Avenues now have signs up banning hoverboards in the mall. I haven’t found them to be a nuisance yet but they must be causing issues for them to want to ban them. In traditional Avenues fashion, I don’t think the rule is being strictly enforced since I did see a kid on a hoverboard while I was shopping there.
But if anything, Sultan Center should be the one to ban hoverboards just because of how lame it makes people look pushing carts while on them.

I’m glad they are banned. Just the other day I witnessed one of those run over a man’s foot in Marina Crescent! He was too nice not to say anything but looking at his face, he was surely in pain.

Why not having a special lane in the malls for people on hover boards ? lol… I actually prefer they make lanes for people who use their mobile phones while walking…

Playing around with this at home or with friends is fine. But taking them to a mall (or to push a cart) – that’s just plain ridiculous and lazy.

They’re technically called “Self Balancing Scooters”, maybe that’s why.
I hope it gets enforced.

Fat people used to have a fighting chance to gt some exercise when they had to walk down some supermarket aisles to get their regular doses of Twinkies and a gallon of chocolate milk. Now with theses hover boards that’s out of the window
It’s the indoor aspect of using such scooters that i don’t get. Lets imagine this: Using them around an area where people usually carry bags, phones, etc as well as shops that sell delicate stuff. A kid suddenly loses his balance (though i admit, they’re very talented in riding them). First, the kid is actually hurt, not wearing any gear or protection. Moreover, i’m hurt, usually knocking something out of my hand or hitting something that falls and breaks. I don’t mind kids having fun, but has anyone in the avenues considered using that area outside (near the water way) that’s usually abandoned and turning it into some sort of a scooter paradise or something? Cover it with some shades, have it supervised and have the kids play there while their parents shop peacefully inside.
PS: Regarding law enforcement in the avenues, i keep laughing at the security post near the X-cite gate and how you can avoid it by walking into Ikea or x-cite and entering the mall from there. Not very effective if you ask me.
