Sony Ericsson K800i

K800i

I can’t wait for the K800i to get released, it has 3G, a 3.2MP camera and a web browser for viewing regular HTML websites. Its also has a second camera for video calls although I doubt I would ever use that. I am currently using the K700i which is really sluggish and buggy but when I got it, it was half the price of the K750i which I figured was a good deal. But ever since I bought the phone I have been regretting it. At least now I learned not to go stingy when it comes to buying a phone. [Link]

mark, im looking to get a new phone asap. Not sure exactly what though. Nokia, Sony Ericsson are my two choice brands. However I want something that has PDA like features in it…

I have heard mixed review about imates…

The Nokia communicators are too ugly and big

and the New P990 from Sony Eric isnt going to be out for a while and will be around 300KD when it does…

thoughts?

Well when it comes to PDA’s my OS of choice would be Palm. I don’t like Symbian which is what Nokias and Sony Ericsson use and I really don’t like Pocket Pcs. If you are looking for a phone that has PDA capabilities I would go for the Treo 650 or the 700p which is rumored to debut next month. The 700w is already out but its based on PocketPC, the p version will be based on palm.

The reason I would go with Palm over Symbian and PocketPC is because of this palmgear.com

you have over a hundred thousand softwares designed for the palm OS and a lot of them are freeware. The ones that are shareware also usuually dont cost more then 9$. You have software for anything and everything, its really a fun OS to have.

If you want to check out the 700w click on the link
https://www.palm.com/us/products/smartphones/treo700w/
but the 700p will have better features like the screen resolution of the 700p will be atleast 320×320.

Ummm, April 19th apparently is the Phone Exhibition in Mishref Exhibition Grounds.

I have heard that the N80 will be released then and I am anxiously awaiting for it! So look into it

I think Nokia needs to learn that people want to see something new and inventive instead of releasing model after model without any major change besides the way it looks.

Sony Ericsson newer models are just a refreshing change from Nokia (here is your N90 but hey look N95 is hotter but it will be out 6 months laters…I hate NOKIA).

I’m looking forward to K800 and W950 (6GB walkman phone minus no Camera/memcard slot).

Btw in Japan they’ve got 6MP mobile phones :O, but they are JAPAN ONLY !_!.

mark, maybe the k700i’s buggy cos it needs a firmware update? i’ve had a k700i, a couple of firmware updates later, it was rocksolid. bought a k750i recently, the bluetooth’s a bit dodgy, gonna take it to the service centre for a firmware flash, but the digicam’s just awesome. imagine the k700i’s picture quality on fine and resolution on max, at 2-3x the clarity. oh yeah, the w950i’s gonna rock my boat!

yeah i am lagging behind by 1 firmware update but just been too lazy to go and give htem my phone and then spend a day without it till they flash it..

i like the k750, nataly has it and yeah the camera is really good and quick. i should have gotten the k750 when she did but i cheapened out and got the k700 instead..

I suggest you hold out. (as is the case with all damn mobile phones). Im not a fan of nokia but their software has never been as crappy as SE’s. No matter how many upgrades they make, SE software is always buggy, slow and retarded. Its a shame but its true and theres no 3rd party software available.

Zaina,

You can find their phone numbers there, as well as the available and coming soon mobiles(no dates though).

Phone models like the P900(K750, W series, etc as well) and later are all upgradable at home using the SE support site.

If it was possible I would wait for the new models, K800(possibly June) in particular, or W950(around the end of summer) for a smartphone(no camera). But if you can’t wait, I’d say go for the W810.

Hi I came across your website and i was wondering if you know if there is a possible message storer or message saver application for K800i because i want to bluetooth my sms messeges to my laptop. I use to do that with my Nokia that is compatible with a symbian software that messege storer and message saver can work with. I understand the K800i works with Java but i cant seem to find a java application for K800i that can send your sms messege thru blutooth. anyway i reall hope you could help me. Thank you.
