i tell you and NOTHING else…
1. Chicken/vegetable spring rolls….its the only restaurant that makes them without getting them soggy
2.shrimp on toast
3. chefs salad-if you like tangy chicken and cashews.
4. DUCK-this is the reason i go to this place…for the duck
5.Crispy chicken…NOT SWEET AN SOUR…CRISPY CHICKEN…NOT BEEF…CHICKEN
Stick to these rules and dont order anything else…this place is awesome buts its weird cuz it has some really good stuff that make you think your eating at a gourmet place…and some other stuff that taste like there made out of a Chinese cart on the street….

ORDER PLENTY OF DUCK SAUCE and dip everything in it.

If you want Chow Mein, you can get that at Maghal Mahal, I recommend their Chow Mein chicken, they do have Viggie Chow Mein, it is an indian/chinese restaurant.

I do not know the name, but there is a quaint little chinese restaurant just off 4th ring and the 30 with a large lobster outside the door, that has quite good food and quite reasonable prices. Entire family gives it raves.

Interesting thread….I miss Chinese food from Chinatown in NYC…it simply does not get any better than that…I would kill for an amazing chinese place in Kuwait.

When PF Chang’s first opened on Gulf Road…I LOVED it…but I now despise it.

We went there for Eid and got the chicken pan fried dumplings which were pink inside…ugh. And the chicken chow mein was overcooked and sticky.

And then my husband talked me into trying it one more time this past Friday.

I ordered the Moo Shu Chicken…and all I can say is GROSS…..it had a chemical smell to it…I think it must have been the bamboo shoots..and I was really liking the fried eggs inside until I spotted two eggs with BLUE spots on them. Ugh…I can only assume it was Windex??

I will NEVER eat at PF Chang’s again!

Good luck with your culinary adventure Mark…personally I think you have a stomach made of steel!!

Forgot the name of the restaurant, but there’s a great little chinese restaurant in Farwaniya behind Crown Plaza. It’s very small can sit a max of 4 tables, they have a Chinese chef, a waiter and one driver. But the food is finger licking good, and pretty cheap compared to other chinese places I’ve tried.

Also recommended is their dumplings and their sizzling chicken.

Dunno if this is a late post, nevertheless it will be a good info for genuine Chinese food lovers.. Kuwait Chinese Market & Restaurant serves authentic Chinese food in Kuwait and Mrs. Ding is the mama san of this place.. Apparently her sister started and owns Golden Chopsticks.. (Tel: 24928357) located behind the London supermarket in Shuwaikh..

Mark, I would recommend a HOT POT if you ever try this place (Kuwait Chinese Market & Restaurant).. The meal will turn out to be a ceremony with this one dish…

Being of Chinese blood, I would recommend you “Jia”, yes, nothing like “Chinese xxx” “China xxx” but they are serving Chinese food to Chinese people, you will find either Chinese or Chinese bringing their friends, not a single table with foreigners only.

Location is near London Center in Shuwaikh Industrial Area, Canada Dry street, it’s kind of hideous, but you look around and find big lanterns

BTW, don’t venture the China Queen near Gulf Mart in Salmiya, they are killing people, recommend you special dishes not in the menu and then charge you like hell.

Tang Chao the Chinese restaurant at the Holiday Inn Hotel salmiya on the gulf road front of the scientific center its reallllllllllllllllllllly good .. you should all try it

Mark, your posts have always been a great help to me and need you to guide me if there is a place which serves Peking Duck and actually do the carving at your table (the real chinese way). Grateful for your help in this matter!
