Flowers

I took these today with my Nikon D90 and 50mm 1.8/f lens. I was freelensing with the lens held the wrong way round to get the macro ability. No retouching, just some minor color color grading. The yellow flowers were growing from a white plant which I hadn’t seen before.

Update: Added some more. Also I’ve placed some typography (NIN lyrics) on some of the shots to help bring out the picture.

oh man !!!….you should try micro function on my olympus Stylus 770 SW….your photos blured & not clear at all!…….I took some photos for flowers if u like i can send you some

If you think Helvetica is a bad choice because its a “default” font, Frutiger is as bad. Helvetica is used on road signs, so is Frutiger, and if you know Helvetica you know Frutiger, so you keep thinking you’re using a better font 😛

im sorrry to say this but SHIT U R DAMN GOOD mark, i mean maybe i have an untrained eye in photography. But they are really beautiful.
Now i have 2 favours to ask u, first of all is to please post these pictures at higher resolution and secondly as how u took them and any special equipment u used, sort of like an idiots guide to photography?

thanx man

Thanks Raven. Do you have a DSLR? If you do then you should be able to get similar macro shots with shallow depth of field.

I used two different techniques:
Freelensing which you can read about here

and using the lens backwards which you can read bout here

I heard today that they freelensed in this Louis Vuitton ad

cool… i love them

just going off topic, has anyone been to the supposedly crazy prices by xcite from 12am till 2am thursday (or technically friday)?

The last shot looks like a 3D rendering, Awesome shots Marky Mark.

@pinkdress
I’ve been there and it was the biggest waste of my time. There was herds of people waiting to enter and finally after an hour of waiting, I finally managed to get in the shop at around 1.20. Mind you, I was there at 12:13. Did not see anything “Crazy” in terms of prices. The only thing that really interested me was an 18″ Alpine sub that was discounted from 90+ kd to 68kd.. The next day I went to the avenues to find the exact same sub with the same exact discount. That was a big a slab in the face. In conclusion, it was a waste of time and I promised my self never to trust Al-ghanim when it comes to sales. They did however had the new dell Mini for 105kd. Too bad it was sold out.

A.Albaz… I know! I felt the whole thing was a gimmick! Just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way… There were tons of people and cars were actually parked on the fourth ring road!!! By the time I left (after a huge disappointment and of course a waste of my time) police have already arrived and giving out fines. The whole thing was simply a mockery. Never will I ever trust Alghanim again, as u said. I despise when they take customers for fools grrr

Now that I shared THAT I feel much better 🙂

Oh and I wanted to take pix of the crowd and vehicles but unfortunately my cybershot wasn’t with me :S

Did anyone take any shots? Mark maybe?

Mark is it risky to buy a Canon Camera via Amazon? I am willing to get the 450 D Canon in silver color, and both Eureka and Alghanim electronic they have only in black! plus it is much cheaper through Amazon! it costs only 185 KD plus the shipment 10KD for 4 LB which is a total of 195 KD, while in Alghanim they sell it for 270 KD, and 239 KD in Eureka!
So what do you think? i need your advice 🙂
